Architectural description

Apartment House Wolf is located across from the Got-thard Residences and the new Radisson Blu Hotel. It is built upon a subterranean infrastructure base which houses the underground car park and the u lity sys-tems. The neighbouring buildings are grouped close-ly together, as in a typical mountain village, defi ning streets with mul faceted spa al quali es. The loca- on directly on the village square gives the apart-

ments a lot of space and light and allows views of the surrounding natural countryside.

The footprint of Apartment House Wolf, with ground fl oor, fi ve upper fl oors and a lo level, is derived from the specifi c site on the large square and the orienta- on of the apartments. The moderate roof overhang

traces the perimeter and reinforces the sculptural ef-fect of the building.

Part of the ground fl oor of the building is designed for commercial use and features large storefront windows.

The typical upper fl oors each include a one-bedroom, a two-bedroom and two three-bedroom apartments, all off ering a high level of comfort and convenience. The spacious foyers lead into the open living and din-ing room, with windows on at least two sides, bring-ing plenty of light and sun into the rooms and off ering views of the alpine landscape. Each apartment has its own outdoor space, either a loggia to the northwest or a balcony to the south.

Homey maisone es on the top fl oor and lo level aug-ment the range of apartments. Each maisone e has an internal stair up to the gallery, off ering a two-sto-rey spa al experience. The gallery bedrooms are lo-cated directly beneath the roof, with dormer windows for natural light.

Construction summary

EcologyHouse Wolf is being built and cer fi ed to the Min-ergie standard. All apartments feature mechanically controlled ven la on. The system provides con nu-ous air exchange in all rooms and also serves the fol-lowing purposes: · Providing adequate filtered fresh air for

the occupants · Elimination of humidity and odours · Energy savings by recovering thermal energy

from the exhaust air · Noise control for the occupants; everyone can

sleep comfortably with all windows closed

Each apartment will have its own individually con-trolled ven la on system.

Construc onThe base slab, perimeter walls of the basement and underground garage and columns are in place, execut-ed in reinforced concrete. Most of the basement par- on walls are in sand-lime brick masonry.

All fl oor slabs and exterior walls above grade are in reinforced concrete to meet structural requirements and for seismic stability. The exterior walls are cov-ered with 22 cm high-quality exterior insula on. The façade of the ground fl oor is in architectural concrete. The façades above are dressed with ven lated wood shingle cladding.

Interior par ons are 12.5 – 15 cm brick masonry. Separa on walls between the apartments and around the stairwell are 25 cm monolithic reinforced con-crete. Some of the walls in the living rooms and bed-rooms and behind kitchen cabinetry are executed as gypsum-covered prewalls.

Some of the conduits, pipes and ducts in the base-ment and underground garage are surface-mounted on ceiling and walls.

Roof Timber roof framing with 24 cm insula on between ra ers. Interior build-up: vapour barrier, furring and wood panelling. Exterior build-up: rigid fi breboard, sub-roof membrane, ven la on furring, le bat-tens and Eternit roofi ng. Dormers are clad in stand-ing-seam metal shee ng.

Electrical systemsReceptacles, switches and wiring for lights in the usu-al quan es and as shown on plans. Outdoor recep-tacle, switch and light at balconies. Built-in lights in foyers, corridors, bathrooms, toilet rooms and kitch-en. One mul media outlet (TV, phone and computer) in each bedroom and in the living room. Each living room has at least one empty conduit for easy installa- on of addi onal telecom cabling. Doorbell with vid-
