Our Mission

We soon will have three standaloneClubhouses once construction is complete on our newFellsmere location. This will allow us to serve 40 additionalmembers each year in an 8,000 square-foot space.

As we look forward to 2020, our focus is on increasingmembership in our President’s Circle and Chairman’s Circle, those generous donors who give a cumulative $1,000 and$5,000, respectively, each year to the Clubs. Our dedicatedBoard is working diligently to help us meet this goal.

Thanks to your continued and generous support, the Boys & Girls Clubs areexperiencing increased Club membership, expanded facilities, and world-classprograms. We invite you to witness first-hand the incredible impact that you aremaking on our kids. Attend one or more of our special events, volunteer, or stop byany of our three Clubs for a tour. KEY STAFF VOLUNTEERS We love our volunteers!

The best way to predict the future is to create it. Oneof my favorite success stories this year is of twoseniors, Chris and Anthony, not on track to graduatewith their class. They were failing and were close togiving up. But our Career Counselor, Ms. Laura, thought of a solution. What if we pulled Chris andAnthony out of high school and enrolled them in acareer online high school? If they completed thecurriculum before the end of the school year, theywould be able to walk with their graduating class andreceive their diplomas. Ms. Laura got the green lightfrom the School District to go ahead with the plan. She met extensively with the boys' parents and drewup a contract of expectations for all parties involved.

Every day, they came to the Vero Beach Club and worked for hours on the onlinecurriculum. Chris and Anthony finally had someone in their corner and it keptthem going. On May 15th, both boys graduated with their class. Chris andAnthony refer to that day as one of the best in their lives.

Chris plans to pursue his AA degree at Polk State College, and Anthony planson joining the Army. Even though the boys are no longer Club members, Ms.Laura is protecting our investment by helping the boys transition to the nextphase of their lives.

Sometimes the impact we have on the kids is not readily apparent. In this case,it is gratifying to know that the boys have plans for the future thanks to theDestinations program. It’s possible because of your support. Thank you.

We first opened our doors inside a small classroom of a localelementary school in the year 2000. Since then, we have grownto serve more than 1,000 registered members annually andhundreds of additional children through community outreach. We operate three Clubhouses, one each in Vero Beach,Sebastian and Fellsmere. The Sebastian Club opened in 2006,followed by the Vero Beach and Fellsmere Clubs in 2010. TheClubs include education and technology centers withcomputers, art and game rooms, teen centers, outdoor greenspace, and multipurpose areas.

We are open every day after school and all day duringsummer and school breaks, providing a vital service to ourcounty’s children and families. The rate of juvenile crime morethan doubles between the non-school hours of 3:00 p.m. and7:00 p.m., and it is during those hours that children are morelikely to be involved in substance abuse and risky behaviors. The Clubs offer a safe, positive, and educational environmentfor our community’s youth, encouraging them to achieve theirhighest potential.

SOCIETY OF ANGELSThe Society of Angels is a group of dedicated volunteers who work directly with our Club members, helping themdevelop into positive and productive citizens. The most notable projects conducted by the Angels this year were bookclubs, etiquette classes, tutoring, and college- and career-readiness programs for our teenagers. Children in our bookclubs improved their vocabulary and built confidence while reading aloud in front of their peers. Our etiquette groupslearned proper table manners and valuable social skills. Finally, our teens learned how to write resumes, presentthemselves for a job interview, and identify a career aligning with their strengths and interests.
