Kallakudi & Kovandakurichi Limestone Mines(G.O.No.1158)

Environmental Clearance Compliance Report – Expansion

(Environmental Clearance granted videLetter No :SEIAA-TN/F.No-480/2012/EC-3957/1(a)/TRY/2017/dated11.10.2017for Limestone &Marl Mining with enhanced capacity of 0.75 million ton perannum &Mining Lease Area of 13.295 ha)

No change in mining technology and scopeof working will be made without priorapproval of the State EnvironmentalImpact Assessment Authority (Tamilnadu)

No change in the calendar plan includingexcavation, quantum of mineral limestoneand waste will be made without priorapproval of concerned authorities.

(iii) Project proponent shall complywith all the guidelines andnotifications issued byMoEF&CC, New Delhiregarding Mining of Mineralsand comply with orders ofHon'ble NGT from time totime regarding mining of

minerals under 1(a)(iv) A copy of the clearance letter

shall be sent by the proponent tothe Local Body, Lalgudi Taluk,Trichy District, and the LocalNGO, if any, from whomsuggestions / representations, ifany, have been received whileprocessing the proposal. Theclearance letter shall also be puton the website of the Proponent.

A copy of the Environmental Clearanceletter sent to concerned Kallakudi townPanchayat on 17.11.2017.

The EC letter has been uploaded in thecompany website.

(v) All other statutory clearancessuch as the approvals for storageof diesel from Chief Controllerof Explosives, Fire and RescueServices Department, CivilAviation Department, ForestConservation Act,1980 andWildLife (Protection) Act, 1972,State / Central Ground WaterAuthority, Coastal RegulatoryZone Authority, other statutoryand other authorities asapplicable to the project shall beobtained by project proponentfrom the concerned competentauthorities.

As this is an operating mine, all applicablestatutory clearances for this project areavailable from the concerned competentauthorities.

(vi) The Construction of thestructures should be undertakenas per the plans approved by theconcerned local authorities/localadministration.

As this is an operating mine, the existingstructures will be used. However in case ofany new construction of the structures, thesame will be undertaken as per the plansapproved by the concerned local authorities/local administration.

(vii) All required sanitary andhygienic measures should be inplace before startingconstruction activities and theyhave to be maintainedthroughout the constructionphase.

As this is an operating mine, No majorconstruction work is envisaged. However,all required sanitary and hygienicmeasures are in place and willbe maintained

(viii) The company shall stress uponthe preventive aspects ofoccupational health.

As this is an operating mine, AwarenessProgram me on Occupational Health,Diseases and Safety measures arebeing conducted at regular intervals.

The types of training programme includes:a. Induction Training

b. Job specific Training coveringhealth and safety

(ix) Provision shall be made for thehousing of construction labourwithin the site with allnecessary infrastructure andfacilities such as fuel forcooking, mobile toilets, mobileSTP, Safe drinking water,medical health care, creche etc.The housing may be in the formof temporary structures to beremoved after the completion ofthe project.

As this is an operating mine, no newstructures of building is envisaged. Theexisting Office Shed, Toilet & SepticTank are sufficient for the expansionactivities as well.

The employees working in the mine areprovided with safe drinking water, medicalhealth care etc.,

(x) The project authorities shouldadvertise with basic details atleast in two widely circulatedlocal newspapers, one of whichshall be in the vernacularlanguage of the localityconcerned, within 7 days of theissue of clearance and a copy ofthe clearance letter is availablewith the State Pollution ControlBoard and also at website ofSEIAA,TN and a copy of thesame should be forwarded to theRegional Office of the Ministryof Environment and Forestslocated Chennai.

Advertisement in two local newspaperswidely circulated in the region, one inEnglish ( New Indian Express) and the otherin Tamil (Dinamani) published on17.11.2017, informing that the project hasbeen accorded environmental clearanceand copies of clearance letter areavailable with the TNPCB and also can beseen at website of the SEIAA,TN athttp:seiaa.tn.gov.in.

The copies of advertisement submittedRegional Office of the MoEF & CC,Chennai.

(xi) A separate environment andsafety management cell withqualified staff shall be set upbefore commissioning ofconstruction activities and shallbe retained throughout the lifetime of the industry, forimplementation of the stipulatedenvironmental safeguards.

