From Nathaniel S for the Intercultural Group

Hello, Landmark Community!

Saturday, October 24th will be United Nations Day . The United Nations has been around for 75years and was created in 1945 after WWII; its mission is "maintenance of international peace and security". The U.N. works with countries and organizations to work towards and maintain global peace. This year, UN Day focuses on our interconnectedness in the COVID-19 environment and will broadcast a music/dance performance which will encourage “genuine solidarity” at a global level, and

“bring us together to... reimagine a world rebalanced... designed and built together for present and future generations.”

UN Day is a day for people's diverse cultures and backgrounds to be acknowledged and celebrated . The InterCultural Group invites everyone to dress up in their ethnic/cultural attire on FRIDAY, October 23 . This can be anything from a hat or color which represents your culture to a full outfit that represents your ethnicity. To help us create a festive atmosphere, our enthusiastic SAGE staff will serve a special treat at milkbreak and play ethnic music all day long.

We hope you choose to participate and enjoy the day. If you have any questions, please contact [email protected] (President of InterCultural Group) or [email protected] (Vice president of the InterCultural Group).

Mr. Talbot for the Student Council  Halloween Happenings Hello, Landmark Community,

The Student Council would like to invite you to participate in this year's Halloween festivities, which will take place during the week of the 26th! That's right, even though we have to change a few things up this year, including not having a Tot Spot parade, we are still going to celebrate this annual tradition in a new way!

Sage Dining Services has a great themed lunch idea that you can look forward to, and on Friday, October 30th, we will have our annual costume contest and well as a Trick-or-Treat fundraiser. Here are some of the important details about masks, the costume contest, and buying treats for your friends:

-On Friday, October 30th, you are invited to wear a costume to school to celebrate Halloween. Please note that all COVID safety protocols must be followed, meaning that all costumes must include a school-sanctioned mask.

But, Mr. Talbot... isn't a rubber clown mask the same thing as wearing a two-layer mask?   No, Mr. Modugno, it is not the same. Please wear your everyday mask with your costume, even if it means that you need to alter your really cool outfit.

-During Homeroom on Friday, October 30th, students will be prompted to take a photo of their costume and send it to Mr. Talbot to take part in the costume contest. The categories this year are: scariest costume, funniest costume, and best stylish COVID mask (that's right, think of a way to dress up your COVID mask in a fun inventive way!).

A Google Form will be sent out to the school around Milkbreak, and everyone has until noon to vote for the best costumes for each category. There will be cash prizes for  the winners!

-Finally, due to safety concerns, students and staff are asked to not bring candy/food items to school to pass out or share. We need to make sure that we continue  to follow the same rules that we adhere to every other school day. With that said, the Student Council will hold a fundraiser where you can purchase a safe and sterile

candy/treat goodie bag to be delivered to a friend on Friday, October 30th during the school day. You can even personalize it with a message!

Candy/treat goodie bags will be $2 for 1 or $5 for 3 and can be purchased through your student account or Venmo. If you don't have a student account or Venmo, we will offer a safe way to pay with cash (although paperless payment is preferred). Please be on the lookout for the order form that will be sent out this week!
