Hello! Lent finishes in two weeks! How has your lent been going? Do you feel like you are stronger spiritually? Have you stretched yourself in prayer, fasting, and almsgiving? Do you feel better prepared to celebrate Jesus at Easter? How about your spouse, or your children? Have you talked about it together?

Please stop reading, take a couple minutes to reflect by yourself if you are alone, or get the family together if they are all present. Invite them to share how they are feeling without judgements, and be willing to be open and frank with them as well. When you are done, come back and resume reading.

No matter where you or your family are in their progress this lent, I would like you to try the following ideas AS A FAMILY. Please let me know at Easter how they worked out for you and them!

Parents: Have one parent read a chapter of the Gospel of Mark to your family each day between now and Easter. You may need to read an extra chapter or two to finish by Easter Sunday. Open with a brief prayer, read the chapter, discuss words, phrases, people, or events that caught your attention. Have the other parent read the chapter again. Close with the Angelus (see the MyParish app under prayers)

Youth: Search YouTube for the words Eucharistic flash mob. If there are several youth in the family, each youth pick a video and show your family. Tell your family what you thought about it. Would you be brave enough to take part in one?

Youth: Google the phrase Eucharistic miracle. Find three and tell your family about what happened. Ask yourself, why does God choose to reveal Himself in these? How does He want me to feel about Him? Does someone I know need help in developing more faith that Jesus is truly present with us? Share what you have learned with that person!

All: Experience the sacrament of reconciliation (confession) on Saturday, April 13 starting at 9AM. If you haven’t been to reconciliation in a while use the MyParish app and look for the confession button to help guide you to make a good confession.

All: Afterwards, spend at least five minutes in the adoration chapel with Jesus. Our goal as a Parish should be for 2019 to make the adoration chapel one of the busiest loca-tions in our Church!

I’m excited to hear from you! Your fellow servant in Christ, Chris

Dear Jesus, in everything I say and in everything I do, in everything today may it glorify you! PSA: ANY RELIGIOUS EDUCATION STUDENT PREPARING FOR FIRST COM-

MUNION WHO HAS NOT RECEIVED THE SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION MUST

ATTEND ON APRIL 13! CHECK IN WITH ME THAT DAY SO I CAN REGISTER THE DATE.

OUR LENTEN OFFERING Our next weekend Sat. April 13 & Sun. April 14th Our Lenten Offering will be for the Home Bound and Nursing home folks of our own St. Anthony Parish. These are folks, because of ageing or illness, cannot get to church, so extraordinary ministers take Holy Commun-ion to them on a regular basis. We have about 25-30 home bound folks, and about 20 parishioners in nursing homes. We want to show them that we are thinking about them and haven’t forgotten them. We will collect fresh fruit and cookies/snacks to give to them from our parishioners, plus cards of good wishes from the St. Anthony and PRE school children. The home bound will be notified of someone calling on them on Palm Sunday. Our extraordinary ministers will be assisting in the delivery of the fruits and snacks. If any-one in the parish wishes to visit one of the home-bound with these gifts, please let us know (Stephanie at 244-4709) and we would be happy to have you help. We are meeting downstairs on Sunday, April 14th after the 11:00 Mass (around 12:00) to put the gifts together and deliver them. Our list is for: apples, oranges, bananas, small melons, small boxes of raisins, small jars of jelly, small boxes of crackers, small containers of pudding (prepared), cookies (bought or homemade), and some individually wrapped candy.

St. Teresa of Avila said, “It is love alone that gives worth to all things.” May God bless

you for your acts of love and charity.

Is God’s will in your will?

From Msgr. Frank Chiodo

Friends, This week the bishop released some very important information with regard to sexual abuse. A list has been re-leased and is available on the diocesan website: www.dmdiocese.org/victim-assistance and the Catholic Mirror’s upcoming issue. We continue to stand in faith filled solidarity with those who are victims of abuse of any kind by anyone. Anyone who may not have reported an allegation of sexual abuse by clergy is urged to come forward. As we continue our journey through Lent, I am sharing with you the Examination of the Conscience from the Catholic Truth Society. A remind-er, Communal Penance is scheduled for Sat. Apr. 13th starting at 9:00AM in the church.

EXAMINATION OF CONSCIENCE SINS AGAINST MYSELF AND OTHERS

Have I been impatient, angry, or jealous? Have a brooded over injuries or refused to forgive? Have I taken part in or encouraged abortion, the destruction of human embryos, euthanasia or any means of taking human life? Have I been verbally or physically violent to others? Have I been racist in my thoughts, words or deeds? Have I hurt anyone by speaking badly about them? Have I betrayed confidences without good cause or revealed things simply to hurt others? Have I judged others rashly? Have I been drunk or used illegal drugs? Have I spoken in an obscene way? Have I looked at obscene pictures, films or books? Have I been involved in any impure behavior on my own or with someone else? Have I told lies to excuse myself, to hurt others or to make myself look more important? Have I failed to contribute to the support of the Church in proportion to my means? Have I cheated my employers or employees? Have I encouraged others to do wrong in any way? Blessings,
