If you have any questions or would like to sign up, please contact Lorraine Wagner at 717-732-5487. TODAY: Remember the GIANT Gift Card Program/Debt Reduction Opportunity! There's been an uptick in purchase and use of the Giant gift cards through Aldersgate Church. Please remember that with every $100 in gift cards purchased, AUMC receives $5 (5% of total purchases) back that is used against our building debt/principal payment on the loan. We're chipping away at it, and—truly—every bit helps. If just 75 households purchase $100 in gift cards each month (toward your own use for groceries and/or gas), that would generate $4,500 back to AUMC toward loan reduction! If 75 households purchased $100 weekly for gas/food consumption in their household, that would equate to $19,500 per year coming back to AUMC for debt reduction! This is not to endorse a particular business, but rather to celebrate an avenue given to us by GIANT foods. It costs us nothing to participate, and capitalizes on our ongoing food and gas usage needs to benefit our faith community's debt reduction efforts. Cards typically are available on the first and third Sundays outside the Family Life Center. We are open to exploring other times for purchase, if persons come forward to assist. Checks may be made payable to AUMC, marking the memo as "GIANT cards." Please remember that these purchases do not constitute gifts or tithes and offerings to the ministry. Join the Communion Team! All who are part of the worship life of AUMC are invited to consider joining the team that serves communion. Perfection is not a requirement! All that is needed is a love for God, and an understanding that we are all in need of His grace. Communion is offered monthly. If you wish to be a part of this team, email [email protected] or put your name, email address and "Communion Server Info" on the back of todays communication card, and put it in the offering plate. Aldersgate Church A United Methodist Congregation

“Reaching with the Heart of God for the Lives of Our Community”

WELCOME! IT’S PENTECOST SUNDAY!

May 15, 2016 Pentecost celebrates the gift of the Holy Spirit upon about 120 followers of Jesus as

described in Acts 1 and 2. Pentecost was "the Birth of the Church" and the beginning of the great Christian harvest with 3,000 people receiving Christ as their Savior on

that day. This day of all days should be celebrated in the Spirit-empowered Church!

The Worship Call Leader: Holy God, Spirit of Love:

PEOPLE: Come from the four corners and renew us. Chase away our

doubts and light a fire in our words and deeds.

Leader: Holy God, Fire and Dove:

PEOPLE: Come upon Your Church. Enflame our compassion, enlarge

our witness, and stretch our hospitality.

Leader: Holy God, Breath of Joy:

PEOPLE: Renew our worship. Touch our hearts. Bring us peace. Help

us to hear the Good News, to trust it, and to live it. So Be It!

Praying Together, as ONE: The Prayer of Our Lord Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:

For Thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen

Worship Through Song

Ministry Moment: God’s Helping Hands

Presenting God’s Tithes and our Offerings “Then the people rejoiced because they had offered so willingly, for they

made their offering to the Lord with a whole heart …” – 1 Chronicles 29:9

Offering Our Prayers Before God

Scripture: Acts 1:6-11, 15-17 and 2:1-13

Dr. George Ghanem of Holy Land Christian Solidarity Over the last century, the Christian population in the Holy Land dropped from 30% to

just over 1% as Christians fled their homeland for safety and freedom of movement.

Our guest on this Pentecost Sunday reminds us of our Oneness in Christ, and of God’s

commission for us to be Kingdom Builders. Amidst economic strife as tourism

plummeted, Christians in Bethlehem who relied upon craftsmanship of olivewood carvings

now seek our support . Please visit the Christian Solidarity Cooperative display today.

Scattered By God to Sow We have a story to tell. We have a Savior to show.

We have new life in Christ to live!

Aldersgate is a "Safe Sanctuary Church" What does that mean? “Safe Sanctuary” means that all ministry staff and volunteers working

with children or youth under age 18 (and vulnerable adults) have obtained the appropriate Pennsylvania and FBI criminal and child-welfare clearances, and have received direction for

compliance with Safe Sanctuary Policy of The United Methodist Church. Your children - God's children - are important to us! Any questions regarding Safe Sanctuary and how to obtain the

clearances, etc. can be directed to Jodie Dodson, Director of Children’s Ministries, who oversees Safe Sanctuary here at Aldersgate Church.

We as Aldersgate Church take seriously the Scriptural truths that every human being is made in God's image, and Jesus' commission to go into all the world with the saving Gospel to recreate and resurrect in Christ's image. To that end, we understand that it is essential that we be reminded and challenged to a world much larger than our own personal walk and relationship with God. Indeed, a small world-view that excludes the world Christ came to save is not Scriptural and it is not Christian.

This is why ministries that stretch us beyond ourselves and our own daily movements and awareness are so essential -- whether local mission ministries or those, like Mission Central, that heighten our awareness and spur our action. "Being" and "doing" are wedded as spiritual journey in the Gos-pel. Can't have one without the other!

Aldersgate Church is connected with Christ's world through our sister church in Sierre Leone, and through the Village of Hope in Uganda, just to name a few. One of the most significant relationships we have is with the REVIVAL CHURCH in Krichev, Belarus. Pastor Galina continues her personal battle with cancer and the impact of treatments. Please hold her in your prayers as well as the people there whose "world" is filled with oppression and many challenges. Yet, the Gospel of Jesus pierces the dark-ness. Aldersgate Church assists with funding to this sister church in the amount of $25,000 annually through our United Methodist Church connection. These funds are designated through our weekly Tithes and Offerings presented here in worship.

In early May, in response to an inquiry from Pastor Troy who was concerned about not hearing from Pastor Galina for awhile, we received this communication, and we now share it with you:
