To make a success of it, you've got to start young.” ~Fred Astaire Chuck Young with his wife Pam and their children With Jim ‘OB’ Young is Carl ‘King’ Delinski a.k.a. the “best egg man on the island” who has been at the Port for 19 years. Robert “Bob”Young grew up on Heather Rd. in Wildwood Crest. Football player Bob met cheerleader Ginny Carr at Wild- wood High School. He also became a Wildwood lifeguard while Ginny worked for Groffs.At 18, Bob enlisted in the US Army and they married. He spent his army time in Europe and within the first year of mar- riage Ginny had their first child, Tony, while with her family in Vir- ginia. They eventually made their way back home to Wildwood Crest with 4 children in tow, and in time bought their home on Louisville Ave. Bob was now working for Western Electric as an installer. He then became an area supervisor in charge of in- stalling all tele-communications from Cape May to Atlantic City . He also supervised all installa- tions for the Democratic Na- tional Convention of 1964 and worked a second job as a bartender and coached basketball. Bob and Ginny had a whopping 11 kids over a 24 year period. Ginny became a great mother, avid homemaker, tal- ented writer, devoted volunteer to St. Vincent’s DePaul, and an en- vironmentalist before her time, advocating recycling in the early 70’s. At home she would make a full breakfast daily, while assem- bling school lunches for every- one in brown bags for school. Lunches would consume at least 2 loaves of bread daily. They would get “cows” of milk deliv- ered. Dinner always included salad, meat, veg, a starch and des- sert!! As the family grew, so did the house. The second story ad- dition includes 6 bedrooms, a play area in the center as well as a bathroom that would accom- modate 4 at one time. (Two at the sink, one in the toilet area, and one in the shower.) The kids all had chores. TV was not a past-time…it was more like ro- saries and learning. Bob ended up retiring in 1984 so he and Ginny could en- joy life, spending winters in Florida. Bob became commis- sioner of WWC from 1985 to 1989. Bob and Ginny celebrated 57 years of marriage before Ginny’s passing on Dec. 22, 2000. She isconstantly remembered by her loved ones. Bob still enjoys golfing and is a member of the Wildwood Golf Club. He con- tinues to live through his chil- dren, 24 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, spending alot of time at the Royal Grille Café in Wildwood Crest where Chuck & Jim celebrate their 20th season. Bob Young celebrated 85 years of life on June 20 th of this year. Oldest child Tony married Wildwood Catholic High School sweetheart Ann.They have four children and six grandchildren.Tony retired from Lucent Technologies and resides in Northfield. Second oldest child Rich resides in Long Island with his wife Maxine.They have two children and six grandchildren. Rich is CEO of his own successful company,Yes, Inc. Stephanie is third. She was attending Notre Dame College for Women when she met her husband, Jim.They have three children and four grandchildren and reside in Hagerstown , MD. She is employed with Citibank. Barbara, a.k.a. “Bobbie”was next. She also attended Notre Dame College for Women and met her husband, John, when she relocated to Monmouth County .They operate a successful CPA firm, have two children and reside in Cape May . She worked many years as a waitress, hostess, and at the take-out window. She was fun to work with.You can still hear her yelling,“four dogs walking!” which meant four hot dogs to go. Ultimate jock and surfer Jim, nicknamed, OB , is #5. He attended Stockton , chasing the waves to California , Hawaii , and ultimately Florida , where he met his wife, Jamie.Today he is a partner in the restaurant business with his brother Chuck at the Royal Grille Café. Jamie manages the staff and front of the house operations at the restaurant. Active basketball player and beach lover Monique, a.k.a. “Mimi, was sixth. She worked as a professional waitress for Uries, the Windrift, and the Port Royal , ultimately becoming a partner at Oceans café in Wildwood. Sadly she passed away in April, 2007 and is forever missed by all. Chuck attended College in San Diego where he also surfed and worked for 10 years. He has run the Royal Grille Café in Wildwood Crest for 20 years with brother Jim, is a State Certified Real Estate Appraiser, and President of CR HOUSES LLC with brother Rich. In above left photo are Chuck and Pam with their 4 beautiful children, 2 recently graduated from TCNJ, Lindsey and Meagan, Cj is a bus boy, and young Rian who is learning the ropes of the family business. Chuck has coached all his kids in basketball, and enjoys surfing, kayaking, cycling, and running races, when he’s not behind the grill, that is. #8 Patrick attended Culinary School in ACC and partnered with Chuck for three years. He resides in Chambersburg with his wife Cheryl where he recently opened his third restaurant. They have two daughters. Beach-lover Bernadette, nicknamed “Cricket,” was ninth born. She is an RN at Christiana Hospital as well as Villanova Univer- sity . She and her husband, Bill, a commercial airline pilot, have two children. Colleen soon followed in tenth. She graduated Summa Cum Laude at Westchester University where she met her husband, Jim. They reside in Springfield , Pa with their two children. Colleen currently works as a teacher at Benchmark School. Youngest child John was an undergrad at Kings College and attended law school at the University of N. Carolina at Chapel Hill. John works as an attorney in Philadelphia . He and his wife Kelli reside in Swarthmore, Pa. and are the parents of two active young children.