As this is an operating mine, no extraconstruction activities are envisaged.However a separate Environmental Cell totake care of environment and safetymanagement function is in place and theHead of the Cell directly reports to theHead of the Organization forimplementation environmentalsafeguards

(xii) The State Pollution ControlBoard should display a copy of

the Environmental Clearanceissued to the project at theRegional office, DistrictIndustry Centre and theCollector's office/ Tahsildar'soffice for 30 days.The Project Proponent has toconduct Ambient Air Qualitysurvey twice in, week (104times) in a year and monitor thePM 10& PM 2.5.

Ambient Air quality monitoring to monitorthe PM10 and PM 2.5 will be carried asadvised.

(xiii) A scientific site/ ecologicalrehabilitation and restorationplan on long term basis shouldbe drawn to carryout restorationwith native species and Biodiversity

There is no overburden or waste to backfillthe mined out pit at the end of mine life.Hence it is planned to convert the mine pitinto water storage reservoir.Green belt is developed in the mine withnative species.

(xiv) The Green/Blue plan shouldguide the restoration of the site.Therehabilitation/restoration planshould be submitted toSEIAA-TN within one month.

(xv) An amount of Rs.5 Lakhs shouldbe allocated under CSR forresearch studies onrehabilitation & research andawarded to forestdepartment/accredited forestresearch institution of State orCentral Government, orbiodiversity organization.

An amount of RS.5 Lakhs Sponsoredunder CSR for research studies onrehabilitation. The study will be awarded toforest department/accredited forest researchinstitution of State or Central Government,or biodiversity organization as advised.

(xvi) The existing water bodies shouldnot be disturbed to ensuresustainable environment foraquatic life forms.

There are no water body crossing thismining area. However all preventive stepswill be taken to preserve water body locatednear the Mine site for ensuring thesustainable environment for aquactic lifeforms.

(xvii) The proponent shouldcompletely implement allenvironmental pollution controlmeasures as detailed in the EIAreport and in the additionalreport

All environmental pollution controlmeasures as mentioned in the EIA reportand will be implemented.

(xviii) Additional sprinklers to beeffectively added along the route

the plant is carried out by engaging thewater tankers. The same system will becontinued in future also.

(xix) Avenue plantation whereverneeded has to be carried outalong the route for dustsuppression.

As this is an operating mine, alreadyAvenue Plantation is carried outwherever needed to suppress to dust alongthe route to the plant. However it will befurther carried out in the areas where it isnot presently available.

(xx) The green belt developed for theprevention of dust pollutionshould not form a part of thelarger green belt developmentenvisaged in the EIA report.

Is followed

(xxi) Regarding CSR activities, theproponent should concentratemore on infrastructure facilitiesuseful to the local community.They should include skilldevelopment and sports as someof the activities in this regard.

Suitable CSR activities on skilldevelopment and sports as some of theactivities is carried out for the benefit oflocal residents in the nearby villages aroundthe ML Area.

On infrastructure development front,various activities like construction ofwater tank, sanitation facility, maintenanceof village roads, desilting of Water body iscarried out from time to time in consultationwith the District Collector and theconcerned local Panchayat Chairman.

(xxii) Regular monitoring and checkup for pulmonary andcarcinogenic diseases to becarried out regularly, not onlyfor the workers involved in themines but also to the people inthe villages adjoining the mines.Interaction with the PHC &district medical officer should beon regular basis to monitor theincidence of the diseases if anyand to provide suitable medicalfacility for the patients.

Regular monitoring and check up forpulmonary and carcinogenic diseases iscarried out regularly in our colony hospitalfor the employees of mines.

Regular monitoring and check up forpulmonary and carcinogenic diseases arecarried out regularly for nearly villagepeople through CSR activity afterinteraction with the PHC & district medicalofficer.

(xxiii) As mining operations areconducted by deploying rockbreakers which is bound toproduce noise as well asvibration, a survey has to beundertaken for studying thevibrations and remedial action

The mining operation are carried bydeploying rock breakers. These breakersare fitted with vibration & noise dampingpads inside to reduce the generation ofvibration & noise during the opreations.Hence these breakers are called vibrosilenced type of hydraulic rock breakers.

need to be taken to circumventthe noise pollution anddissemination from the source.Vibration studies need to beconducted by a reputedorganization like AnnamalaiUniversity, Anna University,NIT,Trichy. Green barrierneeds to be provided betweenthe mine boundary and thenearby habitation to minimizethe noise pollution.

