REMOVE COMPONENTS AND PARTS FROM SHIPPING CRATE

CAREFULLY UNPACK THE AQUATIC INTELLIGENCE FILTER CONTROLLER (AIF) TOPREVENT FROM DAMAGING OR BREAKING THE GLASS IN THE GAUGE PANEL. USETHE CRATE AS A WORK BENCH, COVERING THE SURFACE WITH PAPER OR CLOTHTO PREVENT SCRATCHING OF THE CONTROLLER SURFACE.

ORGANIZE THE LOOSE PARTS AND COMPONENTS, I.E. FITTINGS, SOLENOIDS, ETC.,TO GUARD AGAINST MISPLACING THESE ITEMS.

1. INSTALL AIF CONTROLLER

SINGLE TANK

INSTALL THE AIF FILTER CONTROL ONTO THECONTROLLER MOUNTING BRACKET USING THEHARDWARE PROVIDED. (REFER TO PARTS LIST)

MULTIPLE TANK SYSTEMS

INSTALL THE AIF FILTER CONTROL ONTO THECONTROLLER MOUNTING BRACKET FOR 2THROUGH 16 TANK SYSTEMS USING THEHARDWARE PROVIDED. (REFER TO PARTS LIST)

2. INSTALL SOLENOIDS

SINGLE TANK SYSTEMS

POSITION SOLENOID ON THE CONTROLLERMOUNTING BRACKET AS SHOWN AND SECUREWITH HARDWARE PROVIDED.(REFER TO PARTS LIST)

INSTALL SOLENOID/PLATE ASSEMBLY TO9 THROUGH 16 TANK SYSTEM

FOR 9 THROUGH 16 TANK SYSTEMS, INSTALL A SOLENOID/PLATE ASSEMBLY, ONEON THE FIRST 8 TANK SYSTEM CONTROLLER MOUNTING BRACKET AND THE OTHERSOLENOID/PLATE ASSEMBLY ON THE CONTROLLER MOUNTING BRACKET FOR THEREMAINING TANKS IN THE SYSTEM.

3. INSTALL GAUGE PANEL

ATTACH THE 3/8” X 1/4” NPT ELBOWS TO THEGAUGES, TURNING TOWARDS EACH OTHER ASSHOWN. USE OPEN END WRENCH TO HOLDGAUGES TO PREVENT BREAKAGE OF THE GLASSLENS. POSITION THE GAUGE PANEL ASSEMBLY TOTHE TWO STUDS ON THE BACK (TOP CENTER) OFTHE AIF CONTROLLER AND SECURE WITH 1/4” – 20ELASTIC LOCKNUTS. (REFER TO PARTS LIST)

WHEN POWER IS APPLIED TO THE CONTROLLER AND THE POWER SUPPLY SWITCHINSIDE THE CONTROLLER IS SWITCHED ON, THE EPD AQUATIC INTELLIGENCESYSTEM SCREEN APPEARS. AFTER A 5 SECOND DELAY, THE MAIN MENU APPEARS.FROM THE MAIN MENU YOU CAN ACCESS ALL OF THE CONTROLLERS FUNCTIONS.

EMERGENCY STOP BUTTON

IF THE EMERGENCY STOP BUTTON ISPUSHED IN, ALL CONTROLLER FUNCTIONSSTOP AND DEFAULT TO OFF. ROTATE THEEMERGENCY STOP BUTTON CLOCKWISETO RESET.

POWER UP

SWITCH ON THE MAIN POWER BREAKERSWITCH TO THE AIF CONTROLLER.UNLATCH THE AIF CONTROLLER DOORAND SWITCH ON THE POWER SUPPLYLOCATED INSIDE THE UPPER RIGHTCORNER.

AFTER A 5 SECOND DELAY WHEN POWER ISAPPLIED TO THE CONTROLLER, THEMAIN MENU SCREEN IS DISPLAYED.

CONFIGURE SYSTEM

TOUCH SYSTEM SET-UP TO ACCESSENTER PASSWORD TO ACCESSSET-UP SCREENS. THE FACTORYPROGRAMMED PASSWORD IS (1111).YOU CAN CHANGE THIS PASSWORDAS SHOWN ON PAGE 34.

