FIRST COMMUNION: We will have eight students celebrating their First Communion next Sunday, April 18th, at the 9:00am

Mass. Their families will be present to help them celebrate. If you are wanting to maintain greater social distancing, we encourage you to

attend Mass on Saturday evening.

HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS: It’s that time…..please bring a billfold size Senior picture to the Parish Office for the

graduation Mass & reception. You can also drop it in an envelope in the collection basket or mail it in if you wish.

OVERCOMING LUST: We all know that our culture is filled with sexual immorality. In everything from advertisements,

award shows, movies and television shows, to everyday clothes that people wear, we are exposed to images, ideas, and actions that

can lead us down a path of sexual immorality, leading to serious problems, habits, and additions. This has become such a major

issue that even the state of Arizona declared pornography a public health crisis in 2019. We know the problem is severe when

even secular society declares it a crisis. If you are one of the majority of people who struggle in this area, we’d like to help. Y ou

can find a free copy of the book, Forged, in the back of church. This 33-day journey designed specifically for boys & men can

help participants develop a truer understanding of love, while also developing hope, insights, and skills to help break these habits

and addictions. Church is unlocked during daylight hours, so please stop by anytime to pick up your free copy of Forged.

COFFEE & ROLLS: We will hold our monthly Coffee & Rolls on Sunday, April 11th in the Parish Center

after the 9:00am Mass. Please note that this is the SECOND Sunday of the month, due to the first Sunday falling on

Easter. Father will do a birthday and anniversary blessing for those celebrating in April.

Divine Mercy Sunday

In a series of revelations to St. Maria Faustina Kowalska in the 1930s, our Lord called for a special feast day to be celebrated on the Sunday after Easter. Today, we know that feast as Divine Mercy Sunday, named by Pope St. John Paul II at the canonization of St. Faustina on April 30, 2000. The Lord expressed His will with regard to this feast in His very first revelation to St. Faustina. The most

comprehensive revelation can be found in her Diary entry 699: My daughter, tell the whole world about My inconceivable mercy. I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and a shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners. On that day the very depths of My tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the fount of My mercy. The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. On that day are opened all the divine floodgates through which graces flow. Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet. My mercy is so great that no mind, be it of man or of angel, will be able to fathom it throughout all eternity. Everything that exists has come from the very depths of My most tender mercy. Every soul in its relation to Me will contemplate My love and mercy throughout eternity. The Feast of Mercy emerged from My very depths of tenderness. It is My desire that it be solemnly celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter. Mankind will not have peace until it turns to the Fount of My mercy.

In all, St. Faustina recorded 14 revelations from Jesus concerning His desire for this feast.

Nevertheless, Divine Mercy Sunday is NOT a feast based solely on St. Faustina's revelations. Indeed, it is not primarily about St. Faustina — nor is it altogether a new feast. The Second Sunday of Easter was already a solemnity as the Octave Day of Easter. The title "Divine Mercy Sunday" does, however, highlight the meaning of the day.

DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY: The Di-

vine Mercy Prayer Service will be held at

3:00pm on Sunday, April 11th, at St.

Rose Church in Great Bend. The hour will

include Eucharistic Exposition, the Chaplet

of Divine Mercy in song, litany of prayers

and meditation. Jesus entrusted St. Maria Faustina with the

task of spreading the message of His Divine Mercy through a

series of visions and interior locutions in the 1930s. When

Pope John Paul II canonized St. Faustina on April 30, 2000,

he declared the Sunday after Easter to be Divine Mercy Sun-

day and an official feast day of the Church. Everyone is en-

couraged to pray the novena to the Divine Mercy, which be-

gins on Good Friday. Leaflets on this novena are in the bro-

chure rack of the church. Confessions will be heard through-

out the prayer service. This prayer service is sponsored by

Divine Mercy Radio, KRTT, 88.1.

JUST A REMINDER: If you are writing a check for

a Mass stipend, please make the check out to “St. John’s

Stipend Fund.” This includes Masses to be said at St.

Ann’s in Olmitz.

STEWARDSHIP MESSAGE FOR APRIL 11th: The Christian community described in Acts understood and

practiced total stewardship. St. Paul reports that the believers

did not claim anything as their own, but held everything in com-

mon, and distributed to each whatever was needed.

POSITION OPEN: After 17 years, St. Joseph Catholic School in Ellinwood, KS, is seeking a teaching principal for our K-8

program. In addition to the leadership role, the position includes teaching at the middle school level. The qualified candidates

should be a practicing Catholic with teaching experience. Founded in 1885, with an enrollment of approximately 80 students, the
