LIFELINES

I fear that the federal government’s respect for believers and people of conscience no longer measures up to the treatment Americans have a right to expect from their elected representatives. The new approach [in the Notice of Proposed Rule-Making regarding the HHS “contraceptive mandate”] even threatens to undermine access to quality health care, by telling providers as well as those who offer or purchase insurance that they need to drop their participation in the health care system if they want to preserve their religious and moral integrity. A restoration of full respect for one of our Nation’s founding values is urgently needed. ~Most Rev. William E. Lori, Archbishop of Baltimore, Chairman of the USCCB Ad Hoc Committee on Religious Liberty, Letter to Members of Congress (February 15, 2013)

PARISH PRAYER CHAIN

If you would like to help respond to prayer requests (for anyone in need-not just parish members), please contact Rosalynd Perlick-Spenser (663-2212), Susie Reichlen (553-2618), or Mary Keenan (553-2431). If you have actual prayer requests, please call anyone on the list and many prayers will be offered for your particular intention.

ADORATION HOURS OPEN AT ST. AUGUSTINE CHURCH!

Adoration runs from 5:00AM to Midnight, Monday through Friday. The chapel is closed during inclement weather. If the adorer is sick, going away on a trip or otherwise unable to keep their hour, a substitute will be available to keep it for them. God will bless you, your family and the world a thousand times as much for this sacrifice of making a holy hour because God cannot be outdone in generosity.

During our Holy Hour our souls are fed in two faculties of the spirit—the Mind and the Will. In the Mind we need light; in the Will we need strength. (Fr. John Hardon)

Sign up sheets are in the pews in both St. Augustine and St. Francis Churches. If you desire to sign up for an hour of Adoration, please place your completed sheet in the collection basket or call Andrea Chen (1-607-669-4875).
