Christmas Dear Parishioner, The year 2020 is ending. Many will say not soon enough. Indeed, it has been a challenging year to say the least, one of those that will be talked about for generations to come. Things will not change overnight once 2021 is welcomed, but our hope must be renewed for better times. I want to honestly thank the Resurrection family for all the support we received this year. This support came in various ways, mostly through the patience and understanding as we had to learn and adapt to the situations as they were presented to us. Decisions had to be made, some of them not so easy, and we still need to evaluate each step to plan the next ones. Thank you for sailing with us through these uncharted waters, as we used to say months ago. Christmas is always special when celebrated with family. Many will not have that opportunity this year due to various reasons such as restrictions on traveling, work, or even to avoid crowds. The hurt we are feeling goes beyond the economic side, and many parishioners have lost their jobs in our area, so heavily dependent on the tourism industry. There is a sense of insecurity, anxiety and even depression. Please know that we are here for you, for your support or if you know of anyone who is hurting, let us know and we can together find a way of better helping our brothers and sisters. Even the home bound, the priests continue to visit them, bringing communion and the anointing for the sick, even if our lay ministers to the sick are not back yet with their visitation for their own security and of those visited. We have seen so much solidarity. But unto us a child is born, the Savior, the reason for our hope. Keep the faith, look beyond the obscure

clouds hiding the sun. The Light will shine and dissipate darkness, and that Light is Jesus the Lord! Have a Blessed and Hope filled Christmas!!

I want to share some update concerning the maintenance work done here at the

parish buildings. Those are accomplishments for the whole parish, for you have

made these projects possible. The work on the church’s roof is almost done. We

know the building needs further maintenance and we are already preparing the next

steps that will include the fixing of many cracks on the stucco and waterproofing

the outside walls. The scope of this work is not small, and we should start the

biddings the next few weeks. With that work will come the painting of the exterior

of the church’s building. Then we will continue with the maintenance of the inside

of the building, fixing, and updating some of the electrical and plumbing. We plan

to continue with the renovation changing our carpet, renovating (maybe

rearranging) the pews and altar area, and painting the inside of the church.

Depending on how successful we are in the process, we can even think about some new religious art inside the

church. This is our gathering place, and we want to make it a welcoming place, with an environment leading us to

prayer, connecting with God and our parish community. Our Fund of Depreciation savings will be basically gone once

we finish with the roof. We do have some other savings, however for those who at the end of the year are generous

enough to share their blessings with donations to Resurrection, I would suggest donating to the Fund of Depreciation

Savings Account. This will be a big help in the future renovations.

I want also to thank all those families who were able to fulfill

their pledges to the 2020 Our Catholic Appeal. We have made

our highest goal ever thanks to you.

shared nationwide with all the retired Sisters, Brothers and Priests in Religious Life. Our Sisters of Notre Dame and the Scalabrinian priests will benefit from your

kindness. I feel confident that I can promise you the prayers of the sisters in gratitude for your sharing in our care. We have a Prayer Line as Sisters of Notre Dame. If

you know someone in need of prayer you can call the number in our Chardon Provincial Center to request special prayers for yourself or for someone else. Our

retired sisters will pray specifically for your intentions each day. Call the Prayer Line of the Sisters of Notre

Dame 440-279-1163. From 9:00am to 4:00 pm a prayer sister will answer this phone. If it is after hours you may leave a message and your prayer intention will be

Little Bethlehem Christian will be after all Saturday and Sunday Masses

on this weekend (Dec. 19th & 20th). The group represented by the

Alsahouri family will display a collection of hand carving olivewood

religious items, as they are also for sale. The profit goes to support

Christianity in the land of Christ. Please take a minute after Mass and

Quero compartilhar algumas atualizações sobre o trabalho de manutenção feito aqui nos

prédios da paróquia. Essas são conquistas para toda a paróquia, pois você tornou esses

projetos possíveis. O trabalho no telhado da igreja está quase pronto. Sabemos que o

prédio precisa de mais manutenção e já estamos preparando os próximos passos que

incluirão os reparos de muitas rachaduras no reboco e impermeabilização das paredes

externas. O escopo desta obra não é pequeno, e devemos iniciar as licitações nas

próximas semanas. Com essa obra virá a pintura do exterior do prédio da igreja. Então

continuaremos com a manutenção do interior do prédio, consertando e atualizando a

parte elétrica e encanamentos. Planejamos continuar com a reforma trocando o

carpete, reformando (talvez reorganizando) os bancos e a área do altar, e pintando o

interior da igreja. Dependendo do sucesso deste processo, podemos até pensar em alguma nova arte religiosa dentro

da igreja. Este é o nosso local de encontro, e queremos torná-lo um lugar acolhedor, com um ambiente que nos leve

à oração, conectando-nos com Deus e com nossa comunidade paroquial. Utilizaremos toda a nossa poupança do

Fundo de Depreciação na reforma do telhado. Temos outras economias, porém para aqueles que no final do ano são

generosos o suficiente para compartilhar suas bênçãos com doações para a Paroquia da Ressurreição, sugiro doar

para o Fundo de Poupança de Depreciação. Isso será uma grande ajuda nas futuras reformas.

Quero também agradecer a todas as famílias que puderam cumprir suas promessas ao Nosso Apelo Católico 2020 (Our

Catholic Appeal – Campanha Diocesana). Alcançamos nosso maior objetivo graças a você.

