2.3 ETHERNET MAC ADDRESS PROGRAMMING 2.3.1 BCM4401 Ethernet: Program the eeprom in engineering mode (1) Boot from DOS (Win 98 preferred) and type b44diag –b44eng (2) 0:>sromutil –m 001018000001 14e4 8401. MAC address 001018000001, SVID:14e4 and SID:8401 will be programmed into eeprom. You can change to other values if nevessary. (3) 0:>sromutil –b 0. Disable PXE function on NIC if PXE binary image is being integrated into BIOS. (4) 0:>sromutil –d –feeprom.bin, you will get your golden eeprom.bin file (5) Exit to DOS (6) Re-boot the system (7) Under engineering mode, customers can see a list of all commands by typing “help” after 0:>. In addition, for all parameters, please type 0:>command ? (for example 0:>secfg ?, and you should get a list of all parameters associated with that specific command),

2.3.2 BCM5788 Ethernet: Program the eeprom in engineering mode (1) Boot from DOS (Win 98 preferred) and type b57diag -b57eng (2) Please make sure HIMEN.SYS and COMMAND.COM are also included on the floppy.

(3) 0:>seprg –fee5788c3.26 (4) 0:>secfg and change the settings (for example 1=00:10:18:12:34:56 to change MAC address. 24=1 to enable ASF). Remember to save the settings and write back to EEPROM. Please see page 4 for the complete list of EEPROM setting. (5) For LOM applications, please modify item 30 under settings to 1 (from NIC to LOM) (6) 0:>sedump -f=eeprom.bin -l=xxxx (file size of eeprom.bin), you will get the golden eeprom.bin file (7) Exit to DOS (8) Under engineering mode, customers can see a list of all commands by typing “help” after 0:>. In addition, for all parameters, please type 0:>command ? (for example 0:>secfg ?, and you should get a list of all parameters associated with that specific command).
