“Excellence is a habit. It is to take a common thing in an uncommon way. It is made
constant through the feeling that comes right after one has completed a piece of
work which he himself finds undeniably awe-inspiring. The will to win, the desire to
succeed, and the urge to reach your goal unlocks the door to personal excellence.
The students of OPJMS have always striven hard to attain excellence in all their
endeavours. They leave no stone unturned to reach the pinnacle of success because
they believe that excellence is an art won by training and habituation, the result of a
commitment to perfection, intelligent planning and focused effort.
The academic session 2013-14 was reminiscent of the incessant efforts made by
OPJMSinas in order to attain perfection in every academic activity organised during
the period between 28th Sept. to 1st Oct 2013.
Chaitanya Bansal of class XI bagged first prize at zonal and district level Declamation
competition held on 22nd and 30th Oct 2013, and made the school proud by
qualifying for the State Level Competition to be held at Karnal on 7th Nov. 2013.
Bhavi Jain of class X-E brought laurels to the school by receiving the certificate of
Excellence and Trophy for her outstanding efforts at the State Level Dainik Bhaskar
Junior Editor II Competition held in the month of May 2014.
Our quiz wizards , Anuj of class X and Vishesh Raina, of class IX outshone their
opponents at the Bharat Ko Jaano’ – a district level quiz competition organised by
Bharat Vikas Parishad on 27th Oct 2013 by bagging the first prize. They further
impressed the selectors by qualifying for the state level.
There is no denying the fact that Science holds in itself a promise for a better future
and a better world. With this lofty thought in mind, OPJMS lays emphasis on the
learning of science, not as a subject, but as a means to a brighter future. A team of
four students – Umang Aggarwal, Prashant, Ajay of class XII and Sahil Sahu of class
XI clinched the first prize in XIX All India Inter-School Science Quiz – PRISM 2013
organised by BRCM Public School, Bahal on 23rd and 24th Oct 2013.
The month of November ensued many more moments of pride and honour for
OPJMS. Chaitanya Bansal of class XI proved his mettle by striking a hat-trick again to
bag the first prize at the State Level Declamation Contest held on 7th Nov. 2013. He
was honoured by the Hon’ble Governor of Haryana, Sri Jagannath Paharia in a
formal ceremony on 14th Nov. 2013 at Rewari.
Two students participated in the Science Essay Writing Competition organised by
Haryana State Council of Science and Technology on 15th Nov 2013 where in Daksh
Mehta of class XI qualified for the Zonal Level Competition. The school team
participated in the District Level Science Quiz and impressed everyone with their
knowledge, bagging the first prize and qualifying for the Zonal Level.
Sanskrit, being the mother of all European languages and a legacy passed on to us by
our ancestors, has not lost its importance in today’s ultra-modern world. We, at
OPJMS, understand its significance and do our best to inculcate among students a
love for this ancient cultural heritage. A group of 4 students participated in the
District Level Gyan Competition organised by Haryana Sanskrit Academy, Panchukla
on 28th Nov 2013 and received certificates and cash prize. Vishesh Raina of class IX,
Anuj Gupta of class X received a cash prize of Rs. 1000 each in the District Level
Sanskrit Gyan Quiz Competition organised by Haryana Sanskrit Academy, Panchkula
on 29th Nov. 2013.
Three students from class X participated in the CBSE Heritage India Quiz held at
DAV Public School, Gurgaon on 9th Dec 2013 and made their almamater proud by
qualifying for the city Chapter, Regional round and National Semi Final rounds. In
the National final round on 17th Dec. 2013, the team scored the fourth position
among a whopping 1100 schools from eight regions.
The dawn of the year 2014 brought with it new hopes, aspirations and a new vision
to reach the zenith by shattering new records and grabbing more recognition.
Proving their mettle in Science, a team of three students of class XII bagged the first
prize in the Zonal Level Science Quiz organised by Vaish Girls Sr. Sec. School,
Charkhi Dadri on 19th Jan 2014 and won a cash prize of Rs. 3100/- and a trophy. The
feat was matched by 46 students from class III to XII who cleared the first level of
the National Science Olympiad 2013 conducted by the Science Olympiad
Foundation, Gurgaon.
OPJMS helps to ignite young minds to create awareness about their surroundings
and use Science as a torch to illuminate the world. Rishabh Jain of X-E secured third
position in IGNITE, a National Level Quiz Contest organised by VIT University,
Vallore in association with the Times of India Group on 17 Feb. 2013 and was
awarded with an all-expense paid trip to NASA, USA. Rishabh also topped in the
regional level contest held on 2nd Feb 2014 in New Delhi.
Sahil of class V, Ayush of class VI and Aman Chauhan of class VIII received
certificates of outstanding performance in the ASSET (Assessment of Scholastic
Skills Through Educational Testing) conducted by Educational Initiatives,
Ahmedabad among the overall top 1% students per class country wide.
