18 NewHomes CUSTOM BUILT February 2-3, 2013 D omenic and Josie Nardelli, directors of Aquila Homes, are breaking new ground in this new Dianella property. Firstly, as boutique builders they usually create homes bigger than this three-bedroom single-storey model. So though it is smaller than most of their builds, they emphasise that the high-quality finishes seen in their homes have been incorporated here. Also, until now the company always has come to an arrangement with buyers to allow people to view the completed home. This time, they have decided to open the house to the public before it is sold. “We feel the design will be great for downsizers or young professional couples who also want a great finish,” Mrs Nardelli said. Porcelain tiles and splashback, Smeg European appliances, quartz top to bathroom surfaces and European handles all show that quality. So do the soft-close doors on all kitchen drawers and cabinets and the appliance cupboard. The home has a double wood-and-glass entry door and the long hallway leads first to the home theatre which, like the rest of the home has a height of 31 courses. Most of the ceilings have jazz stepped cornices but in the main living areas, shadowline cornices give an appealing contrast. The couple started in the building trade as draftspeople but now he has moved into construction and she concentrates more on interior design. “It has been a great journey,” Mrs Nardelli said. The man now charged with designing most of Aquila’s homes is Chris McMahon, described as being “young and in tune” by the Nardelli’s. The main suite is at the front of the home and has a feature ceiling, walk-in robes, twin vanities in the ensuite and a big shower. The long passageway to the rear of the property leads to two more good-sized bedrooms, a bathroom with a big bath and finished in quality white tiles, a toilet and the laundry. A courtyard opens from the living areas and the home has been finished in light, welcoming shades. It can be viewed on Sundays from 11am to 1.30pm or midweek by arrangement. ............................................................................ CONTACT Aquila Homes, 9349 9990.