The Noise generated from the breakers isregularly monitored and are found to bewell within the limits.

Vibration studies were conducted byengaging the National Institute of Minershealth, KGF.

Also green belt is developed surroundingthe mining area to minimize the noisepollution and as advised it will be furtherstrengthened in future.

Conditions for Construction/Mininq Phase(i) Non - Conventional open-cast

mining deploying mega rockbreakers shall be adopted asreported for the mining of limestone. No Drilling or Blastingshall be done during miningoperations.

Non-conventional method of mining bydeploying rock by deploying Mega rockbreakers for mining Limestone whicheliminates drilling & blasting.

(ii) To furnish to the SEIAA for oneyear period:

a. Report on quality andquantity of ground waterto be generated duringmining operations.

b. Comparative statementon normal ground waterand mined out water withrespect to qualities &suitability for agricultureetc for one year period.

As advised the reports on quality & quantityof ground water will be submitted toSEIAA-TN at periodic intervals of one yearperiod.

(iii) Monitoring of well water levelsand water quality of the wells inthe locations furnished in theEIA report shall be done duringpre-monsoon and post monsoonperiod and results submitted tothe Regional Office of MoEF,Chennai and SEIAA.

As this is an operating mines, themonitoring of well water levels and waterquality of the wells in the locationsfurnished in the EIA report are carried outduring pre-monsoon and post monsoonperiod and results are submitted to theRegional Office of the MoEFCC , Chennai.As advised the copy of the report will behenceforth sent to SEIAA-TN also.

(iv) Monitoring of water quality andair quality in and around theproject site in the selectedmonitoring points as mentionedthe EIA report shall becontinued regularly involvingAcademic Institutions.

As this is an operating mines, themonitoring of water quality & air quality in& around mines are carried out asmentioned in the EIA report by engagingthe services of the M/s.Environmentalsystem Consultants& Ambiente Labsolutions Private Limited Chennai which isa NABL accredited laboratory. Thereports are submitted regularly to theRegional Office of the MoEFCC , Chennai.

(v) Regular monitoring of groundwater level and quality shall becarried out in and around themine lease by establishing anetwork of existing wells andconstructing new piezometersduring the mining operation.The periodic monitoring [(atleast four times in a year-pre-monsoon (April-May),monsoon(August)postmonsoon(November) and winter (January); once ineach season)] shall be carriedout in consultation with the StateGround Water Board/CentralGround Water Authority and thedata thus collected may besent regularly,,to the Ministry ofEnvironment and Forests and itsRegional-office,Chennai, theGround Water Authority and theRegional Director, CentralGround Water Board. If at anystage, it is observed that thegroundwater table is gettingdepleted due to the miningactivity; necessary correctivemeasures shall be carried out.

As this is an operating mines, themonitoring of ground water level aroundmines are carried out in four seasons of theyear by engaging the services of theM/s.Environmental system Consultants&Ambiente Lab solutions Private LimitedChennai which is a NABL accreditedlaboratory. The reports are submittedregularly to the Regional Office of theMoEFCC , Chennai.

As advised the copy of the report will behenceforth sent to Ground Water Authorityand the Regional Director, Central GroundWater Board.

(vi) Hydro geological studyincluding infiltration test shallbe conducted by any reputedagency to estimate leachatequantity.

Presently Hyro geological study of the minearea is being carried by engaging theservices of a reputed agency. The study ispresently on going at site.

(vii) The excess over burden shall notbe disposed for anycommercial purposes andshall be disposed within themine lease area only

There is no over burden in the mining areaand hence question of disposal ofoverburden does not arise.

(viii) The proponent shall conductAAQ Monitoring Survey once in6 months in the locationsfurnished in the EIA report andfurnish report to the RegionalOffice of MoEF, Chennai. It

shall be ensured that one AAQstation shall be located in thenearby habitation of Kallakudi& Kovandakurichi village.

Private Limited Chennai which is a NABLaccredited laboratory. The reports aresubmitted regularly to the Regional Officeof the MoEFCC , Chennai.

As advised one survey location close tohabitations of each Kallkudi andKovandakurichi village will be followed.