Natal... Caro Paroquiano O ano de 2020 está terminando. Muitos não sentirão saudades. De fato, foi um ano desafiador, sem sombras de dúvida, um daqueles que serão recordados nas gerações futuras. As coisas não mudarão da noite para o dia quando 2021 chegar, mas nossa esperança em tempos melhores deve ser renovada sempre. Quero agradecer honestamente à nossa família paroquial por todo o apoio que recebemos este ano. Esse apoio veio de várias formas, principalmente através da paciência e compreensão, pois tivemos que aprender a nos adaptar às situações como elas nos foram apresentadas. As decisões tinham que ser tomadas, algumas delas não tão fáceis, e o processo de avaliar e panejar é constante. Obrigado por navegar conosco essas águas desconhecidas, como costumávamos dizer meses atrás. O Natal é sempre especial quando celebrado em família. Muitos não terão essa oportunidade este ano devido a várias razões, como restrições a viagens, trabalho ou mesmo para evitar multidões. A dor que estamos sentindo vai além do lado econômico, e muitos paroquianos perderam seus empregos em nossa área, tão fortemente dependente do turismo. Há uma sensação de insegurança, ansiedade e até depressão. Por favor, saiba que estamos aqui para apoiar você ou se você sabe de alguém que está necessitado, avise-nos e podemos encontrar juntos uma maneira de ajudar melhor nossos irmãos e irmãs. Nó padres continuamos a visitar enfermos, levando comunhão e a unção para os doentes, mesmo que nossos ministros leigos ainda não estejam de volta com suas visitas por questões de segurança própria e dos visitados. Tanta solidariedade que vimos. Mas para nós nasce uma criança, o Salvador, a razão de nossa esperança. Mantenha a fé, olhe além das nuvens obscuras escondendo o sol. A Luz brilhará e dissipará a escuridão, a Luz é Jesus, o Senhor! Tenha um Natal abençoado e cheio de esperança!

Navidad….. Estimado feligrés,

El año 2020 está terminando. Muchos dirán que no lo suficientemente pronto. De hecho, ha sido un año desafiante por decir mucho, uno de los que se hablará en las generaciones venideras. Las cosas no cambiarán de la noche a la mañana una vez que 2021 sea bienvenido, pero nuestra esperanza debe renovarse para tiempos mejores.

Quiero agradecer sinceramente a la familia de la Resurrección por todo el apoyo que recibimos este año. Este apoyo llegó de varias formas, principalmente a través de la paciencia y la comprensión que tuvimos para aprender y adaptarnos a las situaciones que se nos presentaron. Se tuvieron que tomar decisiones, algunas de ellas no tan fáciles, y aún tenemos que evaluar cada paso para planificar los siguientes. Gracias por navegar con nosotros por estas aguas inexploradas, como decíamos hace meses. La Navidad siempre es especial cuando se celebra en familia. Muchos no tendrán esa oportunidad este año por diversas razones, como restricciones para viajar, trabajar o incluso para evitar aglomeraciones. El dolor que sentimos va más allá del aspecto económico, y muchos feligreses han perdido sus trabajos en nuestra área, tan dependiente de la industria del turismo. Hay una sensación de inseguridad, ansiedad e incluso depresión. Por favor, sepa que estamos aquí para usted, para su apoyo o si conoce a alguien que esté sufriendo, avísenos y juntos podremos encontrar una manera de ayudar mejor a nuestros hermanos y hermanas. Incluso a los confinados en casa, los sacerdotes continúan visitándolos, trayendo la comunión y la unción a los enfermos, incluso si nuestros ministros laicos a los enfermos aún no han regresado con su visita para su propia seguridad y la de los visitados. Hemos visto tanta solidaridad.

Quiero compartir una actualización sobre el trabajo de mantenimiento realizado aquí en los

edificios parroquiales. Estos han sido logros para toda la parroquia, porque son ustedes los que

han hecho posible estos proyectos. El trabajo en el techo de la iglesia está casi terminado.

Sabemos que el edificio necesita más mantenimiento y ya estamos preparando los próximos pasos

los que incluirán la reparación de muchas grietas en el estuco y la impermeabilización de las

paredes exteriores. El alcance de este trabajo no es pequeño y deberíamos comenzar las

licitaciones en las próximas semanas. Con ese trabajo vendrá la pintura del exterior del edificio

de la iglesia. Luego continuaremos con el mantenimiento del interior del edificio, arreglando y

actualizando parte de la instalación eléctrica y de plomería. Planeamos continuar con la renovación cambiando

nuestra alfombra, renovando (tal vez reorganizando) las bancas y el área del altar, y pintando el interior de la

iglesia. Dependiendo del éxito que tengamos en el proceso, incluso podemos pensar en algún arte religioso nuevo

dentro de la iglesia. Este es nuestro lugar de reunión y queremos que sea un lugar acogedor, con un entorno que nos

lleve a la oración, a conectarnos con Dios y nuestra comunidad parroquial. Nuestros ahorros del Fondo de

Depreciación básicamente desaparecerán una vez que terminemos con el techo. Tenemos algunos otros ahorros, sin

embargo, para aquellos que al final del año son lo suficientemente generosos como para compartir sus bendiciones

con donaciones para la Resurrección, les sugiero que hagan una donación a la Cuenta de Ahorros del Fondo de

Depreciación. Esto será de gran ayuda en las futuras renovaciones.

También quiero agradecer a todas aquellas familias que pudieron cumplir con sus promesas a Nuestra Campaña

Católica 2020. Hemos logrado nuestro objetivo más alto gracias a ti.
