Origami, Anime and Sushi

Do you want to go to Japan? Do you like to fold origami? Do you like Anime? If you have answered “Yes!” to any of these things, then this is the activity for you. Spend the day folding paper cranes and fun Christmas decorations, while you watch Anime! Your $5 will get you all the supplies you need and Sushi for lunch…YUM!!

Activity 102

Shop your socks off! $10

Do you like to shop? Do you leave your Christmas shopping to the last minute? This is the activity for you! We will catch the train from Albion Park Rail to Miranda Westfield. Then it’s shopping time with your friends in small groups. We will eat lunch and catch the train home together.

Activity 103

Kiama Coast Walk $10

It is summer so it’s time to get outdoors and soak up the sunshine whilst taking a scenic walk. We will meet at Albion Park Train Station and catch the train to Minnamurra. From there we will walk the Coast Walk into Kiama, stopping for a picnic morning tea. Following lunch in the park, we will catch the train back to Albion Park. This is a relaxing, healthy and fun day for everyone. What a nice way to brush off the stress of exams and school, and head into the holidays. The only cost is your return train ticket – you can choose to buy or bring your lunch.

Activity 104

Surf Safari $20

Mr Mackey Maximum 12 students

Surfing at beach breaks in the Illawarra from Kiama to North Wollongong. The group will travel by mini-bus and surf where the conditions are most favorable, possibly surfing at a variety of locations throughout the day. You need to bring your own board, wetsuit, fins, towel and don’t forget the sunscreen! You can bring your own lunch, or buy it along the way. Who Can Participate: This activity is only available to students who have participated in “Surf Survival” or “Surfing” for school sport during 2015 or 2016. Students must have completed the “Ocean Surfer Safety Award” as part of the APHS school sport surfing program, or have an equivalent or higher qualification obtained through Surf Life Saving Australia.

Gingerbread House construction

Get creative this Christmas with a Gingerbread house kit baked fresh at Delaney's Cakes! Your gingerbread house kit comes flat packed and you need to assemble it, Ikea style, using icing. Your house will end up being about 18cm tall and 12-16cm square. Each kit includes: - Gingerbread x 7 pieces - 25cm2 square board - Pre made royal icing 500g - Cellophane sheet for display wrapping - Lollies to decorate

Hogwarts adventure $5

Climb aboard at Platform 9 ¾ for a magical day! Upon entering the hallowed halls of Hogwarts you will be sorted into your house with like-minded witches and wizards. You will spend some time preparing for a cracking game of Quidditch, competing for the Quidditch Cup (we can’t let Slytherin win again!) We’ll recover from Quidditch with one of the Harry Potter movies, and some delicious delights from the trolley. Dress in your favourite house colours to give the Sorting Hat some help, bring lunch, drinks and snacks for the movie. Broomstick essential for Quidditch.

Do you want to turn your photos into something which will last? Want to capture those special times with family and friends from 2016? Spend the day editing photos in Photoshop and then turning them into a photobook which can be printed at a later date or shared online.

Tennis the Menace $5

Do you LOVE playing tennis? Are you GAME to take on Mrs Pinney? Are you ready to meet your MATCH? Or do you just want to give someone a good SERVE? Tennis is so en POINT right now, so get SET for a great day! Join Mrs Pinney for a friendly hit or some serious competition – the choice is yours! You need your own racquet and either bring your lunch or some money to buy lunch. We will be walking from school to the tennis courts and back to school at the end of the day.

Fishing at the Lake $5

Can you catch the biggest fish?? Students need to have own rod, tackle and bait, sun protection and appropriate footwear and be able to arrange own transport. We will meet on northern side of Windang Bridge at the boat ramp and choose the best fishing location from there. A BBQ lunch will be provided so don’t worry if you don’t catch anything. Prizes will be awarded for most fish caught, biggest fish, target species, most species caught and lucky dip each day.

