CATHOLIC HOME MISSIONS APPEAL ~ TODAY

Many dioceses right here in the United States do not have enough priests and trained lay ministers to serve their parishes. These dioceses are known as home

missions. The Catholic Home Missions Appeal, which will take place this weekend in the second collection, supports these dioceses by funding essential ministries, including seminary education and lay ministry training. Please be generous in this appeal and share your resources to strengthen the Church at home.

SECOND COLLECTION NEXT WEEKEND

The Second Collection next weekend is for the Care & Education of Priests.

COMMUNION SERVICES THIS WEEK

Deacon Ken will be holding Communion Services this week on Tuesday, at 8:30AM at St. Augustine Church, Wednesday at 8:30AM at St. Francis Xavier Church, and Thursday at 8:30AM at St. Francis Xavier Church. Anyone and everyone is welcome to attend.

PARISH LOTTERY CALENDARS ~ DRAWINGS HAVE BEGUN There are (7) Calendars that were returned unsold. They are available in the back of the Church. They are $ 20.00 each and run thru December 31st. Please sign them out on the sheet provided. To date 906 calendar returns have been made, leaving 94 that haven’t been returned. Please remember it is time to make your returns with stubs included! Please help to make this very important fund raiser a success again this year!

PARISH SPRING BANQUET

Our Spring Banquet will be held Wednesday, May 18th, at 6:00PM, at the Blue Dolphin in Apalachin. The menu is: Marinated Chicken, Rice Pilaf & salad; Meatloaf, Virginia Baked Ham, & Crab Cakes with choice of potato & Salad. (Potato choices are French Fries, Baked Potatoes, or Mashed Potatoes—choice must be indicated on the sign up sheet in the back of the Church.) Dessert is also

included. Cost is $ 20.00 per person. All money needs to be in by May 15th. Please put money in a marked envelope in the collection or give to an Altar & Rosary Society member. Please join us for a wonderful meal and night out with friends. Anyone in the Parish (men, women, or friends) is welcome to attend. Susanne Wolf will be our guest speaker this year.

CHOIR / CANTOR PRACTICE Choir/Cantor practice is held Tuesday evening at 6:00PM in St. Francis Church. New members are always welcome. A few more Cantors are still needed. If you are willing to leading the congregation in song, please contact Marilee Beyer (570-934-0976) for more information and training.

ST. AUGUSTINE CEMETERY MEETING

St. Augustine Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting on Saturday, April 30th at 12Noon at St. Augustine Church.

CHURCH SOFTBALL

Church Softball League play begins Saturday, May 7th. The first game is in Camptown at 6:30PM. If you would like to play on our team or have questions, please call Sean Kelly at (570-744-2010).

ANNUAL ST. BRIGID PARISH GARAGE SALE AT NEUMANN CENTER

The Annual Garage Sale at Neumann Center, Choconut will be held Friday & Saturday, May 20 & 21, from 8AM to 6:00PM. You can participate in one of the following ways: Rent a table for $ 5.00 to sell your own treasures. You may set up after 5:00PM on Thursday, May 19th OR donate items to the Parish to be sold. Items must be clean, usable, and working. We will accept clean children’s clothing this year. We will accept items on Thursday, May 19th, after 5:00PM. If you have questions or to reserve a table, please call Homan’s at 553-2860. THERE ARE GYM LOCKERS FOR SALE IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED. These can be purchased prior to the Garage Sale. Please call the Homan’s if you are interested.

The B/S/S/T Area Agency on Aging, Inc. cordially invites you to attend a "Eat and Greet" Event on Thursday, May 12th, Neumann Hall, Choconut. This event is open to community seniors age 60 or older and their spouse of any age. There will be an 11:00AM program "A stitch in time." presented by Tracey Marconi. THE SECULAR FRANCISCAN ORDER

The Secular Franciscan Order (formerly known as the Third Order of Saint Francis) is in its eighth century of existence. Through these 800 years, the Lord has gathered people together in the way of St. Francis. The purpose of Francis and his followers is to live the Gospel within the everyday world, one day at a time. The Little Meadows Volunteer Fire Company is having an Open House for their new station on Sunday, May 1st. There will be a parade at 2:00PM followed by dedication of the new station. Refreshments will be served. All are welcome to attend.

MOM’S HOUSE HART & HILLS MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT

This Mom’s House fund raiser will be held Saturday, July 23rd at The Links at Hiawatha Landing, in Apalachin. Cost is $ 100.00 which includes golf, cart, lunch, dinner, and prizes. Early Bird registration—Player paid in full by June 1st receives a free mulligan. Registration forms are available in the back of our Churches.

FOSTER GRANDPARENTS NEEDED

Foster Grandparents are needed in Bradford, Sullivan, Susquehanna, and Tioga Counties. The Foster Grandparent program helps both low-income seniors and special needs children. The program provides seniors with a modest tax free stipend of $ 2.65 per hour for working with children that may have academic, physical, or home challenges. Foster Grandparents are in school grandmas and grandpas, who help children, succeed. They will be assigned to a school or Head Start near their home and will mentor children under the direction of a teacher. If you have questions, feel free to call Mary Beth at 1-800-982-4346. As Ss. Peter & Paul celebrate their 175th Anniversary Year, numerous interesting, inspiring and fun activities are being planned!
