We are pleased to present the Bishop Gorman High School 2012 Annual Financial Report for your review. Thanks to your generosity and unwavering support, the 2011-2012 fiscal year was a success. Most notably, we awarded over $1 million in tuition assistance to 40% of our student body, fulfilling our mission to make a quality Catholic education available to a greater number of students. You can be assured that we continue to take our fiduciary responsibility seriously and are good stewards of the financial resources you so generously entrust to us.

The impact that a Bishop Gorman education can make on a student’s life is immeasurable. Whenever I encounter alumni, the message from them is always

the same…how grateful they are that they had the opportunity to attend Bishop Gorman. It is often after they graduate that they can truly appreciate their time here, the connection to the community and the education they received. We are proud to have so many successful and well respected members of society that we can call alumni, family and friends.

We are blessed to have active and dedicated donors whose support is vital to the school’s continued success. Endowment Funds designated for tuition assistance, faculty enhancement and plant and facility maintenance have been established. These designated gifts are invested under the direction of the Investment Board. Interest and investment income can be used to provide greater continuing educational opportunities to our students and faculty members to make the Gorman experience possible for a more diverse student population. Named and/or memorial scholarships and grants have been established in coordination with the Bishop Gorman Advancement Office. Such awards are created with the intention of continuing assistance for each recipient throughout their four years at Bishop Gorman. On Thursday, March 22nd nearly 600 parents, alumni and friends gathered to honor a very special family of

the Bishop Gorman community, Betty and Ralph Engelstad and their daughter Kris (Engelstad) McGarry '76.

The generosity and commitment the Engelstad Family Foundation has shown to Bishop Gorman has resulted

in our ability to offer a Catholic education to a more diverse population; provide state of the art facilities

for students to gather, worship and learn as a faith-filled community; and afford countless opportunities

to thousands of students. This year’s Knight of the Gael was about honoring a family that has changed the

future for so many students and made Bishop Gorman High School a special place for all.

We could not have had such a wonderful evening without the help of our partners, Red Rock Resort

It was all about the Southern Hospitality this year at Passport, our annual wine tasting event! The party got started right away as over 500 guests were treated to a live performance by students David Martinez ’13 and Ralph Mendez ’14 while emcee, Monique Hafen ’06, whose roots hail back to Louisiana, charmed the crowd with her warm southern personality.

As the night progressed, the Shapiro Project performed some energetic Jazz followed by Modern Science who rocked the night away! Throughout the evening, Wirtz Beverage made sure everyone had something to quench their thirst with over twenty wines, ten beers and Southern Hospitali-tea and Hello Satchmo specialty drinks to enjoy! As usual, the M Resort provided a gorgeous venue and lip-smacking food with a southern flare!