(ix) The critical parameters such asRSPM (PM25, P.M10) and NOxin the ambient air within theimpact zone, peak particlevelocity at 300 m distance orwithin the nearest habitation,whichever is closer shall bemonitored periodically. Further,quality of discharged water shallalso be monitored[(TDS, DO,PH and Total Suspended Solids(TSS)].The monitored datashall be uploaded on the websiteof the company as well asdisplayed on a display board atthe project site at a suitablelocation near the main gate ofthe company in public domain.

As this is an operating mines, themonitoring of water quality & air quality in& around mines are carried out asmentioned in the EIA report by engagingthe services of the M/s.Environmentalsystem Consultants& Ambiente Labsolutions Private Limited Chennai which isa NABL accredited laboratory. Thereports are submitted regularly to theRegional Office of the MoEFCC , Chennai.

The monitored data is regularly uploaded onthe website of the company. The data willbe displayed on a display board at theproject site at a suitable location near themain gate of the mines as well as advised.

(x) Data on ambient air quality[(RSPM and NOx] shall beregularly submitted to theRegional office of MoEF atChennai and theSEIAA/SPCB/CPCB once in sixmonths.

As this is an operating mines, themonitoring of ambient air quality of RSPM& NOx in & around mines are carriedregularly and the reports are submitted tothe Regional Office of the MoEF & CC,Chennai & SPCB.

As advised the copy of the report will behenceforth sent to SEIAA-TN & CPCBalso.

(xi) Fugitive dust emissions from allthe sources should be controlledregularly. Water sprayingarrangement on haul roads,loading and unloading and attransfer points should beprovided and properlymaintained.

As this is an operating mine, the fugitivedust emission from haul roads are controlledby carrying out water sprinkling on haulroads at regular intervals.Additional Adequate measures taken tocontrol fugitive emission are given below.

a. Water Sprinkling on Haul Road ,Rock breaking areas andloading area

mines to factory.c. Speed Control.d. Avoiding overloading.e. Good maintenance of vehicles and

mining machinery.(xii) Pre-placement medical

examination and periodicalmedical examination of theworkers engaged in the projectshall be carried out and recordsmaintained. For the purpose,schedule of health examinationof the workers should be drawnand followed accordingly.

As this is an operating mine, Initial medicalexamina t ion and per iodica l medica lexamination of the employees engaged inthe mines is carried out and records aremaintained

(xiii) Regular medical check-up formine workers and nearbyresidents around the project siteinvolving community medicalcenter/NIMH shall beconducted.

As this is an operating mine, Initial medicalexamination and periodical medicalexamination of the employees engaged inthe mines is carried out and records aremaintained.Also periodical medical camps engaging theservices of Near by Govt Hospital & othergood hospitals from Trichy are beingcarried out through our CSR activities fornearby residents around the mines.

(xiv) As per norms, the health studyshould be conducted throughcompetent/approved healthorganization and reportsubmitted for one year

As this is an operating mine, Initial medicalexamination and periodical medicalexamination of the employees engaged inthe mines is carried out and records aremaintained.Also periodical medical camps engaging theservices of Near by Govt Hospital & othergood hospitals from Trichy are beingcarried out through our CSR activities fornearby residents around the mines.

(xv) Corpus fund created should beprioritized and utilized for healthissues.

Corpus Fund earmarked for conductingthe medical camps and medical examinationare utilized for that purposes only.

(xvi) Mineral handling area shall beprovided with adequate numberof high efficiency dustextraction system. Loading andunloading areas including alltransfer points shall also haveefficient dust controlarrangements. These should beproperly maintained and

operated.(xvii) Vehicular emissions shall be

kept under control and regularlymonitored. Measures shall betaken for maintenance ofvehicles used in miningoperations and in transportationof mineral within the lease area.The mineral transportationwithin the mine lease shall becarried out through the coveredtrucks only and the vehiclescarrying the mineral shall not beoverloaded.

As this is an operating mine. The vehiclesentering the Mine are checked at the entrypoint for Pollution Under ControlCertificate.

Regular maintenance of vehicles used inmining operations and in transportation ofmineral are carried out. The materialtransported through trucks are coveredwith tarpaulin, before commencement oftransportation. The vehicles are notoverloaded.

(xviii) The effective safe guardmeasures shall be provided tocontrol particulate dust level incritical areas, transfer points andhaul road within the mine area.

Water sprinkling is carried out to suppressthe dust at critical areas such as materialhandling area & loading and unloadingareas.

