Each apprenticeship has its own entry requirements. If you have grades 9-4 (A*-C) in English and maths, you will be eligible for most of our apprenticeships. Some have higher requirements such as our Digital Marketer apprenticeship which requires 4 x 9-4 (A*-C) GCSEs including English and maths.

Entry requirements are listed on each apprenticeship overview (see page 11).

If you don’t have 9-4 (A*-C) in English and maths, you will be required to take a Basic and Key Skill Builder (BKSB) initial assessment. This is a short online test which assesses your English and maths, the results of which determine which apprenticeships and which levels you are eligible for.

OVERVIEWHealth and social care apprentices treat people with dignity and as individuals, ensuring their lives are enriched and improved with their compassionate approach. You may work with the elderly, the disabled, people with learning disabilities or people with mental health issues. OVERVIEWSenior healthcare support apprentices help registered practitioners deliver healthcare services to people in need. As an experienced support worker, you will carry out a range of clinical and non-clinical healthcare or therapeutic tasks, under the direct or indirect supervision of the registered healthcare practitioner. You will be trained to provide high quality, compassionate healthcare, following standards, policies or protocols and always acting within the limits of your competence.


TYPICAL TASKSFollowing care plans; supporting individuals to eat, drink, wash and dress; measuring and recording temperature and body mass index; supporting clinicians in providing minor surgery.
