On behalf of the Board of Governors and the whole Abbey community Iwish to take this opportunity to welcome you all, especially last year’s fifthyear group and their parents to this very important evening in the Abbeycalendar. This group will receive their G.C.S.E. certificates to-night, a fittingreward for five years hard work that marks the beginning of their adult life.

I would also like to congratulate the other award winners acknowledgedto-night. These include “Best in Class”,“Most Improved in Class” and “Bestin Key Stage 3”.

I have pleasure in welcoming back to his Alma Mater our distinguishedguest speaker Mr Declan Carey and I would like to thank him for acceptingour invitation to attend this evening. As you can see from our AwardsBooklet Declan completed seven successful years in the Abbey where heachieved like the most of yourselves here tonight G.C.S.E. after 5 yearsbefore going on to complete 3 ‘A’ Levels two years later.
