“Over a Century of Catholic Tradition Serving Our Community”
We, the parishioners of Saint Anastasia, are a strong faith based community, grounded in more than a century of Catholic tradition, rooted in worship and service. Compelled by the Good News of Jesus Christ, we are committed to growing in a deeper relationship with God and with one another. We strive to become a more vibrant parish by inspiring an atmosphere of belonging, of welcoming, and by promoting opportunities to share and spread our Catholic Faith, so that we may be more united as one parish community.

THIRTY THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
This week’s Gospel speaks of how Jesus’ disciples are to conduct themselves as they await the Kingdom of Heaven. In the preceding passages and in last week’s Gospel, Jesus taught that there is no way to predict the coming of the Kingdom of Heaven. His disciples must, therefore, remain vigilant and ready to receive the Son of Man at any time. Jesus’ parable talks about Christian discipleship using economic metaphors. Before he leaves on a journey, the master entrusts to his servants a different number of talents, giving to each according to their abilities. A talent is a coin of great value. Upon the master’s return, he finds that the first and second servants have doubled their money, and both are rewarded. The third servant, however, has only preserved what was given to him because he was afraid to lose the money. He has risked nothing; he did not even deposit the money in a bank to earn interest. This servant is punished by the master, and his talent is given to the one who brought the greatest return. Read in light of last week’s parable of the wise and foolish bridesmaids, this parable teaches that God’s judgment will be based on the service we render to God and to one another in accordance with the gifts that God has given to us. Our gifts, or talents, are given to us for the service of others. If we fail to use these gifts, God’s judgment on us will be severe. On the other hand, if we make use of these gifts in service to the Kingdom of Heaven, we will be rewarded and entrusted with even more responsibilities. This Gospel reminds us that Christian spirituality is not passive or inactive. Our life of prayer helps us to discern the gifts that have been given to us by God. This prayer and discernment ought to lead us to use our gifts in the service of God and our neighbor. God’s grace allows us to share in the work of serving the Kingdom of Heaven.

IMPORTANT MASS INFORMATION We thank you for your cooperation by wearing masks and observing social distancing in the church. Thanks to your timely departure, we have been able to sanitize the church after each Mass. In addition, we appreciate your understanding that neither the church nor chapel are open for private prayer as we continue to sanitize on a daily basis. The 10:30 AM Sunday Mass and various other Masses and Devotions are livestreamed on our Facebook page and on our parish website. Please note that your image, in video or still, and/or the likeness and sound of your voice may be transmitted and/or recorded. Occasionally, these may be used for promotional purposes. If you do not agree to this, please see one of the priests or a door monitor. Thank you for your cooperation.
.
November is Seminary Appeal month. The Seminary community is grateful to you for your faithful support of the Appeal. Your tax-deductible gift helps to enhance the many resources needed for priestly training and enables the Church to form holy, educated and dedicated priests.
Please send your donation to: Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary
Office for Development 100 East Wynnewood Road
Wynnewood, PA 19093 Return envelopes have been mailed directly to your homes for the Appeal. However, for those who may not have received the direct mailing, or may have misplaced their response card and envelope, you may place your donation in the collection basket, in an envelope marked “Seminary Appeal” on any weekend. Please become a part of the Seminary family by making your gift today. Be sure to check with your employer to see if they have a matching gifts program which could substantially increase the amount of your gift.
St. Paul in his book to the Hebrews states, “We must consider how to rouse one another to love and good works.” As one parish community, “HOPE” is a ministry which provides opportunities to reach out and be of service to our home bound, elderly or in those in need in our community. This service is for those who might need transportation to the doctor or to go food shopping. Or perhaps you are able to offer your time to be of service to one of our parishioners. If you you need a ride, are willing to help or have any questions, call Jeanne Hornbach 610-356-0790.
2020 Once again, the holiday season is upon us. As one Parish community, here is our opportunity to live our faith and pass on our blessings. This year, our Parish will be collecting both cooked and frozen turkeys or turkey breasts, and canned goods for the homeless this Thanksgiving. Your home cooking and donations will go to 2 centers in Delaware County: The Life Center in Upper Darby and The Wesley Center in Chester. The Life Center feeds over 300 men and women and the Wesley Center takes care of 1000 women and children. They will also be donated to other families in need. This is a community endeavor, so PLEASE consider volunteering for this. Please carve a cooked turkey or turkey breast and wrap it in foil. Feel free to cook it early and freeze it. The Life Center is also asking for frozen turkeys and canned goods as well this year. The turkeys and donations can be brought to the St. Anastasia parking lot in front of the Convent. Tuesday November 24th between 8:30-9:30 AM or between 3:15-4:15 PM Please maintain social distancing and wear masks for everyone's safety. If you have any questions, please contact Andrea Crimmins at [email protected] or Darcy Hyde at [email protected]. Thank you for your generosity!
Due to the Thanksgiving Holiday our printer has advised us that the deadline for the November 29th Church Bulletin is Monday, November 16th at 9:00 AM.
Inserts are due on Friday, November 13th.

Baptism will be celebrated every Sunday of the month (with some exceptions) at 1:15 PM. Parents must be registered in St. Anastasia Parish in order for the Baptism to take place. Please call Saint Anastasia Rectory Office between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, Monday thru Friday to obtain the necessary forms. All forms must be completed and returned to the Rectory, at least two weeks before you wish the Baptism to take place. You will be notified as to whether or not all forms are completed correctly. Call Linda Lawler at the Rectory 610-356-1613 with any questions.
. The good news of today’s Gospel is the extravagance of what is being given us. All we need do is be faithful in “small matters.” The cost of fidelity has no comparison to the reward given. When you give the furniture, household items and clothing you no longer use to Green Drop, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul benefits IF you tell Green Drop the donation is to help our SVDP organization.

10 ? Can you name 5? Can you name 3? How did you do? Don’t worry, you are not alone! Most of us don’t know much about many of the women in the New Testament! Who are these women? Mothers and wives, professionals, prominent society ladies, downright sinners, saintly women and shady ladies, sisters and mothers-in-law, some whose stories we know but not their names: Mary (of course), Elizabeth, Anna, Sapphira, Lydia, Lois, Eunice, Daughter of Jairus, Widow of Naim, Herodias, Martha and Mary, Mary Magdalene. Their stories are a bit irregular and convoluted -- some of these women are just downright puzzling! Saints or sinners, they helped in some mysterious way, to fulfill God’s plan. Come join our Bible Study as we learn some of the compelling stories of these women in the Bible! We will meet virtually on zoom for 5 sessions studying and reflecting on Women in the New Testament. Wednesdays, 10:00 AM or 6:00 PM. Come for one or all sessions! More than ever before, your participation in the Christmas Giving Tree Project is very much needed. As you know, there is a great need for us to help the less fortunate amount us. This year is challenging for everyone, especially those who may not have the resources to provide a suitable and happy Christmas for themselves and their families. Every year we are amazed at the phenomenal generosity of St. Annies parishioners. Let’s do it again! Due to COVID-19 restrictions there will not be a Giving Tree in the church. We’ll be collecting gift cards, cash or checks for the needy but no wrapped gifts. Gift cards most needed are to any food store, department store, drug store, Kohls, Boscov, Target, Walmart, Visa Card, Rite Aide, CVS, Lowes, Home Depot, Ross, T.J. Maxx. Staples, Marshalls, Home Goods. Barnes & Noble are among the most favorites. This year we will be helping St. John’s Hospice, The Sisters of St. Joseph Welcome Center, Divine Providence Village and those in our community who are assisted by our parish St. Vincent de Paul Society.