ENTER THE PASSWORD (1111) AND THENTOUCH ENT. THE SYSTEM SET-UP MENUSCREEN WILL BE DISPLAYED.

THE FOLLOWING PARAMETERS ARE DISPLAYD. EACH IS HIGHLIGHTED WHENTOUCHED. ENTER THE VALUES ON THE KEYBOARD. TOUCH “ENT” OR TOUCH“CLR” TO CLEAR VALUE. TOUCH “ACCEPT” WHEN VALUE IS ENTERED. THE VALUEIS DISPLAYED NEXT TO THE PARAMETER AND IS THE CURRENT SET POINT VALUE.

SYSTEM SETTING SCREEN 1

• “INITIAL DELAY” – THIS IS THE INITIALIZINGTIME (IN SECONDS). WHEN THE SYSTEMFIRST STARTS UP ALARMS ARE DISABLED TOALLOW FLOW TO BE ESTABLISHED.

• “FILL DELAY” – THIS DELAY (IN SECONDS)OCCURS WHEN THE LEVEL SWITCH CALLSFOR FILL WATER BEFORE THE FILL SOLENOIDACTUATES.

• “ FILL TO LONG” – THIS TIME (IN MINUTES)ALARMS AND STOPS THE FILL IF THE LEVELSWITCH HAS BEEN CALLING CONTINOUSLYFOR THIS PERIOD OF TIME.

• “ACCESSORY” – TIME (IN SECONDS) FOR A POSTBACKWASH ACCESSORY, SUCH AS A CHEMICALFEEDER FOR FILTER-AID TO SEASON THE MEDIABEDS AFTER BACKWASH

• “SETTING 5” IS UNASSIGNED.

SYSTEM SETTING SCREEN 2

• “HEATER OVER TEMP SET POINT” –DEGREES OF TEMPERATURE, SET FOR THE“HEATER OVER TEMP SET POINT” WHEN THEWATER TEMPERATURE REACHES THIS SETPOINT, THE HEATER IS SHUT OFF.

• “HEATER OVER TEMP TMR” IS THEDURATION IN SECONDS, SET FOR THE“HEATER OVER TEMPERATURE ALARM”.WHEN THE TEMPERATURE EXCEEDS THESET POINT, THIS TIMER COUNTS DOWNBEFORE ALARM IS SET.

• “LOW FLOW GPM/LPM” – THIS SETTING WILLINITIATE A BACKWASH IN “AUTO” MODE WHENTHE FLOW RATE DROPS BELOW THE SETTINGFOR AN OPERATOR SET TIME.

• “SETTINGS 9 AND 10” ARE UNASSIGNED.

SET ‘TIME OF DAY’ CLOCK AND CONTRAST ADJUSTMENT

TOUCH “EPD” ON THE “MAIN MENU” SCREENTO ACCESS“ENTER PASSWORD TO ACCESSSET-UP SCREENS”

SET TIME OF DAY

TOUCH BOTH UPPER CORNERS AT THESAME TIME.

TOUCH “SYSTEM MODE” AND IN MAIN MENUTOUCH “CLOCK SET” USE THE ARROWS TOSET THE 24 HOUR CLOCK AND DATE, TOUCH“SAVE”, THEN THE “MAIN MENU” TAB ANDFINALLY “RUN” (START).

CONTRAST ADJUSTMENT

TOUCH BOTH UPPER CORNERS AT THE SAME TIME.

TOUCH “ADJUST CONTRAST” AND USE ARROWS TO GETTHE BEST SCREEN THEN CLOSE THE “BOX X”.

CONTROLLER STATUS

TOUCH “STATUS” TO ACCESS THECONTROLLER “SYSTEM STATUS” SCREEN.

THIS SCREEN MAY BE LEFT “ON”TO VIEW THE STATUS OF THESYSTEM DURING OPERATION.

THE CONTROL MODE FOR THE CIRC PUMP AND BACKWASH AS SELECTED ISDISPLAYED (MANUAL, OFF OR AUTOMATIC).

