• This is a painting that Motley made during the Harlem Renaissance. It means that whites and blacks didn’t matter when there in a jazz club having fun. They just wanted to have fun. there was no such thing as Jim Crow when you was in a jazz club.

died April 6, 1971• He was the first jazz Soloist• He was the best trumpet player of

his time and was known nation wide• His trumpet solos and vocals were

greatest of his time and was found in most jazz

• We think Louis was important because he was the first black/African American that did only jazz solos

• Aaron Douglas is important because he helped pave the way for new African American artists at the time.

This picture is significant to the Harlem renaissance because it shows the struggle blacks went threw and how they had overcome their past of abuse to because a recognized foundation.
