Note to parents
Dear parents,
We have designed this weekly diary to help us to develop an
effective partnership for the benefit of our children.
By working together we can
Improve our children’s reading of the Quran.
Help to get the most benefit from the books they read.
Increase the children’s knowledge and understanding of
Islam.
On the following pages, you will find diary record sheets.
Please
Look at each day’s marks with your child. Occasionally
there may also be some comments that you will need to
check and act on.
Support your child in their preparation before coming to
the Madrasa. Please mark in the diary whether your
child has prepared for the lesson.
Write a note in the diary if there are any comments you
wish to make. Remember that positive comments can
also encourage your child.
Most important - enjoy working with your child at
home.
Standards of our Madrasa
We will
Attend all of our lessons.
Always arrive on time.
Greet others with Salaams.
Come prepared for our lessons.
Wear appropriate Islamic clothing e.g.
Students: Jubba or kufni with topi for boys
and burkah or scarf/burkhi with a dress for
girls.
Parents and Teachers: Modest Islamic clothes.
Show and treat others with respect.
Treat the Quran and kitabs with respect.
Look after our Madrasa and the equipment in
it.
100% Attendance
100% attendance is defined as the student
being present on every day the Madrasa is
open.
It is understood that in some situations a
student cannot come to the Madrasa when it is
open. Parents should send a letter or make
contact with the teacher to explain the reason
for each and every absence.
Occasionally an absence will be deemed as an
exceptional absence. These exceptional
absences are those that Molvisaab and Appa
consider to be out of the control of parents and
student. If a student achieves a whole year of
attendance with only exceptional absences, then
the student will have attained the Gold
Standard of attendance but not 100%
attendance.
Punctuality
We have one of the most progressive Madrasa
in Preston. Our class sizes are smaller then
most Madrasa and our class lengths are
shorter. Even so, we have students arriving up
to 20 minutes late for a 90 minute lesson.
A students’ Islamic education is a partnership
of Madrasa, student and parents. By arriving
late it is unfair on both the Madrasa and the
student. Loosing almost 20% of the learning
time can only lead to reduced progress by the
student.
Please ensure that all students arrive on time
on every occasion.
Admission Policy
The Madrasa has a commitment to provide an effective and
efficient Islamic education for Muslim children. The
executive committee of the mosque has been conscious of the
popularity that our Madrasa has enjoyed and reluctantly
have considered the need for admission criteria for the
eventuality when there will be more applications for places
than there are places available. The following criteria will be
considered in the priority list given below. Parents of
children making application should recognize that if there
are more applications than places available then the mosque
committee will consider the application in the following
order.
1. Children who already have brothers or sisters who
attend the Madrasa.
2. Children whose parents are members of the mosque.
3. The number of consecutive years (from the year of
application) that the children’s parents have paid their
Ramadan fund and monthly subscriptions to the
mosque.
4. Children with special needs e.g. learning difficulties
who may benefit from approach or facilities used in
our Madrasa. The committee will consider each
application to ensure that issues about access, health
and safety and the efficient education of other children
are not compromised.
5. 5. Proximity of the mosque to the home.
Fees System
At present the fees for Madrasa are £1 per day for each student.
There are a possible 260 days that the Madrasa could open in a
year (weekdays). On average we arrange 60 days off a year.
Although this number does change it is rarely more than a day or
two different.
3 days at Eid-Ul-Adha
3 days at Christmas
1 day 12th Rabi-Al-Awal (Prophets SAW birthday)
10 days at Easter/Summer holiday
2 days at May/June half term
1 day Sab-E-Barat
40 days for Ramadan
This leaves 200 days at Madrasa and so the fees are £200 a year.
We understand that some parents wish to pay the fees in cash
either weekly, monthly or on an adhoc basis. In the past fees
were collected by Molvisaab and Appa on Fridays. We have the
shortest class lengths of any Madrasa and too much teaching
time is lost in trying to collect the fees each week. For this reason
Molvisaab or Appa will not accept fees in the future. We have
however put a different system in place for the payment of fees.
In each student diary you will find a series of personalised tear-
off slips. They already have the students details printed on them.
Fill in one of the strips with the date and amount of money being
sent. Place the cash and the paying in slip into an old envelope
and drop the envelope into the Madrasa Fees Collection Box near
the front of the Masjid. A member of the committee will empty
the box periodically and enter the amounts paid into the
computer system.
Every three months we will send home a statement with each
student outlining your payments to date for the current year.
Please check the statement carefully to ensure all your payments
have been logged into the system. Contact the committee
immediately if you think the statement is incorrect.
A special note.
Put the envelope with your fees into the “Madrasa Fees
Collection Box” only and not into any other collection box at the
Masjid.
Please check your statements carefully. Corrections will be
difficult and time consuming if left till the end of the year.
We discourage the use of cheques. They take extra effort to
process and the bank can charge a processing fee.
Standing Orders.
We welcome payment by standing order. Unfortunately we are
not able to take direct debits from your account but we can help
you set up a standing order with your bank. Please see one of the
committee members who will be happy to print you the paper
work.
Marking System
On each diary page there is a grading bar from
1 to 5. A mark will be placed on the bar to show
what level the student achieved on that days
lessons.
1. Needs Attention.
The student did not reach the required
level to progress. A repeat may be needed
of this lesson.
2. Acceptable.
Although the student did not reach a
satisfactory level, lessons will continue
forward. More work is required at this
lesson.
3. Satisfactory.
This is the normal, average level expected.
4. Good.
An above average level has been attained.
5. Excellent.
Student has exceeded expectations.

