3:15 pm – 4:15 pm: Influencing Change through CollaborationDr. Jerry D. VanVactor, FAHRMM, Health Care Logistician

Presentation Objectives: Can leaders influence change in organizational behavior through collaborative

communications? Does permitting multifaceted ownership of processes throughout an organization aid in

creating opportunities for change? How can change be inculcated into organizational processes and behavior? Who can best use collaborative communications? How can change help improve processes throughout an organization?

Take Aways – Organizational change can be tough! Our organizations can be influenced by many factors – from our environment within which we work to the ideas of the people with whom we work. Too often managers hear the expression, "we've never done it that way before" when proposing a change in the way an organization performs. In this presentation, I posit (based upon research) that leaders can influence change among organizational behavior through collaborative communications - permitting ownership of processes at multiple levels of employment throughout an organization. Some of the prevalent points within this presentation will include what collaborative communication is, how it can be inculcated into organizational processes and behavior, who can use collaborative communications, and how it can help improve processes throughout an organization. While tailored to health care supply chain management, the concepts can be equally applied across multiple industries and fields of study.