(xix) At least four ambient airquality-monitoring stationsshould be established in the corezone as well as in the bufferzone for monitoring ofRSPM(PM2.5, P.M10) andNOX. Location of the stationsshould, be decided inconsultation with Tamil NaduPollution Control Board basedon, the meteorological data,topographical features andenvironmentally andecologically sensitive targetsand frequency of monitoring etc.

As this is an operating mine, Ambient AirQuality Monitoring Stations established inthe core zone as well as in the buffer zonefor PM2.5 & PM10 and NOxmonitoring are furnished in the EIA/EMPreport.

Location of the stations and the frequencyof monitoring are carried out inConsultation with the TamilnaduPollution Control Board.

(xx) Mine working shall be restrictedup to 32 (KLK) & 89 m BGL asper the present mine plan period.NOC from the State GWA fordrawing ground water shall befurnished.

As advised, mine working will be restrictedup to 32 m (KLK) & 89 (KVK) m BGL asper IBM Approved Mine plan.

The required clearance (NOC) will beobtained from the State Ground WaterResources Department, Tamilnadu, and thesame will be furnished.

(xxi) Separate drain shall beconstructed in between waste There is no waste dump or water body near

dump (bund) and nearbyriver course, if any, to avoidsilting in the water body.

(xxii) Garland drains and siltationponds of appropriate size shallbe constructed around the mineworking, soil and mineral dumpsto prevent run off of water andflow of sediments. The water socollected shall be utilized forwatering the mine area, roads,green belt development etc.The drains shall be regularlydesilted, particularly monsoon,and maintained properly.

There is no waste dump or water body nearthe mining lease area.Presently, the water collected during therainy days are utilized for watering the minearea, roads, greenbelt development etc.

(xxiii) The rain water accumulation inthe mine during rainy seasonsshall be treated by providingsettling tanks in the periphery ofthe mining lease area and theoverflow clean water from thesettling tanks shall be allowed todischarge through the first orderstreams to join nearby natural

drains. The settling tanks shallbe cleaned periodically forremoval of sediments and suchrecords of cleaning shall bemaintained properly

Presently, the water collected during therainy days are collected in the mine sumpwhich acts as a settling tank. Only clearwater is pumped out to the neary by nallahsduring the rainy days.

The sediments in mine sump are clearedperiodically and records of cleaning willbe maintained.

This rain water collected in the Mine sumpis used for dust suppression, greenbeltdevelopment.

(xxiv) Garland drains proposed on thenon moving sides of the Dumpyards shall be connected tosettling tanks to arrest any washoff sediments from the dumpsand only overflowing cleanwater shall be allowed todischarge through the first orderstreams. The settling tanks shallbe of sufficient dimensions tohold the wash offs in one rainyseason and has to be cleanedbefore,every rainy season.

There is no waste dump or water body nearthe mining lease area.

(xxv) Conservation plan furnished topro scheduled flora and fauna inthe core and buffer zone ofthe project site shall beimplemented. Scheduled species

No Schedule I fauna /flora exists in in thecore and buffer zone of the project. Hence,no Conservation Plan is envisaged.

As advised, the ultimate area to beplanted/afforested will not be less than 0.4ha.Greenbelt will be developed all along themining lease area in a phased manner andwill be completed within first 5 years.

(xxviii) Green belt shall be provided asper norms of MoEF & CC, GOI,in consultation LocalDFO.

As this is an operating mine, greenbelt isdeveloped all along boundaries of mininglease area as norms given by MoEF &CC, GOI, in consultation Local DFO.

(xxix) The project authority shallimplement suitable waterconservation measures includingrain water harvesting system toaugment ground water resourcesin the area in consultation withthe Regional Director, StateGround Water Board.

As this is an operating mine, the quantity ofwater collected in Mine sump inside the pitduring monsoon is used for dust control inhaul roads, greenbelt development. Thewater stored in the pit will help to augmentground water recharge.

(xxx) The Company shall submitwithin 3 months their policytowards CorporateEnvironment Responsibilitywhich should inter-alia address(i) Standard operatingprocess/ procedure to bring intofocus

A Final Mine Closure Plan along withdetails of Corpus Fund will be submitted tothe SEIAA, TN , 5 years in advance, priorto the final mine closure for approval.