Activity 110

Bounce, Bounce, Bounce and Play!

Meet at school and take a quick bus ride to FLIPOUT Warrawong. After an hour of strenuous bouncing we will make the short journey to Warrawong Plaza for some quick Christmas Shopping and Lunch in the Food Court. We will then return to school and will spend the afternoon playing B I G Games like Chess, Connect 4, Jenga, Snakes & Ladders.

Activity 111

Flicks and Play $Free!

Start the day off by taking Mr Polidoro on in handball and big games like Chess, Connect 4, Jenga, Snakes & Ladders . Relax with an Ice blocks provided for all participants. Then you have the option of heading down the street to AP shops for lunch (must have permission from a parent/guardian) or remain at school and enjoy lunch with friends. Spend the afternoon chilling out in D5 in air conditioned comfort watching a movie, colouring-in or completing puzzles.

Doodle Art, Drawing and Chillout

This activity is the number ONE chillout activity! We will draw and colour OR we will just colour ready-made drawings. You can bring any textas, colouring pencils, special pens you have but don’t worry if you haven’t got any to bring….. just bring your cheerful attitude and chilled-out heart and you’ll love this!

On Ya Hike! $7

We will meet at Albion Park train station and take a relaxing and after a scenic train trip through the northern Illawarra, we will arrive at Otford train station. And here the real journey begins! Our 3 hour round trip will see us meander to Otford Lookout, along the Squeeze Way (a beautiful section of luscious ferns!) and the Burning Palms Track. Our final destination is Burning Palms Beach where you will have the option to cool your feet in the water. After a laze in the shade and enjoying the picnic lunch you have packed, we will make our way back along the same track to board the train at Otford train station. We will arrive back at Albion Park train station at about 4:15pm.

White Card Course $95

Do you want to work in construction? Well you MUST have a white-card and we are giving you the opportunity to gain this WHS certification at a very reasonable price. We get a highly qualified presenter who comes to the school and goes through all the information you need. You will then receive a certificate indicating your qualifications. This is a great way to get your foot in the door before you can complete any work experience or an apprenticeship.

Jamberoo Action Park $5

Jamberoo – Where you control the Action! Do you have a Jamberoo Season Pass? Would you like to spend the day enjoying all the rides? Students must be able to make their own way to and from Jamberoo Action Park and already have a season pass. You will be met by your teachers and then set loose on the rides Meet at 9.30am for a full day of action, before being dismissed at 4.30pm. The $5 cost guarantees you a spot and you will get some snacks on the day.

Coding Like Crazy $Free!

Do you love exploring IT and creating new games? In pairs your challenge is to create a computer game using Scratch (https://scratch.mit.edu/) or any other suitable coding application. You will receive a design brief to get you started. We will hold mini-coding tutorials and share cool coding ideas. There will be check-in times to keep track of your progress and crazy challenges on the way. The winners of the competition will receive prizes and be awarded the 'APHS Coder of the Year' award. This exciting activity will be run in the school computer labs – use these computers or bring your own! Even better, this activity is FREE!

Super Chess Tournament

Are you a chess lover? Keen to show your skills in a tournament setting? Well this activity is for you! Join your peers for a series of competitive games using the giant chess board in the library. Smaller chess boards are available to run practice games on the side. Last person standing earns the prestigious title of “Greatest Chess Player @ APHS” – can you beat Mr Morgan??

This is the ultimate chill and relax activity. Do you love books? Board games? Colouring? Listening to music on a comfy chair? Even better, bring your own PlayStation/console and we can set you up on a mega screen to battle your friends. Students are welcome to use the resources in the library or bring in your own for a fun day with friends.

Sydney day trip $25!

Ms McGrath

We will be attending the Wildlife Sydney Zoo on Darling Harbour in the morning and Madame Tussauds in the afternoon. Students will need Opal cards as we will be catching the train. We'll be leaving Albion Park Station at 8:36am and returning to the station at 5:15pm. We will have 1 hour for lunch so students are welcome to bring money buy something or pack their own lunch.