Aditya and Soumya of class XI continued the winning streak by receiving a cheque of
Rs. 2100/- each as first prize in the District Legal Literacy Competition organised
under Legal Literacy Mission by Dept. of Secondary Education, Govt. of Haryana in
the PowerPoint presentation and Documentary Film categories respectively.
The month of April witnessed yet another series of events and accolades. Inter
House Hindi and English Debate was organised on 26th April 2014 for Middle and
Senior Group while students of class V participated in Inter House English
Recitation and students of class IV were assessed for Hindi Creative Writing.
The budding scientists from OPJMS once again outshone their competitors to bag
gold, silver and bronze medals for their outstanding performance in the first level of
16th National Science Olympiad.
Eleven students of the school qualified for the JEE (main) examinations, paving way
for other youngsters to follow suit.
Keeping up its winning spree, OPJMS added more feathers to its cap when the
results of AISSCE 2014 were declared on 28th May 2014. OPJMSians performed
phenomenally well with the highest percentage being 97.8% in Commerce, 97 in
Non-Medical and 96.2 in Medial stream. 69 students scored above 90% in overall
aggregate.
Students of OPJMS performed exceptionally well in the AISSE 2014 as well. The
perfect 10 figure in terms of CGPA was attained by 54 students out of 269, whereas
129 students achieved CPGA 9.
Following the footprints of their seniors, students of OPJMS once again mesmerized
one and all with their exemplary performance in the 16th National Science Olympiad.
Varun Malik of class X of the 2013-14 batch brought laurels to the institution by
securing first rank in the state and the third international rank. His performance is
noteworthy since this year more than 27000 schools from over 1350 cities in 16
countries registered for the Olympiad and millions of students appeared for them.
The junior were not far behind. They matched the performance of their senior
counterparts when Sahil and Manya of class VI secured 4th rank in the 5th National
Level Abacus Competition Pvt. Ltd. New Delhi.
After a refreshing summer break the month of July revived fresh challenges and
hopes for the students of OPJMS who participated in a variety of competitions with
renewed vigour and spirit. Umang Aggarwal, Prashant Chauhan and Samridhi of
class XII (2013 BATCH) were awarded a scholarship for Higher Education (SHE) by
the Dept. of Science & Technology (DST) Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of
India under innovation in Science pursued for inspired Research (INSPIRE) on
account of their score falling in top 1% at class XII exams. Under the scheme, they
would receive scholarship valued 80,000/- per year against their enrolment in
Bachelor or Integrated Master’s Level Programme in Basic and National Science
Courses.
Abhi Raheja of class X, an active member of the school photography club, was
adjudged as the Best Photographer in The Model United Nations held at Thappar
University, Patiala. He was also selected as the Head of the International Press in
Model United Nations held at Jaipur Law University on 12th and 13th July 2014. He
was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 4000 and was invited to attend MUN at the Mumbai
Conference, IIT Guwahati and Taj Vivanta, New Delhi.
To commemorate the birth anniversary of Founder, Sh. OP Jindal’ on 7th August
2014, OP Jindal Memorial Inter-School Debate Competition was organised.
Participants from 14 prestigious schools across the country ensued a battle of wits
with their sprightly disputations from both pro and anti-groups on the topic
‘Peaceful Co-existence is a myth in the world where night is right’. The running
trophy was clinched by OPJMS, but it being the host school, the same was awarded
to the second team.
Vishesh Raina of class X exhibited exemplary performance and stood first at the
District Level Science Seminar organised by National Science Centre, New Delhi on
13th August 2014 at the Centre for Bio-technology, CCSHAU, Hisar. Having secured
the third position in the State Level Science Seminar held at SCERT, Gurgaon, he
bagged a cash prize of Rs. 750 and a participation certificate.
Elocution being the art of public speaking with expert control of gesture and voice
etc., our students have mastered it and proven their oratorical expertise time and
again. At the Raunaq Inter School English Elocution Competition on 23rd Aug 2014,
the students made a clean sweep with Vansh Sehrawat of class V and Prithvi Sihag of
class X bagging the first prize in their respective categories while Anushka Juneja of
class VIII and Chaitanya Bansal of class XII clinched consolation prizes. With his
invincible oratory and expression, Pranshu Nagpal of class XII swept the third prize
at the Inter-School English Debate Competition held at Birla Niketan, Birla Public
School, Pilani an 31st August 2014. He left an indelible mark on the minds of the
audience with his lofty views on ‘100% FDI in Defence Sector will turn India into a
mere manufacturing centre and compromise its national security.’
The year 2014 brought for its students numerous opportunities for their perpetual
grooming and honing so that they may emerge as Numero Uno who with their
strength of character and strenuous efforts would touch the luminous portals of
success and inspire posterity with their achievements in coming years.
