“HORNBLOWER” NEWSLETTER”
for February Ahooga!!!!
Happy Valentines Day
I hope everyone had a Happy New Year, so we can
get ready for the upcoming year. In our last meeting we again
had a great turn out even though we had at least 1/3 missing,
but that's still ok.
I am hoping we can get some interesting tours this year, even if
some of us have already been there. Keep in mind that we have
new members in our club. For those of you conducting a tour
remember we can invite other members from other clubs. I
would like to thank Larry and Maria for providing the January
refreshments.
At this point there are some Model-A's that are still in need of
repair. We will attempt to get them on the road very soon. We
also had a good turnout at Buzz's luncheon, everything tasted
delicious.
Don't forget the Turlock Swap Meet and the Farm Show com-
ing up. See you all
there.
Take Care Your President
Louis Armendarez.

Happy Honker Model A Club
Meeting Minutes January 10, 2019
The meeting was called to order by President Louie Armendarez at 6:40 p.m. at the Pizza
Factory in Porterville. The Flag Salute was led by Larry Mase. The 50/50 Drawing was won
by Diana McTier. She won $15.00 and $15.00 went into the Club Treasury.
The Minutes of the previous meeting were read and David moved to approve them as read.
Phil seconded. Motion carried.
Correspondence
1. President Louie shared a flyer from the upcoming Turlock Swap Meet to be held on
January 26 and 27 at the Stanislaus county Fair Grounds in Turlock.
2. President Louie shared a flyer from another Model A club re: a 1929 Model A Road-
ster pickup for sale. The pickup did not have a top. Louie has the information about the
pickup if anyone is interested in it.
Treasurer's Report Cruz gave the Treasurer's Report. John Adams moved to accept the re-
port as presented, Bill Langton seconded, the motion carried.
Sunshine Report In Glenda's absence, Bill reported they had not been informed of any ill-
nesses or injuries. Glenda was home recuperating from her cataract surgery that had taken
place this morning in Fresno.
Cruz read a letter from long time members Bob and Dee Lentine. Their health has not
been good, they are both dealing with serious health issues. Bob informed the members that
he will no longer be raising deer and all the deer must be off his property by the end of
January. They wish to remain members and they asked for our prayers as they deal with
their health issues.
Tour Report Bill Langton reminded members that the date for the Potluck lunch at Buzz
Fisher's home has been changed to Saturday, Jan. 19th at 1:00 p.m.
Bill reviewed the scheduled tours for the year and reported that the months of February
and July were in need of someone to lead a tour.
Phil reported that Jason Deisman, Vice Pres. of the Charter Oak Club, is working on a
tour to Tim McMaster's Hanford Auto, in Hanford to be followed by a stop at Superior
Dairy for lunch, etc. There is no specific date for this tour. Phil will keep Bill informed of
when the tour will take place. Phil added that Tim is considering joining the Charter Oak
Chapter.
President Louie asked the Secretary to read an article in the Old Cars and Motorsports
newspaper which had been written by Phil and Linda Kneeland. The well written article
told of several of the tours our club had taken recently, accompanied with photos, and in-
vited any interested parties to contact them for meeting information. It was brought up that
Larry Mase has been paying for our club's information, meeting time and place, and a
phone number to call to be placed in The Old Cars and Motorsports newspaper for a couple
of years.

(Minutes continued)
Several in the club offered to reimburse Larry the $55.00 a year he has been paying for the
advertisement, however, Larry declined. David suggested that both Charter Oak and Happy
Honkers go together to pay for an advertisement about each club, however, Larry said that,
according to the editor of the newspaper, each club would have to pay separately for an ad-
vertisement of their own. David moved to have the club split the cost of the Happy Honker
advertisement with Larry.
C.C.R.G. David reminded the members the Merced Jamboree Registration materials are
available on line on the MAFCA site. Members are urged to send in their registration as soon
as possible. Phil will publish the registration forms in the February Newsletter. The Jambo-
ree is March 29-30, 2019.
New Business:
Phil presented his progress on the new 2019 Club Rosters. He discussed printing costs,
asking the members to vote on the printer to be used. Larry Williams made a motion to let
Phil chose the best printer to do the job for us. Carson seconded, the motion carried, the
members present unanimously voted for Phil to use the printer of his choice.
Phil read a letter thanking us for our participation in the Christmas Party held for the people
of Paradise, Ca. The stuffed animals we brought to our Christmas Party were given to the
children of Paradise. Mr. and Mrs. Clause presented toys and each of the children were able
to pick out their favorites! Teenagers were given gift cards for food and clothing and adults
received food and gas cards. Each person received oranges, and several other gifts. All of the
gifts, gift cards, money were donated by people in the Visalia-Porterville-Exeter area. The
letter mentioned how many of the children feared Santa Clause would not be able to find
them because their houses and all they owned had been totally destroyed in the Camp Fire.
Needless to say, they were delighted to be able to see Santa and Mrs. Clause and the gifts they
had brought with them! The party was a great success!
Phil went on to mention the upcoming Antique Farm Equipment Show April 12th-14th, 2019.
Our club will have a display of cars, along with the Charter Oak Model A Club on Saturday,
April 13th. This year each car will need an entry form filled out and mailed to the Antique
Farm Equipment Show office at the Heritage Center in Tulare. The cost will be $10.00 per
car entered. They have a large area reserved for our cars, so let's fill up the space with our
cars!
Program: President Louie presented a list of suggested maintenance jobs to make sure our
Model A's are in tip top shape after sitting idly during the winter months. It was an extensive
list to which Dave added, "Mothballs will keep mice out of your car. Be sure to put them in a
shallow dish/cup and refresh them every month."
Phil mentioned that there would be another opportunity for Happy Honker members to par-
ticipate in a complementary photo shoot similar to the one held at the Bockman's this past
October. The time will be announced later, the place will probably be at the Bockman's
again.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:35 p.m. to delicious apple Pie and ice cream provided by
Larry and Maria Mase.
Respectively submitted,
Karen Bockman, Secretary