OTHER DISPLAYS ARE:• FLOW GAL/MIN• DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE SIGNAL• WATER TEMPERATURE• DATE• TIME

THE ON/OFF INDICATOR LIGHTS LOCATED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SCREEN, LETSYOU VIEW CURRENT OPERATING CONDITIONS.

NOTE: IF THE “ALARM” FLASHES AS INDICATED ABOVE, TOUCH “ALARM” IN MAINMENU, THEN TOUCH “RESET ALARM” ON “SYSTEM ALARMS” SCREEN. CORRECT THECONDITION AS WOULD BE INDICATED NEXT TO THE PARAMETER DISPLAYED IN“SYSTEM ALARMS”.

TIME CLOCKS STATUS

TOUCH “TIME CLOCK STATUS” ON THEMAIN MENU TO ACCESS THE VIEWINGOF THE “TIME CLOCKS” SCREEN.

THIS SCREEN DISPLAYS THE CONTROLLERSTHREE SEPARATE TIME CLOCKS. THESESETTINGS CAN ONLY BE VIEWED FROM THESESCREENS. SETTINGS ARE INITIATED, CHANGEDOR CLEARED IN “SYSTEM SETUP”.

CIRCULATION PUMP/ENERGY SAVER TIME CLOCK

TOUCH “SYSTEM SET-UP” IN THE MAINMENU TO ACCESS “ENTER PASSWORDTO ACCESS SET-UP SCREENS.”

ENTER PASSWORD (1111) AND THENTOUCH “ENT”. THE “SYSTEM SET-UPMENU” WILL BE DISPLAYED.

TOUCH “TIME CLOCK MENU” TO ACCESS “TIME CLOCK MENU”

TOUCH “CIRCULATION PUMP E-SAVERTIME CLOCK” TO ACCESS “CIRC PUMPTIME CLOCK”

THE “CIRC PUMP/ENERGY SAVER TIME CLOCK”IS A 24 HOUR, 7 DAY TIME CLOCK WITH TWOINDEPENDENTLY PROGRAMMED “OFF” AND“ON” TIMES PER DAY.

WHENEVER THE “1) OFF” OR “2) OFF” TIME IS REACHED THE CIRCULATION PUMPWILL SHUT OFF AT THAT TIME ON THE DAY PROGRAMMED. WHENEVER THE “1) ON”OR “2) ON” TIME IS REACHED THE CIRCULATION PUMP WILL TURN BACK ON AT THETIME OF THE DAY PROGRAMMED. ANY COMBINATION OF “1) OFF”, “2) OFF”, “1) ON”OR “2) ON” TIMES CAN BE USED TO CONTROL THE CIRCULATION PUMP INAUTOMATIC MODE.

THE TIME CLOCK IS A 24 HOUR TIME CLOCK 00:00:00 TO 23:59:59. TO SHUT OFF THECIRCULATION PUMP OFF FROM MONDAY AT 8:00 PM TO TUESDAY AT 6:30 AM SETTHE TIME CLOCK IN A 24 HOUR FORMAT AS FOLLOWS:

EXAMPLE: SELECT “MON” AT BOTTOM OF SCREEN, SELECT “1) OFF HOUR”. SETMONDAY “1) OFF HOUR” AT 20 (8PM) AND SET “1) OFF MIN” AT 00 (ZEROMINUTES). TOUCH “ENT” THEN “ACCEPT”. THIS WILL SHUT OFF THECIRCULATION PUMP AT 8:00 PM.SELECT “TUE” AT BOTTOM OF SCREEN, SELECT “1) ON HOUR”. SETTUESDAY “1 ON HOUR” AT 06 (6AM) AND SET “1) ON MIN” AT 30 (THIRTYMINUTES). TOUCH “ENT” THEN “ACCEPT”. THIS WILL START THECIRCULATION PUMP AT 6:30 AM.NOTE: WHEN THE CIRCULATION PUMP IS SHUT OFF FROM THE TIMECLOCK “OFF” COMMAND IT WILL REMAIN OFF UNTIL THE TIME CLOCK“ON” COMMAND TELLS IT TO TURN BACK ON. FOR EXAMPLE, IF THECIRCULATION PUMP TIME CLOCK FOR MONDAY IS SET AS FOLLOWS:

