ITTHC Community Service Update
For over twenty years, ITTHC has chosen to assist the Broken Arrow Neighbors Association (BAN) as the focus of our
club’s community service. BAN provides “Assistance With Dignity” to over 12,000 people a year. It functions as a non-profit comprehensive resource center serving residents “in need” with emergency assistance services such as food,
financial assistance, medical care and clothing.
In October 2014, thanks to strong support from numerous donors, BAN moved into a new 10,000 square foot building
which was completed debt free. The new facility, located at 315 W. College in Broken Arrow, is three times larger than
their old building and allows BAN to store its entire supply of food in one place. The extra space also allows for fresh produce to be offered to clients. Clients can self-shop in the food pantry and eventually a soup kitchen will be added.
The new building also includes a WIC office and a dental clinic with two exam rooms.
BAN hosts several fund raisers throughout the year including a bi-monthly book fair which is located in a separate
building at 201 W Houston. The Book Fair is held on the first Friday and Saturday of every even month (February, April, June, August, October and December) from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; the half-price sale is the following Friday and
Saturday 8:00am to 3:00pm. There are thousands of used books: fiction, art, biography, children, computer, cooking,
craft, history, home & garden, mysteries, non-fiction, religious, science fiction, sports, text, westerns and more! PLUS
CDs, DVDs, games, records, tapes, videos, puzzles, magazines and more! (Additional information can be found on their
website.)
How ITTHC Club Members can help:
Monthly: There is always a high demand for items such as canned goods, boxed food items, and toiletries. Items can be
brought to our monthly meetings or outings. Since the list of needed items is pretty constant, we will forgo the usual
monthly list in the club newsletter. Check the BAN website at: http://www.baneighbors.org/ and look for the category
“Current Needs List” for most needed items.
Bi-Monthly: Shop at the BAN Book Fairs & donated items to this cause.
August: “Back-to-School” - We will be helping to fill backpacks with necessary supplies. We will have a list of
needed items in the July newsletter.
December: “Christmas Collection” – We will be collecting canned goods along with money contributions to this effort.
Any money collected will be matched by ITTHC and will be given to BAN to assist with the annual Christmas basket
distribution.
Thank you for helping this very worthy cause!

NATIONAL HUNT NOTES
The time is drawing near for the 44th Annual Indian
Territory Treasure Hunt. Friday, May 22nd, the stringing
and gridding of the hunt fields will be done. The stringing
crew will be getting started at 10:00am. We will set up
tables and chairs on Saturday morning.
Saturday, May 23rd is the first B-Day. This will be the day
we will bury ("bury" meaning "Just barely under the dirt!")
the first wave of coins and tokens for Saturday's hunts. The
burying of coins and other items will start 9:00 to 9:30AM.
There will be reburying to do Sunday morning for the final
day of hunts. Try to be there between 7:30AM and 8:00AM
on Sunday morning. We need ALL club members to help
with this burying, the more there are, the less work it is for
everyone.
Don’t forget May 10th is the cutoff date for the early entry
fee. Make sure your entry is postmarked by May 10th. The
hunt flyer & entry blank only are on the "Upcoming Events"
link at: www.itthc.com
Email if you have any questions ask the Hunt Masters:
Cody Reese at [email protected] or
Roger Eaton at [email protected]
Saturday - May 23rd
Remember to join us for
some fun after supper, before
the night hunt.
There will be bingo for both
cash and prizes and maybe
even some surprises!
Tickets will be on sale all day Saturday
for you to reserve your bingo cards.
* Club members are encouraged to bring
prize donations to contribute to the fun.*

As the coordinator for the concession stand during the
National Hunt, I really need
all the help I can get to work
the concessions.
I will have a sign up sheet at the May meeting for you to sign up for 2-hour time slots. (You
are welcome to work as long as you wish.)
It would be great if you can help provide
some of the following items to keep the club from having to purchase them, which will
help keep the expense down and increase the
profits for the club. Ketchup, mustard, mayo,
pickles, relish, sliced cheese, shredded
cheese, and of course DESSERTS!!!
There will be a sign up sheet for these items
at the club meeting. If you are not there, and
want to bring something, call or email me so that we don't have too many of one item and
not enough of something else. I also need to
know by May 19th if you will be providing
any of them.
Remember, this is a fund-raiser for YOUR club, and to make it successful YOU need to
help make it work!!!
Thank you in advance for your help!!!

Metal detectors work by transmitting an
electromagnetic field from the search coil into the
ground. Any metal objects (targets) within the
electromagnetic field will become energised and
retransmit an electromagnetic field of their own.
The detector’s search coil receives the retransmitted
field and alerts the user by producing a target
response. Minelab metal detectors are capable of
discriminating between different target types and
can be set to ignore unwanted targets.
1. Battery The battery provides power to the
detector.
2. Control Box The control box contains the
detector’s electronics. This is where the transmit
signal is generated and the receive signal is
processed and converted into a target response.
3. Search Coil The detector’s search coil transmits
the electromagnetic field into the ground and
receives the return electromagnetic field from a
target.
4. Transmit Electromagnetic Field (visual
representation only - blue) The transmit
electromagnetic field energises targets to enable
them to be detected.
5. Target A target is any metal object that can be
detected by a metal detector. In this example, the
detected target is treasure, which is a good
(accepted) target.
6. Unwanted Target Unwanted targets are
generally ferrous (attracted to a magnet), such as
nails, but can also be non-ferrous, such as bottle
tops. If the metal detector is set to reject unwanted
targets then a target response will not be produced
for those targets.
7. Receive Electromagnetic Field (visual
representation only - yellow) The receive
electromagnetic field is generated from energised
targets and is received by the search coil.
Target Response (visual representation only -
green) When a good (accepted) target is detected the
metal detector will produce an audible response,
such as a beep or change in tone. Many Minelab
detectors also provide a visual display of target
information.

Club Outing
On Sunday April 26th at 2:00 pm the club held an outing at Mohawk Park in the
North end near the old Polo Field. The
weather turned out to be really super.
The main purpose of this outing was to
learn more about the metal detector that one is currently using by talking to other
members that may have a detector like the
one you own also, to learn more about
techniques of metal detecting.
There were twenty six members that
showed up to learn, hunt or instruct.
There were a few new members that did
ask questions about their detector and I do believe that they learned something new
about their detector.
For example: Lee Wierzchowski asked
Cody Reese for help with his Garrett AT Pro which he recently acquired. I know
that Lee went away knowing a lot more
than he did when he arrived.
Several members also hunted the grounds
around where we met and a few modern coins were found and I know of one
Roosevelt dime that was found by John
Hamilton. I also know of one possible
silver ring that was found.
I believe that everyone that came had a good time hunting and instructing. It was
nice to see that so many come out for
something like this.
