“God Will Take Care of You” No. 692 “No matter what may be the test, God will take care of you. Lean, weary

one, upon His breast; God will take care of you. God will take care of you, thro’ every day, o’er all the way. He will take care of you; God will take care of you.”

BENEDICTION POSTLUDE “Holy, Holy, Holy” Traditional MATTHEW 21:23-27 (NIV)

“Jesus entered the temple courts, and, while he was teaching, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him. ‘By what authority are you doing these things?’ they asked. ‘And who gave you this authority?’ Jesus replied, ‘I will also ask you one question. If you answer me, I will tell you by what authority I am doing these things. John’s baptism—where did it come from? Was it from heaven, or of human origin?’ They discussed it among themselves and said, ‘If we say, ‘from heaven,’ he will ask, ‘then why didn’t you believe him?’ But if we say, ‘Of human origin’—we are afraid of the people, for they all hold that John was a prophet.’ So they answered Jesus, ‘We don’t know.’ Then he said, ‘Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.’”

Prayer of Intercession: (In Unison) Gracious God, we pray for peace, justice and reconciliation throughout the

world. We pray for the renewal of the Church in faith, love and service. We pray for those who are in need: for the sick, sorrowful and bereaved. We pray for all who bring comfort, care and healing. We give thanks for love and friendship and for all that enriches our daily lives. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray.

L: Let us now pray together the prayer that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ taught us: P: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. BOOK STUDY GROUP

Carry On, Warrior – The Power of Embracing your Messy, Beautiful Life by Glennon Doyle Melton

This book invites us to believe in ourselves and our faith, to be brave and kind, to let go of the idea of perfection and to stop making motherhood, marriage, and friendship harder by pretending they’re not hard. I just finished this book and would love the chance to enjoy it and share it with others! Please join in a casual book study on Wednesdays at 5:30 until 6:00 p.m., beginning October 15th, in the Watt House. Childcare is available and we will follow the children’s Choir schedule. Please contact Carrie Bemis (623) 203-2909 or [email protected] if you have any questions. Sign up in Souers Hall for the book study.

HOMELESS YOUTH CONNECTION

Attend the Youth Empowerment Breakfast on Thursday, October 23rd, at 7:00 a.m. at Tuscany Ballroom in PebbleCreek to learn how to become eligible for an Arizona State Charitable Tax Credit of $200 for individuals and $400 for married couples in support of Homeless Youth Connection’s homeless teens. Sign-up in Souers Hall by October 19th. You may also contact Lynn Logue at (623) 412-9727 or Dawn Bogart at Homeless Youth Connection at (623) 374-3747 for more information.

PHOENIX SYMPHONY HOLIDAY POPS

The Fellowship Committee is taking orders for tickets to the Phoenix Symphony annual Holiday Pops concert at the Phoenix Symphony Hall on Saturday, December 6th, at 2:00 p.m. This festive concert will soar to new heights with the symphony, symphony chorus and Desert Bell choir. There will be popular Christmas music and a time to sing-along. Tickets are $40 each for Section C on the main floor. Sign up in Souers Hall between services or in the office during the week. The deadline to sign up and pay for your tickets will be Sunday, October 26th. Make checks payable to The Church at Litchfield Park and write “Pops Concert” in the memo line.
