The York JCC remains a strong institution financially as indicated by the accompanying statement of activities. Our full day Child Care program remains fully enrolled with an enviable waitlist, enrolled members grew 11%, special events continue to increase attendance, and wellness programs all had a great year. A significant change from last year’s balance sheet relates to the contributions received in support of the Capital Campaign. These transactions resulted in a $4,143,952 increase in temporarily restricted revenue for the year.

Dear Members and Friends,

We are happy and proud to present the York Jewish Community Center’s annual report for the 2013-14 fiscal year.  It

has been an exhilarating year for us!

Over a hundred years ago, the York Jewish Community Center opened as a home for the Jewish community when

Jews weren’t welcomed anywhere else.  For the past 25 years, at this location, we have provided a home for the entire

York community.  We are a place where everyone is welcome, where our diverse community from across York County

and the surrounding region can be sure of being treated with warmth and dignity and respect.

This year we will further build upon our solid foundation to ensure continued service, performance, and forward

progress. After a successful capital campaign that raised more than $5.5 million, we will begin construction on the

expansion and upgrades to our facility.  This project will provide enhanced programs and services that benefit our

members and the entire community.

In the year to come you will see the following expansions and upgrades happening at the JCC:

• A 10,300 square foot expansion, with three new classrooms and a motor skills room, to allow us to almost

double the children in our full time early child care program, reduce our wait list by 55 children, and free up our

gymnasium for other programming needs.

• Renovations of existing classrooms and babysitting area.

• A 5,900 square foot expansion adding group fitness space for a variety of wellness and fitness programs, making

the auditorium, stage and meeting space available for more diversity and cultural education and others programs.

• Expansion to training assessment, exercise, cardio, and strength equipment spaces.

• Renovations to existing women’s and family locker rooms.

• Much needed parking lot expansion.

• Renovations to current administrative and program space.

• Mechanical and electrical improvements related to expansions and renovations will ensure our ability to serve our

diverse membership in comfort and safety.

What follows in these pages is a celebration of everything you have helped us accomplish in bringing us closer to

completing this outstanding project.  There’s great work ahead; the coming year will be a signature moment in the

story of the JCC and our greater community.

As we bring to a close another year of service, of community, and of demonstrating our values through meaningful

programs – we thank you for being part of our family, and for making us part of yours.  You honor us with your

membership, your patronage, your support, and your partnership.
