QR SCAN CODE – Now Available: Electronic Giving! Zions is pleased to announce a convenient new way to make your regular offerings. With our new electronic giving program, you can easily set up a recurring giving schedule or make one-time contributions. We encourage you to set up a schedule of recurring contributions. It’s convenient for you and provides much-needed consistency for our church. If you are currently giving on a weekly basis, you will no longer need to write out 52 checks a year or prepare 52 envelopes. Even when travel, illness

or other circumstances prevent you from attending services, our church will continue to receive your contributions on an uninterrupted basis. To become an electronic giver, visit the church website at: zionsweatherly.org/giving.

BOTTLE CAPS – The library is collecting Coca~Cola bottle caps. A container has been placed in the vestibule. The codes on these caps will be redeemed to help the library. So spread the word and collect from your family and friends. Thank you for your support.

These bags have a small snack, coloring pages & crayons in them to occupy your young ones. Please return the bags after church so they can be refilled & used for next time. Donations of items for the bags are greatly appreciated. Please see Ginny Houser or drop off at the church office. Thank you.

150 Years

1900-1917 The Ministry of Rev. William Penn Barr In 1903, the Rev. William Penn Barr was installed as pastor of Zions Church. He served the congregation from 1903-1917. Prior to his pastorate the congregation was not financially able to complete the church's interior and services were held in an unplastered nave furnished with school benches and orange crates. A common store box served as the pulpit. The parishioners carried the organ, a melodian, to and from the church each Sunday to provide proper accompaniment for singing the liturgy and hymns. During Rev. Barr's ministry the church building was enlarged and remodeled. As part of the project the church was raised and through manual excavation, the Sunday School area was completed beneath the church. The work began in April of 1904 and was completed in November of that same year for a total cost of $7,250.00. Continuing under Rev. Barr in 1912 the congregation considered the purchase of a pipe organ. The organ was purchased from the Moller Organ Company for $2,335.00. When the organ was dedicated on September 15, 1912, the financial obligation had been met in full. On June 1, 1915 a set of chimes was installed in memory of Mrs. Lydia Friedenbach. In February of 1915 at the congregation's special meeting it was unanimously decided to metal the interior of the church building and to install a new lighting system. The work was completed in April 1916 and the church nave was reopened. Much was accomplished at Zions Lutheran Church during the pastorate of The Rev. William Penn Barr.
