April drums up some serious percussion with Alan Hall, Dillon Vado and Jeremy Steinkoler performing in Drummers Up Front! (5) and teaching Groove Making and Leading from Behind (7). Our 3-part Percussion Series kicks off with Jim Santi Owen’s Intro to Indian Rhythms and Percussion (14) and Ami Molinelli’s Intro to Brazilian Rhythms and Percussion (28). E. J. Strickland’s Jazz Drumming Workshop (21), Mauricio Zottarelli’s Brazilian Drum Set (7), Knucklebean: Music of Eddie Marshall (13), and Jason Levis Septet (23) round out the rhythmic month. Vocalists can broaden their jazz vision in April with Theo Bleckmann’s Contemporary Jazz Vocal Master Class (20); Sandy Cressman’s Discovering Jazz Vocal Style (7); and Maye Cavallaro’s Unsung Gems from The Great American Songbook series (7, 14, 28).

CJC Brazilian Chair Marcos Silva celebrates a much anticipated CD release this month (6), while our Jazzschool Studio Band and our Blue & Green Ensembles hold fundraisers (14, 19), and our own Susan Muscarella is reuniting with Kenny Washington for a rare concert (26) to round out our April offerings.

Shower your friends with jazz by sharing our April calendar on social media, on your bulletin board and with your fellow jazzers! Thank you for passing it along!
