March 12 From the Gala the past Friday, President Brad told the Club that the Rotarian of the Year award was awarded to Lauri McLeod. She was in shock the entire weekend. She was especially surprised by her children appearing to also congratulate her on her accomplishments with Rotary. Speaking of the Gala Event, it was reported that we raised over $91,000 that night. President Brad also announced Sumner Rotary participating in another project. Specifically, Sumner Rotary will be donating approximately $20,000 towards the purchase of replacement playground equipment for Daffodil Elementary school. The local PTA had raised $1,100, but that simply was not going to be enough money for the project. The older equipment had been “condemned” as too old and unsafe. The new equipment will serve about 500 children and even more children on the weekends given its proximity to Daffodil Park.
