EMPLOYMENT AND PERMANENT RESIDENCYInternational students may work up to 20 hours per week during their semester and extra points can be given to your permanent residency application if you have lived and studied for a degree, diploma or trade quali� cation in Geelong for 2 years.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTSTo enrol in a Gordon Institute of TAFE Certi� cate, Diploma, Advanced Diploma course, you require:

• Successful completion of Year 12 or its equivalent; or

• Successful completion of Year 11 or its equivalent (for some certifi cate level courses); or

• Mature aged applicants over the age of 18 who been out of full-time secondary education for at least 12 months and have relevant work experience

AND

• IELTS Academic score of 5.5 with no band score below 5.0 or its equivalent; or

• Gordon Institute of TAFE Upper Intermediate English Certifi cate; or

• Evidence that English is the language of instruction in previous studies

ENGLISH LANGUAGE UNITThe Gordon Institute English Language Unit is a highly regarded provider of English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS) and located at the Gordon’s City Campus, which is conveniently situated only 100 metres from the Geelong Railway Station and local bus stops. Specialising in all levels of English language study, the unit’s quali� ed and experienced sta� can assist students to achieve the level of English they require for entry into the Gordon’s range of programs.

PATHWAYS AND CREDIT TRANSFER TO AUSTRALIAN UNIVERSITIESThe Gordon Institute of TAFE has established Credit Transfer arrangements with Australian Universities. These arrangements can mean a reduction of 6 to 18 months to the amount of study time normally required to complete a degree. On successful completion of a Gordon Institute of TAFE quali� cation and subject to the university rules and regulations Gordon graduates can apply to study a related degree program at Australian Universities.

The Gordon has established excellent pathway programs into Deakin University with students able to gain credit for their studies at the Gordon and be issued with a Joint Letter of O� er. Information on Deakin University courses can be found at www.deakin.edu.au/courses/advancestanding.php.
