The Year of Mercy Dec. 8, 2015- Nov. 20, 2016
We become fully human when we become more than human, when we let God bring us beyond ourselves in order to attain the fullest truth of our being. Here we find the source and inspiration of all our efforts at evangelization. For it we have received the love which restores meaning to our lives, how can we fail to share that love with others?
-- Evangelii Gaudium
Reflection: How does God’s mercy make us more human? How does a real encounter with his mercy cause us to share this mercy with others? Where is God calling you to share his mercy next?
From A Year of Mercy with Pope Francis: Daily Reflections
Mercy in action!
A special thank you to Grace Ann Perejda, parishioner, who recently donated food items and cash from her 12

Job Posting
Thank you to all who completed our recent parish survey and/or participated in our community meetings. The findings voiced by many indicate a need for more opportunities to be involved in our parish and school. To help achieve this goal, the Steering Committee recommends that a new, part time, parish staff position of Director of Service be created.
Director of Service The purpose of this position is to welcome, invite, and encourage participation of parishioners within and/or outside of our parish and school community by identifying individuals’ talents and strengths using the Living Your Strengths process for those interested. This staff member will connect parishioners with an appropriate or best suited ministry/outreach as soon as possible. This position is part-time with flexible hours. Hours are cyclical and range from 8-16 per week. Experience with motivating volunteers and/or staff is helpful. The ability to speak Spanish is also desirable. For a complete job description, please see our parish website at www.annunlord.com or
contact the parish office.
To apply for the position, please submit a cover letter, resume, and list of three professional references (with contact information) to [email protected] or fax to (256) 353-8994.

St. Vincent de Paul
Our own Annunciation Conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul was recently awarded its Aggregation. This is a classification earned by new SVdP conferences which have operated by the rules of the international Society for at least twelve months. Congratulations to our SVdP Conference and its members and thank you to all parishioners who so generously support this ministry to serve the poor among us.
Pictured above is Annunciation Conference President John Papenburg receiving the certificate of Aggregation from North Alabama Council President Morgan Jellett. The document is issued by the Superior Council in France and is written in French and translated to English on the reverse side. It will be hung in the coming weeks for all to see.
Pray the Rosary: Join us each

Attention Alabama Taxpayers
As you review your Alabama taxes this season, please consider planning for your 2016 Scholarships for Kids contribution to help St. Ann School. Ask your tax advisor about the possibility of lowering your state income tax payroll withholding and re-directing that amount to a savings account for a contribution to a Scholarship Granting Organization. The Alabama Accountability Act allows dollar-for-dollar state income tax credits for donations to approved SGOs (which also qualify as 501(c)3 organizations).
Please go to www.alabamakids.net to learn how to take advantage of this unprecedented opportunity for Alabama taxpayers and St. Ann School.
St. Ann Catholic School is accepting applications for the 2016-17 school year. Applications may be picked up at the school, Information Desk, or downloaded at www.saintanndecatur.org. If you would like more information about the school, please call and make an appointment to visit. Mr. Weimer will be glad to discuss all options.
Stewardship
“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.” The things of this world are passing away as we await a new heaven and a new earth. The “temporary” nature of earthly goods should promote our generosity.
