A child means hope, future and a better world. But when the

child comes from a very poor family, for him hope almost

doesn’t exist and he is looking at the future with fear.

Unfortunately, there are too many children who cannot hope

for a better future because their families are poor, without

education and without the possibility of offering them what

they need.

But we can and have to be solidary with those in need, we

can help the less fortunate children, educate them, counsel

them, so that they can be integrated in society. They can

become citizens who live with dignity, only if they go to

school, obtain a qualification and after a work place.

A child who will receive support on time, will be an

educated person, will learn a profession and will be capable

of leading an independent life as a responsible adult.

We, from Fundatia JOYO, are for 16 years solidary with

those in need, offering them education, material support,

qualification courses and support to obtain a work place.

In 2017, with the help of our donors and financiers, we

changed for the better the life of 2258 children and youth in

difficulty.

We thank to those who generously joined our cause,

changing for the better the destinies of many

underprivileged children.

Let us together give a chance to these children and make

the world we live in a better world!

Raluca – yesterday, today, tomorrow

When one looks at Raluca for the first time, one remains impressed by her big

blue eyes, which were once very sad, and now are full of hope.

Raluca grew up together with her brother in a poor family from the countryside,

marked by the violence of a father who permanently terrorized his family. At long

last, the mother had to run away from home together with the two yet young

children. She took refuge in her mother’s house from Bucharest, in a small house

where lived other 5 persons. But this didn’t matter to her, she hoped to find the

peace and energy to raise her children. Because life’s difficulties slayed her and

couldn’t find a work place, she came to the foundation and asked for help. Briefly

they became beneficiaries of the projects the foundation then had, ‘Forgotten

children’ (Raluca was enrolled and was paid for a place at kindergarten) and

“School is cool!(1) (her brother was enrolled in school).

The beginning was not easy at all: the children were shy, uncommunicative,

disorientated. The years spent in fear and poverty left deep scars in their souls,

but especially in Raluca’s soul. And because they eyes are the mirror of the soul,

in her gaze one could see a lot of sadness and suppressed pain.

Since then, with the sustained and constant help of the foundation, the life of this

family changed for the better. After graduating the mandatory grades, both

brothers followed qualification courses offered by the foundation in order to have

an extra chance of becoming independent and responsible.

But Raluca didn’t get satisfied only with having 10 grades. The Foundation

remained by her side, sustaining her efforts to continue high school. Now she is a

pupil in the last high school grade and is preparing herself for the Baccalaureate

exam. ‘Windows to the future” project and the ECDL permit obtained following the

exams, were a new opportunity for her to develop both professionally and in

school. With this permit Raluca will prove she gained the digital skills required at

the Baccalaureate exam.

The foundation was not only the “friend” with whose help Raluca now is a young

girl with high professional aspirations – she wishes to become student of the

Agronomy Faculty from Bucharest. In the same time, the foundation was the

“friend’ who sent her in camps and together with whom she stepped for the first

time on a mountain, who taught her how to swim in the seaside’s waters and also

in “life’s waters”. Raluca understood that life can take a happy turn if the help

received is valorized and used as catalyst in the complex process of human

becoming.

Now her eyes are clear, confident and full of hope for the future.
