Cow-baited tents

• Cow-baited tents collected the same species as HLC and the human-baited tent traps

• Twice as many species in CBT as in other traps (27 species total)

• 10X-20X more Anopheles mosquitoes in CBTs than other collection methods

• The only P.f. positive mosquitoes collected were in the CBTs

Conclusions

• Anopheles mosquitoes in Cambodia are incredibly diverse!

• The transmission in the field may be more complicated than previously thought, not just An. dirus and a few other primary vectors

• Abundant outdoor and generalist-feeding vector species will complicate current approaches to vector control (new tools are needed for elimination)

• Cow-baited traps and other alternatives to human-landing collections will help us to better monitor and understand these diverse species
