Dear St. Peter Families,

Last night we enjoyed the opportunity to celebrate many of the academic successes happening at St. Peter!

~A few selections of the students’ artwork created in their art classes were on display… 7th grade Van Gogh

“Starry Night” masterpieces, 6th grade’s exploration of modern techniques through their poured painting projects

and recycled artwork and creative writing pieces, 3rd grade students’ beautiful Japanese cherry blossom scrolls

with positive messages written in Japanese, 2nd grade students’ re-creation of “Great Waves” after studying

about the work and life of Hokusai, and our kindergarten students learned how to create art “ishly” with water-

color crayons and black glue resist after reading the book Ish.

~We discussed in more detail the wonderful student growth in math, reading and language usage on our MAP Win-

ter Assessment, and how our teachers use this data to better guide their instruction for each student.

~We celebrated that our school winner, 7th grader Justin Mott, qualified to compete in the State Level Geogra-

phy Bee in Baton Rouge and thanked Mrs. Pescay, our school’s Geography Bee coordinator, for her work in coordi-

nating this for our school.

~We also announced that our Quiz Bowl Team qualified for the National Quiz Bowl Championship in Orlando, Flor-

ida in June after coming in second place in the Brother Martin Quiz Bowl!

~Our enrichment electives will continue to be offered to our 6th and 7th grade students again next year. We will

be sending information home to those students soon!

~We are looking at expanding our math lab next year to include more grade levels and hopefully also add an ELA

Lab!

~I also shared information about our ACT Aspire testing which will be next week for our 3rd- 7th grade students.

Attached is more information. Please keep our students… and teachers in your prayers to be able to do their best

on the assessments next week!

Thank you for the entrustment of your children to our school. We know that we are able to do what we do be-

cause of your support at home and the wonderful work of our teachers and staff! We have much to be thankful

for!

Families in Virtue

The Miller Family

We are the Miller family: Eric, Tina, Abby (14), Carly (7), and Jack

(4). In our family, we try to live out the virtue of perseverance by

helping each other relate the difficult times in our lives with the diffi-

cult moments in the life and death of Jesus. We try to point out to each

other God’s presence in all the beautiful things in life as well as His

presence in the difficult times. A few words of encouragement or ask-

ing what would Jesus do, sometimes is just enough to help our family

persevere. Lent is a beautiful reminder to us that whether it is a

scraped knee, hurt feelings or an illness, Jesus suffered for us all and

we are not alone. We try to give examples of how Jesus persevered

through His suffering and even His death that the kids can relate to.

This helps us to keep moving forward and work hard to get through

those tough times. We feel very blessed to be a part of a Church and a

family that gently reminds us of Jesus’ presence and love in our day to

day lives.

Thank you to our 7th Grade Altar Servers for

their service over their years at St. Peter School.