1) OFF HOUR AT 12 AND 1) OFF MIN AT 00 (12:00 NOON) AND 1) ONHOUR AT 11 AND 1) ON MIN AT 00(11:00AM) AND NO OTHER TIMESARE SET. THE CIRCULATION PUMP WILL ONLY RUN FROM 11:00 AMTO 12:00 NOON ON MONDAY FOR THE ENTIRE WEEK.

TO DISABLE THE TIME CLOCK SETTING, SET THE HOUR AND MINUTE VALUES TO 00.WHEN BOTH THE “1) OFF HOUR”, “1) OFF MIN” ARE SET TO 00 THE SETTING ISIGNORED. THEREFORE 12:00 MIDNIGHT (00:00) CANNOT BE USED AS AN ON OR OFFTIME, 12:01AM MUST BE USED.

THE “ON” AND “OFF” BUTTONS IN THE LOWER RIGHT HAND CORNER OF THE SET-UPSCREEN ARE USED TO ENABLE OR DISABLE THE CIRCULATION PUMP TIME CLOCKREGARDLESS OF THE SETTINGS. TOUCH “T/C MENU” IN THE UPPER LEFT CORNEROF THE SCREEN TO RETURN TO THE TIME CLOCK MENU SCREEN.

BACKWASH CONTROL SCREENS

TOUCH “BACKWASH CONTROL” ONTHE “MAIN MENU” TO ACCESS THE“BACKWASH CONTROL” SCREEN.

THIS DISPLAY SCREEN ALLOWS THEOPERATOR TO MANUALLY BACKWASHTHE FILTER SYSTEM, RUN AUTOMATICALLYOR SHUT COMPLETELY OFF AS DESIRED.

THE BACKWASH CYCLE STARTS AT TANK 1, TANK 2, ETC. UNTIL THE LAST TANK ISCOMPLETED. ON THE NEXT BACKWASH CYCLE, THE CYCLE STARTS WITH THE LASTTANK AND ENDS WITH TANK 1. FOR EXAMPLE IF THE NUMBER OF TANKS ENTEREDIS 5. THE FIRST BACKWASH CYCLE WILL START WITH TANK 1 AND END WITH TANK 5,THE NEXT BACKWASH CYCLE WILL START WITH TANK 5 AND END WITH TANK 1.

NOTE: THE FILTER BACKWASH IS INHIBITED WHEN THE CIRCULATION PUMP IS OFF.CHECK “CIRC PUMP” LIGHT AT BOTTOM OF SCREEN.

MANUAL, OFF OR AUTOMATIC MODES ARE SELECTED BY THE TOUCH SCREENPANEL MAN / OFF /AUTO SWITCH.

• “MAN” – IN MANUAL MODE THE FOLLOWING OCCURS:THE HEATER IS TURNED OFF AND THE HEATER COOL DOWN TIMER COUNTSDOWN.

THE PRESSURE AMPLIFICATION PUMP IS ENERGIZED WHEN A BACKWASH“CYCLE START” IS INITIATED. THE BOOSTER PUMP PRESSURE SWITCH THENCONTROLS THE HYDRAULIC PRESSURE BY TURNING OFF AND ON THEBOOSTER PUMP MOTOR.

THE FOLLOWING VALUES ARE DISPLAYED:

• “OFF” – FILTER BACKWASH IS DISABLED. THIS IS THE NORMAL OPERATINGPOSITION WHEN NO AUTOMATIC BACKWASH FUNCTIONS ARE REQUIRED.BACKWASH MODE LEFT IN “MAN” DISABLES HEATER PERMISSIVE AND ALARMFUNCTIONS.

• “AUTO” – IN THE AUTOMATIC MODE THE BACKWASH CYCLE IS CONTROLLEDBY THE “BACKWASH TIME CLOCK” THE “BACKWASH INHIBIT” TIME CLOCK ANDTHE “DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE SIGNAL”.

