District Governorʼs Message
Lions, Lioness and Leos
On Sunday, September 21 we held our Banner Night at the Canstatter Volksfest-Verein in Northeast Philadelphia. In attendance were about 100 Lions, Lionesses and guests. We were also honored to have as our special guest the 2014-2015 State Council Chairperson, PDG Mark Kusma from district 14-H who brought us greetings from our International President Joe Preston. During the evening many clubs proudly displayed their banners. I also want to thank all the hard working people who made this the success that it was. Thank you. With almost a quarter of the year gone we have been visiting the various clubs and talking with them about the great work they are doing. This week we attended the Asian-American Lions Club to help celebrate their 5th Charter Night. During the evening not only did I have the honor to induct 5 new members but while doing this, I also had the opportunity to reaffirm the oath to the original Twenty charter Members who started the club. Also attending were our 1st vice District Governor Estella and her partner Lion Ted, Zone Chair Rita Di Antonio and Lion Louise Hanson. Also in attendance was PDG Jim Harrington who presented a “Good Samaritan Award” (District 14-A Charitable foundation) to Lion Grace Kong. LCI’s Global Action Service for October is vision. This traditionally means White Cane Month and many clubs are preparing to do their White Cane Projects. Don’t forget to record your efforts to the district and Lions Clubs International. Thanksgiving and Christmas are fast approaching and it is not too early to start identifying those who would benefit from your generosity. Don’t forget President’s Preston’s motto of “Strengthen the Pride” and by doing so you are expanding your ability to serve those in need.
Yours in Lionism D.G. Jim Davis Jim
Remember: WE SERVE, It’s the right thing to do.

1st Vice District Governor CommentsThank you to all the Lions, Lioness that came to Banner Night on September 21st. I am starting to plan Banner Night 2015. Please email [email protected] any suggestions for Banner Night. I am planning to have the event in Bucks County. With the meager of District R into our District as of July 1st, 2015, Banner Night will be very special.
Reminder to Club Secretaries that reports to Lions Clubs International need to be submitted by the 21st of the month. This
gives the newsletter editor a few days to receive the report and prepare the newsletter. Check to make sure that all your member’s email addresses are correct and submitted to Wilbur Wohlbach/PDG Jim Harrington. Club secretaries also need to check that all their members home addresses, and email addresses are correct to Lions International.
The new Yardley-Makefield Lions Club Charter Night is Wednesday, October 29 at the Yardley County Club. Please see the invitation and well wishes information in this newsletter.
I enjoy visiting Clubs with DG Jim. It is so great to hear all the amazing activities that Clubs are doing. What works as a fund raiser in one area might not work in another area. Try new ideas for fund raisers. You could get new members at your event. Broadcast your Club at White Cane collecting, a Club event. Invite the people to your meetings.
Estella Kristiniak 1st Vice District Governor
