Basic information about education

ECTS system – basics

ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) – is a standard

means for comparing academic credits, i.e., the "volume of learning based

on the defined learning outcomes and their associated workload" for higher

education across the European Union and other collaborating European

countries.

ECTS credits are used to facilitate transfer and progression throughout the

European Union. ECTS also includes a standard grading scale, intended to be

shown in addition to local (i.e. national) standard grades.

A course is only passed when all of its forms, forming

‚a group’ are passed

Page 10: Applied ComputerScience (ISTAN)

ECTS system – basics

All groups of courses (subject) have corresponding ECTS points.

In order to pass the semester, student needs to pass all chosen courses that

they enrolled on at the beginning of the semester.

Every course may end with an exam, written final test (PL: kolokwium),

midterm test or passing a project or report. The course may be passed on

some other rules, given by the teacher at the beginning of the semester.

If you will not pass the course, you will have deficit of ECTS

points.

ECTS system – basics

According to the program of study (confirmed by the University’s Senate)

each semester student has to get 30 ECTS points, constructing his schedule

with the subjects:

– - mandatory – you have to pass them mandatorily

– - complementary of general education – language courses, „human-

management” subjects, sport courses

– - selectable

Page 12: Applied ComputerScience (ISTAN)

12

Each student must be enrolled on courses by means of Edukacja.CL system

individually.

The enrolment must be finished at the beginning of semester (according to

the approved schedule and financial regulations).

The student can not attend and pass any course without enrolling first.

The student that had enrolled on a course and than have never showed up

on that course cannot get credit for that course.

A course can be cancelled but the cancellation must be well-founded (e.g.

long-lasting illness).

The second and further undertaking of a course is allowed but it is liable to

extra payment

The fourth realization of the course – consent of the Dean is required

The fifth realization of the course – consent of the Rector is required