HEATER PERMISSIVE

THE HEATER PERMISSIVE IS NOT DESIGNED TO REGULATE THE TEMPERATUREOUTPUT OF THE HEATER BUT TO ACT AS A FAILSAFE FOR RUN-AWAY HEATERCONTROLS. IT IS A PERMISSIVE CLOSED CONTACT THAT IS WIRED IN SERIES WITHTHE HEATER CONTROLS. IT CLOSES WHEN THE CIRCULATION PUMP IS ON ANDFLOW IS ESTABLISHED. IT OPENS DURING BACKWASH CYCLES, ON OVER-TEMPERATURE AND ALARM CONDITIONS AND WHEN BACKWASH MODE IS INMANUAL. DURING THE INITIAL START-UP, THE FILTER SYSTEM AND PIPE LINES MUST BEFLUSHED OF ALL AIR AND THE FILTERING MEDIA INSIDE EACH TANK THOROUGHLYBACKWASHED AT LEAST TWICE TO FLUSH OUT ALL EXTRA FINE MEDIA GRAINSBEFORE YOUR FILTER SYSTEM CAN PERFORM PROPERLY. READ THE FOLLOWINGINSTRUCTIONS THOROUGHLY BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO OPERATE THE FILTER.

2. SHUT-OFF HEATER (BOILER)

WHEN A STEADY STREAM OF WATER EXITS THEAIR RELIEF VALVES, SHUT THEM OFF.

CHECK FOR ANY LEAKS IN THE PIPING SYSTEM JOINTS. TOUCH “OFF” ON THE“CIRCULATION PUMP” SCREEN TO SHUT OFF THE PUMP.

IF NO LEAKS – CONTINUE

AS THE PUMP PICKS UP PRIME AND DISCHARGES INTO THE SYSTEM, THE INFLUENTPRESSURE GAUGE WILL INDICATE A HIGH READING AND THE EFFLUENT A LOWREADING. THIS IS DUE TO THE NEW MEDIA CONTAINING VERY FINE MEDIA GRAINS.THE GAUGES WILL SETTLE DOWN AFTER A THOROUGH BACKWASHING. EXCESSIVEPUMPING FLOW THROUGH THE SYSTEM MUST BE CONTROLLED BY ADJUSTING THEEFFLUENT VALVE.

INFLUENT AND EFFLUENT GAUGESSHOWN IN THE GAUGE PANEL.INFLUENT IS ON LEFT AND THEEFFLUENT IS ON THE RIGHT.

7. ADJUST EFFLUENT RATE OF FLOW

THE EFFLUENT RATE OF FLOW ORTHE PRIORITY VALVE SHOULD BEADJUSTED TO REDUCE THE FLOWRATE TO YOUR SYSTEM FLOW RATE.RE-ADJUSTMENT WILL BE REQUIREDAFTER BACKWASHING.

ADJUST THE BOLT ON THE VALVE COVER COUNTER CLOCKWISE TO DECREASEFLOW UNTIL THE DESIGN FLOW RATE IS INDICATED.

FOR PRIORITY VALVE ADJUSTMENT ON TWO TANKS - IF A PRIORITY VALVE ISINSTALLED ON YOUR SYSTEM, LOOSEN JAM NUT ON BOLT ON THE VALVE COVERAND ADJUST THE BOLT IN (CLOCKWISE) UNTIL THE DESIGN FLOW RATE ISINDICATED, THEN TIGHTEN JAM NUT.

8. INITIATE “START-UP” BACKWASH PROCEDURE

THE INITIAL START-UP BACKWASH PROCEDURE IS DONE IN TWO SEGMENTS, THEFIRST RUN-THROUGH BACKWASH PROCEDURE, ONE MINUTE FOR EACH TANK,FOLLOWED BY A SECOND RUN-THROUGH BACKWASH PROCEDURE OF A FULL5 MINUTES FOR EACH TANK IN YOUR SYSTEM.

