STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES FOR FUND PROVIDERS WAAF-IHCC continued to receive funds from the under-listed fund providers but more fund providers are needed to ensure that WAAF-IHCC receives the necessary support to ensure that it is able to contribute its quota towards the national attainment of the global 90-90-90 target with re-gards to people living with HIV. sive prevention, care and treatment services, including reliable coverage across the contin-uum of care for MSM, FSW and PLHIV
Enhanced and sustained demand for compre-hensive prevention, care and treatment ser-vices among KPs
Strengthened linkage and retention in care of KPs who test HIV positive
Strengthened systems for planning, monitoring, evaluating and ensuring the quality of pro-grams

Key meetings in 2018 Review Meetings January and May 2018 WAAF and JSI meeting on target for FY19 Nov 2018 Inception meeting December 2018 Technical Capacity Assessment December 2018 In 2018, the outreach team of the WAAF Care Continuum Project reached 1,759 MSM’s, tested 1,349 MSM’s, recorded 182 Positive cases and initiated 112 into treatment.
Star Ghana In April 2018, WAAF, as the lead in the WASOHO Con-sortium, (WAAF, Socio-Serve Ghana and Hope for Fu-ture Generations) signed a grant from STAR-Ghana as part of their Anti-Corruption call. The project is titled ‘Not in Our Name: Tackling Corruption in the Ghanaian Healthcare System’ and is funded for two years for ac-tivities in 14 districts over 6 regions. The project aims to strengthen mechanisms for tackling petty corruption in the healthcare system through:
Enhancing resources and systems for staff monitor-ing welfare
Increasing the knowledge of health staff and the public on corruption in the health sector: its causes, consequences and reporting channels
Enhancing existing complaint reporting mechanisms including facility helpdesks, as well as working with community leaders and other organisations
Supporting PWD groups to understand corruption and mobilise to lobby duty bearers for their rights
After the grant signing, the consortium met in May to strategise. In June, experienced health researcher Fi-delis Anumu assisted the consortium to collect data across implementing districts for the baseline survey. The decision was taken to have some preliminary find-ings from data collected in order to justify the project to stakeholders to secure their buy in and fullest coopera-tion. On July 19th a stakeholder engagement was held at Mi-klin Hotel in Accra for stakeholders from the southern sector to introduce the project to them and present the results of the baseline survey. On August 9th a second stakeholder engagement was held at the Catholic Guest House in Tamale for stakeholders from the Northern and Upper East Regions. On December 19th, WASOHO met at the WAAF prem-ises for a progress review. The new Project Coordina-tor, Abdulai, was introduced as Holly, who had been overseeing the project until that time, was returning to the UK.

PACF funded 'Communities Against HIV and AIDS' Project It is one targeting adolescents, women and particularly women of child bearing age en-suring they are well informed about HIV to enable them to make informed choices. Our most recent reports from the three imple-mentation regions (Central, Volta and Brong-Ahafo) showcase the impressive impact the CAPHA project is having. CAPHA aims to complement the activities of the Ghana Health Service in terms of its Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT) ef-forts through community education and out-reach for women of childbearing age, as well as facilitation of Early Infant Diagnosis (EID) testing for babies born to HIV positive moth-ers. In a half year of 2018 alone, more than 4,000 non-pregnant women have been test-ed for HIV, and more than 3,500 pregnant women have been tested. All pregnant wom-en detected positive have been linked to care, and since the start of the project in 2017, the major achievement is that every child born to a positive mother has tested negative. This shows the importance of com-prehensive PMTCT care in tackling mother to child transmission.
Healthy Mother Equals Healthy Baby Educational Day is an activity done once a month for HIV positive mothers with HIV negative babies and HIV positive pregnant women. The program is called Healthy Mother = Health baby and a staff member of WAAF-IHCC, usually a nurse or an external expert is invited to teach the group about specific topics relating to their health. It could be about nutri-tion, medicine administration, other co-morbidities related to HIV/AIDS. Before lessons start, there is a short revision of the previous topic to refresh the memories of participants. This opens the women up to knowledge sharing on the vari-ous health topics. Some of the topics treated in 2018 includ-ed the following:
-Mental health -Nutrition -Depression -Sickle cell -Cervical cancer -Temperament theory medication and compliance
The total number of women enrolled in the project for 2018 was eleven and the average number of women per session was eight. The number of HIV positive babies in 2018 was zero. TB SMALL GRANT PROJECT REPORT (2018) In 2018, WAAF implemented one small grant project support-ed by Stop TB Partnership Ghana, through National TB Con-trol program (Global Fund). This was a 3 month project where WAAF focused on:
targeting household contacts of TB index cases in part-nership with Shai Osudoku District hospital
Conducting TB screening for clients attending OPD Ser-vices at Shai Osudoku district hospital and health facil-ities in Ga East district
Conducting TB screening at market outreach activity
At the end of the project period, a total of 502 people were screened for TB, 20 people were eligible for TB, 18 were test-ed and a total of 4 were confirmed positive and initiated on treatment. All PLHIV clients attending care and treatment for IHCC are also screened for TB based on symptoms at every review visit. Clients who are classified as eligible for TB have their sputum sample collected and tested for tuberculosis by mi-croscopy testing and per GeneXpert. When a client is detect-ed positive to TB, he/she will within the shortest possible time be initiated on treatment. In addition to screening, testing and diagnosis, the IHCC team ensures to provide home verifica-tion visit and contact tracing of all registered TB clients.
19
2018 Annual Report
In 2018, IHCC diagnosed and registered a total of 10 TB clients. 3 of these 10 have successfully completed treatment, 4 are still on treatment, 1 client stopped treatment and 2 clients passed away while on treat-ment.

Clients’ success story 1: From depression to hope! In the course of the year, a young lady (who for the purposes of anonymity will be referred to as Lady X) who was contemplating suicide after experiencing extreme stigmatization by her neighbours after being disclosed as HIV positive, was recommended to WAAF-IHCC by someone who knew the sterling work that WAAF-IHCC does when it comes to counselling people living with HIV as well the organizations commitment to its zero tolerance for stigmatization and discrimination policy. The good news is that within three months of coun-selling by the IHCC team led by hard working Model of Hope Ms Alice Asante, Lady X resumed her zest for life, normal work, and social life. Clients success story 2: Healthy Mother =Healthy Baby (Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission) The number of HIV positive babies from HIV positive mothers recorded at IHCC in 2018 was zero.
