District Governorʼs Message
Lions, Lioness and Leos
As we move further into the Lions year a lot of things are happening. Like the world itself, Lions are continuing to evolve and change. At the latest International Director’s Meeting held in early October the merger of Districts A & R was approved and the official change will take place next July at the 2015 International Convention in Hawaii. A lot of hard work went into making this happen by many Lions from both districts. A big thank you to all. Because of this merger there will be changes in some of the upcoming events. District Governor Mark Berchem and I have decided to make our 2015 conventions a combined convention. Therefore the A & R District Convention will be held at the Double Tree Suites in Plymouth Meeting, Pa. on Saturday, April 11, 2015. Further information will be forth coming. Also because of the merger the Bucks county Lions Football Committee has been talking to the Lions and Football Coaches of Montgomery county about having a Bucks County vs Montgomery County All-Star Football Game in the near future. October is over and being “White Cane Month” everyone has been working hard helping the blind. With the holidays fast approaching its time to take care of the hungry providing food to make their holidays a little brighter. On Sunday, November 16 I will hold my 2nd Cabinet Meeting at the Overbrook School for the Blind in Philadelphia with the meeting starting at 1:30 PM. During the past month Pat & I made several club visitations and we would like to thank all of them for their generous hospitality. Remember our International President’s theme of “Strengthen the Pride” by just asking one person to join.
Yours in Lionism D.G. Jim Davis Jim
Remember: WE SERVE, It’s the right thing to do.

phone calls that Club’s checks have not been cashed by the Camp. Please let me know if your Club had the same problem. It is important that all checks be mailed to Estella or Ted Kristiniak. There is paper work that needs to be done before checks are mailed to the camp. Do not mail the checks directly to camp.My training for District Governor continues at State Council meetings. There is a full day of training November 22 at the State office for all 1st VDG’s. All 1st VDGs are also doing training on the internet with LCI.The Bucks County Lions Rally was held on October 23. Lions District 14-A Charitable FoundationOCTOBER NEWS
Special Olympics Special Olympics will be held Saturday, Nov 8th at Villanova starting at 9am
in Bartlett Hall. We will be assisting in the Opening Eyes vision screening for the athletes. Please notify Board Member PDG Ken Moore [email protected] or call 267-205-1960 if you would like to participate.
Vision Screening Project On September 27th, the Foundation conducted a very successful project to provide vision screening and eyeglasses for underserved folks in the center city area. The event was hosted by Phila Fight, a non-profit organization in the downtown Phila area dealing with the less fortunate, primarily with health-related issues. Well over 150 signed up for the screening, but due to time limitations we could only take care of approximately 60. The remaining signees will be screened in two more sessions being scheduled for early 2015. Of those screened on the 27th, all 60 were found in need of eye glasses. These glasses were all provided by the Foundation at no cost to the individuals. Pictures of the grateful recipients will be included in the December issue. Of most importance was that 23 of these individuals were found to have potentially serious eye health issues and these are being followed up by physicians through the Phila Fight Organization. The actual eye screening and testing was provided by 15 optometry students of the Salus University Lions Club who did an outstanding and professional job.
