Our Mission The Angel Foundation for Learning is a charitable organization that serves the needs of students in the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB). Through the generosity and compassion of donors, we support students by nurturing their body, mind and soul through nutritional, educational and recreational programs. Our Vision As an official charity of the TCDSB, our mandate is to support our children’s education, with an emphasis on social justice. It is a sad fact that many of Toronto’s students live below the poverty line. Through essential nutritional, educational, social and emergency support programs, we work to give every student an equal opportunity to succeed and to provide hope for their future. In 2014‐15, we joined with the TCDSB in celebrating the year of CHARITY. Our theme for the year was ʺEveryday Angels Inspire Charity.ʺ We are grateful for all the support we received this year, from our schools and students. Their involvement was instrumental in making our first Board‐Wide Civvies Day a huge success. Our Angels are our donors; individuals, schools and corporate sponsors. With their generous support, The Angel Foundation for Learning will continue to educate, inspire, support and nurture students within the TCDSB through our four Wings of Support: Student Nutrition Programs, School Allocation Funds, Guardian Angel Funds, and Bursaries and Awards. Our Angels are our supporters that participate in our fundraising events through their donations and presence. Our Angels are our Board of Directors that oversee all of our operations, our staff that work diligently to carry on the work of the Foundation, and our volunteers, who spend endless hours working on behalf of the students of TCDSB. We are grateful for everyone’s support and generous donations throughout the year of Charity.

But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love.

The 2014‐15 Annual Report for the Angel Foundation for Learning is a testament to the number of programs, school activities and basic family needs that we have supported. As President of the Board of Directors of the Angel Foundation for Learning, I can attest to the increasing number of requests for support that have come to the Foundation from schools and the TCDSB Social Work Department. Although the Foundation was able to grow its revenues, we also continue to face an increasing demand for funds to meet the needs of our students. All funds raised by The Angel Foundation for Learning are directed through our four wings of support: Student Nutrition Programs, School Allocations, Guardian Angel Funds, and Awards and Bursaries. The growth that the Foundation has experienced in the last few years has put the focus on the increasing needs of students and families in our TCDSB community. With the increased assistance of provincial and municipal funding, we hope to meet our goal of having a student nutrition program in all TCDSB schools in near future. It is important to note that although the work involved in administering these programs has increased, the Foundation has diligently kept the administrative costs as low as possible. This is proof of our commitment that your donated funds directly support TCDSB students. Our mission has always been to serve the needs of TCDSB students and this Annual Report is indicative that we are meeting our mission thanks to the generosity of our corporate partners and private donors. Going forward, there is still much work to be done and our staff, volunteers and Board of Directors will strive for continued growth and the sustainability of all our programs. As you read through this Annual Report, any suggestions or ideas that you may have would be of value to us. The Angel Foundation for Learning is for OUR TCDSB community and values any input that will assist us in meeting our goals for the future. Thank you for your continued support of TCDSB students. Nancy Murdocca, MSW RSW President The Angel Foundation for Learning

Student Nutrition Programs Each day, over 45,000 TCDSB students rely on one of 165 Student Nutrition Programs in 145 locations to receive a healthy breakfast, morning meal, lunch or snack. One in three TCDSB students participate in a nutrition program five days a week. Students who have had a healthy and nutritious morning meal are ready to learn and have improved attention spans. Municipal and provincial government grants account for between 14 and 24 per cent of the costs associated with running the Nutrition Programs. The remaining costs are covered through fundraising initiatives, parent donations and local community sponsorships. Breakfast Clubs of Canada, Breakfast for Learning, The Youth and Education Fund, The Polish Orphans Charity, Martin McCarthy, Dr. David Michelberger, CWL of St. Philip Neri, RTO District 24, the Cardinal’s Dinner, the F. K. Morrow Foundation and the Toronto Catholic District School Board also provide funding for some of our Student Nutrition programs.

    Secondary Schools

    Elementary Schools and Community Sites

With the exception of St. Michael Choir school, all of the TCDSB secondary schools have a Student Nutrition Program.