Fees System
At present the fees for Madrasa are £1 per day for each student.
There are a possible 260 days that the Madrasa could open in a
year (weekdays). On average we arrange 60 days off a year.
Although this number does change it is rarely more than a day or
two different.
3 days at Eid-Ul-Adha
3 days at Christmas
1 day 12th Rabi-Al-Awal (Prophets SAW birthday)
10 days at Easter/Summer holiday
2 days at May/June half term
1 day Sab-E-Barat
40 days for Ramadan
This leaves 200 days at Madrasa and so the fees are £200 a year.
We understand that some parents wish to pay the fees in cash
either weekly, monthly or on an adhoc basis. In the past fees
were collected by Molvisaab and Appa on Fridays. We have the
shortest class lengths of any Madrasa and too much teaching
time is lost in trying to collect the fees each week. For this reason
Molvisaab or Appa will not accept fees in the future. We have
however put a different system in place for the payment of fees.
In each student diary you will find a series of personalised tear-
off slips. They already have the students details printed on them.
Fill in one of the strips with the date and amount of money being
sent. Place the cash and the paying in slip into an old envelope
and drop the envelope into the Madrasa Fees Collection Box near
the front of the Masjid. A member of the committee will empty
the box periodically and enter the amounts paid into the
computer system.

Every three months we will send home a statement with each
student outlining your payments to date for the current year.
Please check the statement carefully to ensure all your payments
have been logged into the system. Contact the committee
immediately if you think the statement is incorrect.
A special note.
Put the envelope with your fees into the “Madrasa Fees
Collection Box” only and not into any other collection box at the
Masjid.
Please check your statements carefully. Corrections will be
difficult and time consuming if left till the end of the year.
We discourage the use of cheques. They take extra effort to
process and the bank can charge a processing fee.
Standing Orders.
We welcome payment by standing order. Unfortunately we are
not able to take direct debits from your account but we can help
you set up a standing order with your account. Please see one of
the committee members who will be happy to print you the paper
work.

Behaviour policy for the Madrasa
Our mission aims
The Madrasa aims to provide children and families a supportive
educational environment in which they can develop the values
that come with a submission to Allah and the example that our
prophet (pbuh) set in his lifetime. Primary aims of the education
that we will provide include
Respect and consideration for others
A striving for knowledge and understanding
Self esteem and self discipline
A sense of belonging to family, local community and the
Ummah.
Ways of meeting our aims
The Madrasa’s work is based on a partnership between children,
parents, teachers, members of the Islamic community and the
executive committee. Every person has a role to play in meeting
the aims of the Madrasa.
The child’s role is to make their best effort and abide by
the standards that we set in the Madrasa.
The parental involvement is to ensure that children are
supported in their efforts by looking after their Islamic
welfare and working closely with the Madrasa.
Our teachers will facilitate the children’s learning and
provide opportunities for children to grow spiritually,
morally and religiously.
Members of the community can play an active role in
modelling Islamic behaviour and working with our
teachers for the benefit of our children.
The executive committee will ensure that the Madrasa has
the financial and educational resources to provide an
effective Islamic education in a safe and supportive
environment.
Strategies we will use
We will use the partnership to ensure that children’s behaviour in
our Madrasa will consistently meet the high levels that we set.
The executive committee has a commitment to maintain class sizes
so that children get adequate adult support and guidance and
thereby maintain high standards of behaviour. Children will be
taught about the standards of behaviour that apply in our
Madrasa and will have high expectations of reaching them. The
combination of expectations, guidance and a motivating
curriculum will maintain high standards and will be supported by
a framework that rewards children for the efforts in their work
and behaviour.
From time to time and considering the nature of children, there
will be breaches of self-discipline that will be treated in an
understanding manner. Children will be made aware whenever
their behaviour, effort, organisation, manner of treating others
etc. falls below Madrasa standards and will be assisted by the
teachers to make improvements in the areas of concern. When
appropriate, teachers will use discouragers, such as warnings,
withdrawal of privileges or reparations, to assist children to avoid
any lowering of standards.
On occasions, when a child persistently fails to maintain
standards and, despite the assistance provided by the teachers,
fails to make improvements, parents will be notified in writing
and invited to work with the teachers to develop strategies to help
the child. The strategies will be reviewed when necessary.
On rare occasions, children’s behaviour may continue to be
problematic for long periods and not be amenable to change using
the parent and teacher partnership. The teacher may wish to
involve the executive committee to consider any action that needs
to be taken. The committee has the powers to take firm action to
protect the standards set in the Madrasa or if any member of the
Madrasa is at risk of harm from the actions of a child e.g.
persistent bullying or exceptionally high levels of violence.
Although it is not envisaged that any child would require extreme
measures to be applied, the committee reserves the right to
enforce a temporary or permanent exclusion from the Madrasa.
Syllabus The Madrasa now uses a syllabus which is monitored,
evaluated and refined each year.
Below you will see the syllabus for each year group. New
students that start from the beginning will have the benefit of
following the syllabus from start to finish however currents
students do not fit into the new syllabus quite so completely.
If you have a student already at the Madrasa, they may well
be between two year s of syllabus or following a syllabus that
is not the same as their year group. This is nothing to worry
about and the teachers are aware of the learning stage for
each student and how to make best progress with your child.
Therefore if your child does not seem to be following the
syllabus for their year, please talk to the teacher to clarify
how they will be progressing.
As a reminder, students starting at the Madrasa that are
beyond reception stage will be assessed by the teachers and
placed in the year group that best suits their learning needs.
This may not be the same year group as they expected as
each Madrasa follow different teaching methods and syllabi.
It may seem that the student has been placed back a year or
forward a year but the placement will be to suit the students
learning needs.
Reception
Start with colouring and learning to recognise the Arabic letters. After that,
move on to the Ahsanul Qawaaid. Each student will work at their own pace
and ability. Also at the start we will help them settle in and get to know
their surroundings. Cover the kalimahs and duaa’s sheet.
Makharij with Tajweed, full mouth letters and throat letters.
Year 1 KITABS SYLLABUS Ahsanul

