Dear P.S. 39 Families,

Thank you for attending the March 19th PTA Meeting. Congratulations to our Leader of the Month and Spirit Award recipients. Great job!

Our next PTA meeting will take place on April 30th @ 9:00 a.m. It is an important meeting and we encourage all to attend. According to the Chancellor’s Regulation A - 660, a Nominating Committee for the 2013-2014 slate, consisting of at least five members, will be formed at the next PTA meeting on April 30th. The Nominating Committee shall canvass the membership in writing, and at the April membership meeting, for nominations of eligible candidates for all Association officer and School Leadership Team positions. In performing this function, the Committee shall exercise diligence to recruit and present a list of candidates that is representative of the diverse population of the school, but may not exclude from the list of candidates any member of the Association who desires to run for office who is eligible for office. Elections will be held at the May 28th PTA meeting.

We would like to announce the addition of Danielle Grippo as our Parlimentarian. Ms. Grippo has been invaluable to us, volunteering at almost every function. We look forward to working with her for the remainder of the year. Welcome Danielle. Our Scholastic Book Fair was a great success. Thank you for your support.

Retake pictures from LifeTouch should be received within the next 2 weeks.

Your child will be sent home with a booklet for FunPasta. We are trying to raise as much money as possible

with this so that we may pay for a wonderful full size planner from the Leader In Me program for every child in

the school for the 2013-2014 school year and also for graduate gifts for our 5th

grade class 2012-2013. Mrs.

Wright feels that it will promote independence, organization and responsibility for the student’s school work

and promote leader qualities within our children. We think it will definitely help with the home-school

connection. If every student sold 2 packages of pasta, we would meet this goal.

Welcome back to Spring and the month of April! Time is going by very quickly for all of us. Hope everyone had an enjoyable spring break and are ready to move ahead to more exciting happening here at P.S. 39. We are in the final two weeks of our Parents as Arts Partners community dance program. Once again it was a huge success and I thank everyone who took the time out of their schedule to participate with their child in this fun activity. There will be plenty of pictures up on the school website shortly so please take a look. This year we held a raffle for parents who turned in their survey either online or in the mail by our March deadline. We are happy to congratulate the three winners of the Target gift card: Madison Hernandez Class 3-309, Asala Abuzahrieh Class 4-305, and Joshua Williams Class 5-310. Thank you for being so supportive and getting your surveys in early. There will be a workshop on April 11th presented by our UPK Social Worker titled “Sibling Rivalry”. This workshop is a lot of fun and you can get some very good tips on helping your child get along socially and emotionally not only with siblings but with classmates and friends as well. The workshop begins at 8:30 a.m. and light refreshments will be served. Our stop and drop is beginning to improve nicely. A special thank you to those parents/guardians who are taking a few extra minutes to either arrive earlier or come around the block and wait on line. Let us all work together to keep the children out of harms way. Also please remember to not block any driveways on the block in case our neighbors need to exit for an emergency.