NOTE: DURING THE SECONDARY INITIAL BACKWASH PROCEDURE, WHILEBACKWASHING (EACH/THE) TANK FOR FIVE MINUTES, CHECK THE WASTE(BACKWASH) LINE DISCHARGE FOR EXCESSIVE MEDIA DISCHARGE. WITH YOURFINGERTIPS IN THE WASTE DISCHARGE, FEEL FOR MEDIA GRAINS BY RUBBINGYOUR FINGERS TOGETHER. YOU SHOULD DETECT SMALL AMOUNTS OF FINE MEDIAFOR APPROXIMATELY TWO MINUTES IN THE FIVE MINUTES BACKWASH OF EACHTANK. IF YOU DO NOT FIND ANY MEDIA GRAINS, OPEN THE WASTELINE VALVE SLIGHTLY UNTIL YOU BEGIN TO FEEL THE FINE GRAINS OF MEDIA IN THEDISCHARGE WASTE WATER.

CAUTION: (FOR COMMERCIAL FILTRATION APPLICATIONS ONLY) DURING THISSECONDARY INITIAL BACKWASH PROCEDURE, IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT THE FILLLINE FROM THE RAW WATER SOURCE BE TURNED ON, WITH PERIODICOBSERVATION OF THE POOL WATER LEVEL.

CONTINUE THE SECONDARY INITIAL BACKWASH PROCEDURE UNTIL EACH FILTERTANK IN THE SYSTEM HAS BEEN BACKWASHED FOR A FULL FIVE MINUTES.

THE INITIAL BACKWASH PROCEDURE IS ESSENTIAL FOR REMOVAL OF THE FINESPRESENT IN ALL FILTER MEDIA. THE SYSTEM IS ALSO SEEKING ITS HYDRAULICALLYBALANCED OPERATING LEVEL. THIS PROCEDURE WILL NOT BE REQUIRED AGAINUNLESS THE FILTER MEDIA IS BEING REPLACED.

FOLLOWING THE COMPLETION OF THE SECONDARY INITIAL BACKWASHPROCEDURE, ALL TANKS HAVING BACKWASHED FOR FIVE MINUTES, THE PRESSUREGAUGES SHOULD SETTLE DOWN TO THE NORMAL OPERATING PRESSURES.

IF THE GAUGES ARE STILL INDICATING HIGHER THAN NORMAL DIFFERENTIALPRESSURE, ADDITIONAL BACKWASHING WILL BE NECESSARY AS THE MEDIA STILLCONTAINS AMOUNTS OF FINE PARTICLES CAUSING THE HIGH DIFFERENTIALPRESSURE.

10. RE-ADJUST EFFLUENT RATE OF FLOW VALVE

RE-ADJUST THE EFFLUENT RATE OF FLOW VALVE OR THE PRIORITY VALVE TOFINE-TUNE THE FLOW RATE TO YOUR FILTER SYSTEM FLOW RATE. THEN, SHUTOFF CIRCULATION PUMP.

GENERAL OPERATIONSPROGRAM AIF AQUATIC INTELLIGENCE FILTER CONTROLFOR OPERATIONS.

THE AQUATIC INTELLIGENCE FILTER CONTROL (AIF) IS DESIGNED TO MONITORAND CONTROL THE SYSTEMS OPERATIONS OF THE CIRCULATING PUMP,FILTERING AND BACKWASHING OPERATIONS, HEATER AND POOLTEMPERATURES AND WATER MAKE-UP LEVELS.

THE “CONTROLLER STATUS” SCREEN MAY BE LEFT ON FOR CONTINUOUSMONITORING OF THE SYSTEM STATUS, MODES, FLOWS AND TEMPERATURES.TOUCH “SYSTEM STATUS” ON THE “MAIN MENU” SCREEN.

THE (AIF) WILL START-STOP THE CIRCULATION PUMP ON DEMAND ACCORDINGTO SET TIMES AND SHUT DOWN THE HEATER 20 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE PUMPSHUTTING OFF OR A BACKWASH CYCLE CAN BE INITIATED TO PREVENTTHERMAL DAMAGE TO THE HEATER (IF INSTALLED). POOL WATER LEVEL ISMONITORED AND THE (AIF) ACTIVATES THE SOLENOID FILL VALVE WHEN ASIGNAL FROM THE FLOAT SWITCH IS RECEIVED AND SHUTS OFF AT THEDESIGNATED HIGH LEVEL.