Revise from start until sabaq and then continue from sabaq to
the end. Thereafter, revise Ahsanul Qawaaid 3-4 times
thoroughly. After that, start amma.

Year 2 KITABS SYLLABUS Quran Continue from last year in Amma and Ahsanul Qawaaid. But
first revise Ahsanul Qawaaid before starting new sabaq.
Tajweed Tajweed booklet, start with the first rule and get the children
to implement it within their sabaq. Thereafter, move on to the
next rule.
Fiqh Tas-heelul Fiqh Book 1. Keywords should be learnt in each
lesson. Children should be able to explain each lesson in
brief.
Aqaa'id Tas-heelul Aqaa'd Book 1. Keywords should be learnt in each
lesson. All Allah's attributes learnt by heart. Stories to help
children understand the attributes.
Deeniyat Start with lesson 1 & 2 making sure Duaa’s are read slowly
and clearly with tajweed.
Surats Surah Iklas - Surah Kawthar with tajweed.
Year 3 KITABS SYLLABUS Quran Finish Amma and start Afti. Try to do 1st Para. Start with
sabaq of 2/3 lines, making sure it is read with tajweed
clearly and then slowly increase to 4/5 lines.
Tajweed Continue in tajweed booklet making sure every rule learnt is
implemented and then move on to the next rule.
Urdu Urdu Book 1. Make sure children learn the Urdu alphabet
and learn to recognise the letters. Furthermore, learn the
meanings of new words also.
Fiqh Tas-heelul Fiqh Book 2. Keywords should be learnt in each
lesson. Children should be able to explain each lesson in
brief. Important points to be learnt by heart i.e. Ghusl,
wudhu, salaah faraaidh. My colouring Book of salaah. Learn
keyword like Qiyaam, Qiraat, and Ruku etc. Show
practically after finishing the book.
General Our religion is Islam. Read, Learn and colour. Deeniyat At first, revise last year's lessons duaa’s and then move
forward.
Surats Revise last year's surats and then learn surats up to surah
"Lahab" with tajweed.
Year 4 KITABS SYLLABUS Quran 2nd and 3rd Para. Start with little sabaq of 2/3 lines making
sure it is read clearly, loud and with tajweed rules which
have already been covered. Makharij clear and correct, no
stretching of letters. Madd letters stretched clearly. Full
mouth letters, Throat letters done correctly, then increase the
sabaq slowly to 4/6 lines.
Tajweed Cover tajweed rule one at a time making sure that each rule
is understood and then implemented in the sabaq before
moving to the next rule.
Urdu Urdu Book 2. New words to be learnt and tested separately
in sabaq. Learn points made by heart. Read story to class
and ask questions. Every child has to have a vocabulary
book for meaning.
Fiqh We Are Muslims Book 1. Keywords should be learnt in
each lesson. Children should be able to answer questions
asked in each lesson. Important points learn by heart i.e.
Ghusl, Wudhu, and Salaah.
Seerah Mohammed the Last Prophet. Learn the dates, names, places
