“Striving to End Hunger in Our Community” Proudly Serving the Hamilton Community since 1997 Volume 21 Number 2 Ride for Refuge 2018 From HOOTC Executive Director Congratulations and Thank You to all of our Sponsors and Participants! Our 2 nd "Ride for Refuge" fundraiser was very successful once again this year for Hamilton Out of the Cold. We had 35 participants, 200 donors, wonderful weather and lots of fun. Your efforts will go a long way in helping us to continue to serve those in need in our Community. Thank You! KINDNESS. Such a simple word, and yet, when implemented; even through the smallest of gestures, it’s a simple word which can have a powerful and profound effect. Kindness is an important and extraordinary human practice. It is one experienced frequently as we serve our many guests. It occurs in our relations with our compassionate volunteers, we recognize it in the generosity of our donors, and it is evident from the gratefulness of the people we serve. Hamilton Out of the Cold (HOOTC), through its dedicated and precious volunteers (HOOTC heroes), provides hot, nutritious meals for those in need, but also and very significantly, serves so much more. HOOTC serves to fill a physical hunger but I believe; through kindness and consideration, also fills a deeper human connection. How incredibly fortunate we are as a community to be given such an opportunity to share in the wealth of kindness. May we always be mindful of that gift. As we begin our 21 st Season together, we look forward with anticipation, to continuing to provide hot, nutritious meals for those in need ~ serving our guests with dignity and compassion. Warmly and with a Thankful Heart, Janice Ormond Dave & Lynda Bowen & the Hamilton Police Association Retirees for holding the Grey Cup Fundraiser Event for Hamilton Out of the Cold. It was a great night spent with great people. Steve Hmiel & Angelo Mosca

Congratulations and Thank You

to all of our Sponsors and

Our 2nd "Ride for Refuge" fundraiser

was very successful once again this

year for Hamilton Out of the Cold.

We had 35 participants, 200 donors,

Thank You!

KINDNESS. Such a simple word, and yet, when implemented; even through the smallest of gestures, it’s a

simple word which can have a powerful and profound effect.

Kindness is an important and extraordinary human practice. It is one experienced frequently as we serve

our many guests. It occurs in our relations with our compassionate volunteers, we recognize it in the

generosity of our donors, and it is evident from the gratefulness of the people we serve.

Hamilton Out of the Cold (HOOTC), through its dedicated and precious volunteers (HOOTC heroes), provides hot,

nutritious meals for those in need, but also and very significantly, serves so much more. HOOTC serves to fill a physical

hunger but I believe; through kindness and consideration, also fills a deeper human connection. How incredibly

fortunate we are as a community to be given such an opportunity to share in the wealth of kindness.

May we always be mindful of that gift.

As we begin our 21st Season together, we look forward with anticipation, to continuing to provide hot, nutritious meals

for those in need ~ serving our guests with dignity and compassion. Warmly and with a Thankful Heart, Janice Ormond

Dave & Lynda Bowen & the Hamilton Police Association Retirees for holding the Grey

Cup Fundraiser Event for Hamilton Out of the Cold. It was a great night spent with great people.

“Good evening HOOTC The first point I would like to make is I truly am thankful to HOOTC and all the volunteers for feeding me over the last many months. When I would attend the different Churches for the meals, all the individuals that were serving me were always so kind and respectful. Plus, the meals were fantastic. I certainly will miss Chef Tony on Mondays.”
