Cemetery Seasonal Help Needed We are now seeking applications for seasonal workers for the summer. Prospective workers must be at least 18 years of age, capable of doing demanding physical work and able to pass drug screening. Jobs are weather dependent and should begin around late April. To apply, come to the parish office for a job application.

Note from the Pastor

I am happy to report that Israel Navarro, one of our Altar Servers, and a senior in High School has been named Altar Server of the Year. Israel has served since 4

th grade and, in particular, has served, most faithfully, at

Lenten Stations of the Cross each Friday for 5 years. He will be honored by Bishop Richard Malone at a ceremony on Saturday, April 30 in the Cathedral in downtown Buffalo. We are proud of him and congratulate him for commitment to the parish and his faithful service at the altar.

Second Collection Next Weekend Last week we erroneously announced that the Collection for Catholic Home Missions would take place this weekend. Actually the date should be next weekend. Your contribution will help strengthen the Church at home and will help ensure that the Gospel is spread across the United States. To learn more, visit www.usccb.org/home-missions.

Progress Catholic Charities 2016 As of the last tally, our parish has reached 82% of our Appeal goal. We appreciate the sacrificial gift that many of you have made. It is not too late to make your pledge or donation. If you have the card that was mailed to you, simply place it and your gift in the collection basket or in the mail. If you have lost your card, simply make your donation along with your name and address. This campaign does a world of good and makes a real difference in the lives of many in our immediate area. Please do your part!

A Million Mercies During this Year of Mercy Pope Francis is challenging us to develop a habitual, even instinctive, merciful response to those we meet so that mercy becomes a life style. We encourage you to jot down an act of mercy that you practiced this week. Please do not include your name. Your act of mercy can be written on one of the papers in the pews and placed in the collection basket or left in a special basket at the church doors. Eventually they will be brought up at the Presentation of Gifts and later placed on the back wall of the church. “Christ in us moves us to action.”

Catholics and Political Responsibility In their document, Pastors, Parishes and Political Responsibility, The Bishops of New York State go further than simply asserting the rights of Catholics to participate in the political process. It notes that such participation is obligatory. “In the Catholic Tradition…… participation in political life is a moral obligation… The obligation to participate in political life is rooted in our baptismal commitment to follow Jesus and to bear Cristian witness in all we do.” -NYS Bishops
