WELCOME BACK! We hope you all had a wonderful break and a great Easter. The students have come back to school energised and seemingly ready for what will be an exciting, challenging and extremely busy term. STAFFING NEWS Graeme Russell is on leave for the first three weeks of this term. It is great to see Claire Saliba back on board returning from illness. We are also pleased to have Teresa Kinniff join our Educational Support staff team. ANZAC CEREMONY This year we will be conducting our Anzac Day Ceremony as part of our normal assembly at 9am this Friday 26th April. Our school captains have been visiting classrooms with a range of items on sale for the annual Anzac Appeal. Items range in price from $2.00 to $5.00. Thank you for your support. There will be no awards presented at this week’s assembly. This year a number of our students will be performing in a choir at the Boronia RSL’s Anzac Day Dawn Service on Dorset Road, Boronia. Thanks to Colin Hartley for organising this. TRANSITION YEAR 6 TO 7 This week, all families with a child in Grade 6 will receive an In-formation Pack regarding transition to Year 7. Within that pack is a form (2 pages) which must be completed by the parents, signed and returned to the classroom teacher by Friday 17th May. There can only be one form per student. If you have any questions or have not received the information pack, please see your child’s classroom teacher. 2020 PREP ENROLMENTS We continue to have great interest in our school with many tours booked for the next few weeks. Current families who have not already collected and completed an enrolment form for their 2020 Prep child please do so as soon as possible. Also if you know of a family who may be considering enrolling at TBPS, please let them know we are currently taking enrolments and they can arrange a tour or collect a Prep information package from the office. Receiving this information early assists with our 2020 planning.

PRINCIPAL’S NEWS

EDUCATION WEEK From 19th May to 25th May schools will showcase and celebrate excellence in education through open days, exhibitions and special events. This year, the Department of Education & Training’s theme is ‘Celebrating Careers’ and teachers will have activities in their class-rooms around this topic. Our school will hold an Open Night on Wednesday 22nd May from 6pm to 7:30pm. PLAY IS THE WAY You may have read in the previous newsletter that all staff will be attending a professional development day in Week One of Term Three on Friday July 19th which will be a student free day. Whilst this timing is not ideal, we have been extremely fortunate to secure the presenter and founder of Play Is The Way - Wilson McCaskill. Wilson will be running a full day session here in our gym for our entire staff. To clarify details of this program, Play Is The Way is a physically interactive games program run in the playground, to develop per-sonal and social capabilities through games. This program IS NOT the Kathy Walker play-based learning approach for classrooms. HATS According to Sun Smart Policy, the wearing of hats during breaks is compulsory at school until Tuesday April 30th. Dale Goldsmith and Donna Krenn