A full day of sport action – students will rotate in teams through a variety of sporting challenges and activities. Points will be awarded based on enthusiasm and performance in each challenge or activity. Will your team manage to win the major prize at the end of the day??

A full day of Lego fun! Build a sculpture, models or anything else you can dream of! Use instructions or free style it! Lego kits and a range of bricks and accessories will be available or you can bring your own if you like. The $2 is to be paid on the day and will get you some hot chips/snacks.

Activity 201

Santa Scavenger Hunt $25

Maximum 80 students

Begin your day at the front of Stockland Shellharbour where you will meet your teachers and begin your quest….. The game will be completed once all teams have finalised their tasks and answered their questions. Students will have the opportunity to have their photo taken with Santa as an individual or as a friendship group. We will eat lunch together, and walk across the road to enjoy a movie at Greater Union. The movie will be decided closer to the time when we know what is out. Students will be dismissed from the cinema. Students will make their own way to Stockland Shellharbour in the morning, and home again in the afternoon.

Gorgeous Girls $20

In the words of Beyonce, “Who run the world? GIRLS” Let’s celebrate being girls because each and every one of you are gorgeous. The day will be a combination of healthy (morning workout followed by healthy morning tea) and fun things designed specifically for girls: health, nutrition, makeup, manicures and nail art. Gather your girlfriends and join us for a day of healthy fun. The price includes professionally run workout, healthy snacks for morning tea and basic items for makeup, manicures and nail art.

Paddle Boarding and Beach

We will be meeting in the morning at Albion Park Rail train station and catching the train to North Wollongong. We will enjoy a relaxing walk to the beach and then walk a short distance along the beach before enjoying an early lunch. After lunch we will try our hand at stand up paddle boarding with instructors from Pines Surf Academy. All equipment for paddle boarding is supplied. After a 2 hour paddle boarding session we will catch the train home. Bring: hat, sunscreen, sun protective shirt, swimmers

Fun in the Sun and Gardens

Catch the train to North Wollongong with your friends and then make your way to Wollongong Botanic Gardens. Enjoy some sun soaking and a walk around the gardens. Impress your friends with the amazing picnic lunch you have packed and then enjoy a friendly game of Frisbee, or other fun activity, before heading back home on the train.

Camembert Cheese $Free!

Only for Camembert in the Classroom students This activity has been organised to say thank you to the dedicated students who have been involved in the Camembert in the Classroom Project Based Learning activity over the past two years. The activity will involve travelling from school to the Robertson Cheese Factory, having a casual stroll around the shops and enjoying a delicious lunch before returning. The student’s lunch will be subsidised from the money that has been won by the students in 2015 and 2016. We look forward to spending this rewarding day with you. Thank you, Mrs Woolley and Mrs Joynson.

Shellharbour Day Trip $6!

Meet at school and catch the public bus to Shellharbour Village (students are to bring a loaded OpalCard to board the bus). From here we will walk to North Shellharbour Beach and enjoy a swim or laze on the beach; this is a suitable activity for students who enjoy being in the water and are confident swimmers. Fun beach games will be organized for students. After this we will grab lunch on the main street before boarding the bus back to Albion Park.

Kiama Day Trip $Train Ticket!

Fancy a relaxing day out in Kiama? After a pleasant train trip, we will stroll down to the blowhole and rock pools before enjoying a picnic lunch in the park and then heading home. Students can bring their picnic with them or choose to buy some lunch. We may even have time for a spot of shopping in the terrace house shops. 9:18am – 2:15pm

A full day of Lego fun! Build a sculpture, models or anything else you can dream of! Use instructions or free style it! Lego kits and a range of bricks and accessories will be available or you can bring your own if you like. The $2 is to be paid on the day and will get you some hot chips/snacks.
