The State of Food Insecurity in the World 2013
The 2013 edition of The State of Food Insecurity in theWorld was released at the beginning of October The report presents updatedestimates of undernourishment andprogress towards the MillenniumDevelopment Goal (MDG) and WorldFood Summit (WFS) hunger targetsThe latest assessment shows thatfurther progress has been madetowards the 2015 MDG target whichremains within reach for thedeveloping regions as a wholealthough marked differences acrossregions persist and considerable andimmediate additional efforts will be needed The 2013 report also presents a broader suite ofindicators that aim to capture the multidimensional natureof food insecurity its determinants and outcomes Drawingon the suite of indicators the report also examines thediverse experiences of six countries (Bangladesh GhanaNepal Nicaragua Tajikistan and Uganda) finding a mixedpicture of progress and setbacks
