On March 23, 24, students, faculty and guests of the University will gather for the 59 th California History Institute. This year’s theme highlights women who continue to be “history-makers.” This year’s Institute includes a field trip to the California State Museum by coach from Stockton on March 23 to two exhibits: “Women and the Vote,” and “Notable Women in California History,” the latter featuring 120 individuals. Papers and panels on March 24 will focus on the historiography of women’s history in the Golden State; the role of Latina, Filipina, Asian, and Native American women; women of note in Stockton’s own history; women’s organizations at Pacific; and a panel on women and environmental justice and activism. The luncheon keynote will be delivered by Judy Yung, Professor Emeritus, U. C. Santa Cruz, whose publications include Unbound Feet: A Social History of Chinese Women in San Francisco (1995); Chinese American Voices; From the Gold Rush to the Present (2006); and (with Erika Lee) Angel Island (2010). Other speakers include Edith Sparks, Jessica Weiss, Alice Van Ommeren, Dawn Bohulano Mabalon, Emil Guillermo, Michael Wurtz, Nancy Unger, Tracy Perkins, Teresa DeAnda, Alison Alkon, and Jennifer Helgren. FOR THE PUBLIC a symposium registration fee of $40.00 is required to attend paper sessions, the luncheon, and the receptions on March 23 and 24. FOR THE UOP FACULTY AND STAFF the symposium registration fee is $30.00 which includes the reception and luncheon but not the field trip. PAYABLE BY CHECK OR BUDGET CODE . FOR ALL ATTENDEES the field trip to Sacramento on March 23 is $40, which does not include lunch .