AS THE FILTER SYSTEM REMOVES PARTICULATES FROM THE WATER, THESEPARTICULATES FORM ON AND IN THE FILTERING MEDIA. THIS CAUSES ANINCREASE IN PRESSURE TO OCCUR AT THE FILTER INLET AND A DECREASE INTHE OUTLET. AT A GIVEN DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE SETTING ON THE D.P.GAUGE, THE (AIF) CONTROLLER ACTIVATES THE BACKWASH CYCLE ANDRETURNS TO THE FILTERING POSITION AFTERWARDS.

ROTATE THE INDICATOR NEEDLECLOCKWISE TO INCREASE THE DIFFERENTIALPRESSURE SET POINT OR ROTATE COUNTERCLOCKWISE TO DECREASE THE DIFFERENTIALSET POINT.

EFFLUENT WATER QUALITY AND FILTER MEDIA RELATED PROBLEMS:

FILTER MEDIA BEING DISCHARGED OUT THE EFFLUENT

CAUSE: A. UNDER DRAIN SYSTEM OR LATERALS DAMAGED OR INSTALLED INCORRECTLY.

B. INCORRECT MEDIA (EXCESSIVE FINES).

SOLUTION: A. REMOVE REMAINING MEDIA (VIA MEDIA DUMP PORT). REPAIR UNDER DRAIN SYSTEM OR LATERAL AND REINSTALL MEDIAL.

B. CHECK MEDIA SIZE.IF INCORRECT, REPLACE WITHPROPER GRADE.

SOURCE WATER NOT CLEARING UP.

CAUSE: A. INCORRECT MEDIA.

B. RATE OF FLOW IN EXCESS OF 20 GPM PER SQ. FT.OF FILTER AREA.

SOLUTION: A. MANUALLY BACKWASH EACH TANK THOROUGHLY UNTIL WASTE LINE SIGHT GLASS IS CLEAR.

B. MANUALLY BACKWASH THE SYSTEM FOR APPROXIMATELYFIVE (5) MINUTES.

C. REPLACE WITH PROPER SIZE MEDIA AS RECOMMENDED.

D. REMOVE MEDIA, CLEAN OUT SLOTS IN LATERALS WITHRAZOR BLADE AND REPLACE WITH NEW MEDIA.

E. INCREASE BACKWASH FLOW RATE.

C. REMOVE MEDIA, CLEAN OUT SLOTS IN LATERALS WITH RAZORBLADE AND REPLACE WITH NEW MEDIA.

WINTERIZING PROCEDURE

THE EPD FILTER SYSTEM IS EASILY WINTERIZED IF IT IS NOT TO BE IN OPERATIONDURING MONTHS WHICH ENCOUNTER FREEZING TEMPERATURES.

THE RECOMMENDED WINTERIZING PROCEDURE FOR THE FILTER SYSTEM ONLY IS:

NOTE: SEE OTHER ACCESSORY COMPONENT MANUFACTURER’S INSTRUCTIONSRELATED TO FREEZE PROTECTION.

STEP 1: SHUT “OFF” ALL ELECTRICAL POWER OT THE FILTER SYSTEM’S FILTERCONTROL.

STEP 2: DISCONNECT AND DRAIN ALL CONTROL AND SENSOR TUBING; RE-ATTACHAFTER COMPLETELY VOID OF WATER.

STEP 3: REMOVE WINTERIZING PLUG(S) FROM TANK DRAIN PORT(S), AND OPEN AIRRELIEF VALVE(S).

STEP 4: LOOSEN BOLTS ON BACKWASH VALVE COVER(S) AND DRAIN WATER FROMVALVE ACTUATOR CYLINDER.

STORE ALL PLUGS WITH OR NEAR THE FILTER SYSTEM FOR REINSTALLATION ATTIME OF START UP.