(xxxii) Depth of water table of the wellslocated inside the mining areaand wells located around themonitoring area shall bemonitored regularly.

As this is an operating mine, the water tablearound the area will be monitored regularly.There are no wells located within the mines.

It is also planned to install Two piezometersto monitor ground water Level.

(xxxiii) CSR activity shall includeproviding social & welfaremeasures for the local residents& nearby villages around themine area. It shall focus onproviding water supply andsanitation facility to the nearbygovernment schools around themine area and maintenance ofvillage roads, ponds, providingsolar street lights etc.Fundsearmarked for CSR activity shallbe used for that purpose onlyand separate account shall bemaintained and report on

CConditions for Post Construction I Operation Phase & Entire life of theproject:-

(i). It is mandatory for the projectproponent to furnish to theSEIAA, Half yearly compliancereport in hard and soft copies on1st June and 1st December ofeach calendar year in respect ofthe conditions stipulated in theprior Environmental clearance,and also before commencementof production.

Half yearly compliance report is beingsubmitted in hard and soft copies by 1stJune and 1st December of each calendaryear in respect of the conditions stipulatedin the prior environmental clearance andalso before commencement of production.

(ii). No expansion or modernizationin the project shall be carried outwithout prior approval of theSEIAA-TN.In case of anydeviations or alterations in theproject proposal from thosesubmitted to this Authority forclearance, a fresh reference shallbe made to the SEIAA-TN toassess the adequacy ofconditions imposed and to addAdditional environmentalprotection measures required, ifany.

No expansion or modernization in theproject will be carried out without priora p p r o v a l o f t h e S E I A A - T N .

In case of any deviations or alterations inthe project proposal from those submittedto the authority for clearance,a freshreference will be made to theSEIAA-TN to the SEIAA-TN to assessconditions imposed and to add additionalenvironmental protection measurerequired, if any.

(iii) All the environmental protectionmeasures and safeguards asrecommended in the EIAreport shall be complied with.

(iv) The implementation of theproject vis-a-vis environmentalaction plans shall be monitoredby the Regional office of MoEFat Chennai/TNPCB/CPCB. A sixmonthly compliance statusreport shall be submitted tomonitoring agencies regularly.

monitoring of quality of ambient air andfugitive emissions will are carried out andthe data on ambient air and fugitiveemissions are regularly submitted to theRegional Office of MOEFCC at Chennai,TNPCB and Central Pollution ControlBoard in both hard copy as well as in softcopy once in six months.The data on PM10, PM2.5, ,SO2 and NOxwill be displayed outside the premises atthe appropriate place for the generalpublic.

(vi) Occupational health surveillanceof the workers shall be done on aregular basis and recordsmaintained as per the Mines Act

As this is an operating mine, Initialmedical examination and periodicalmedical examination of the employeesengaged in the mines is carried out andrecords are maintained.

(vii) The first aid facilities in theoccupational health centre shallbe strengthened and themedical records of eachemployee should be maintainedseparately

The first aid facilities are provided in therespeictive mine site. and all necessarymedical facilities avalable in thecompany dispensary. The records ofmedical examination of the employeeare maintained with our Chief MedicalOfficer and copy of the reports areavailable in mines office.

(viii) The overall noise levels in andaround the mining area shall bekept well within the standardsprescribed for by providing noisecontrol measures on all sourcesof noise generation. The ambientnoise levels should conform tothe standards prescribed underEPA Rules, 1989 viz. 55 dBA(day time) and 45 dBA (nighttime).

As this is an operating mine, the noiselevels in around the mine area aremaintained well within the prescribedlimits.

Measures like provision of silencers inmachines, greenbelt along the boundary ofML area, etc., are provided for controllingambient noise level below 55 dBA in daytime and 45 in night time.

Ear plugs/Muffs are provided to theoperators of heavy earth movingmachineries in mines. .

(ix) The project proponent shallregenerate / preserve water bodylocated at about 5.0 km fromthe propose site at its ownexpenses. The project proponentshall also develop village pondsin addition and shall ensure thatthe existing ponds in and around

Action will be taken to preserve waterbody located at about 5 km from theproposed Mine site at its own expensesand also develop village ponds in additionand maintain the existing pondsin and around 5 km radius.

5.0 Km radius are wellmaintained.

(x) Hydro geological study of thearea shall be reviewed annuallyand report submitted to theAuthority. No water bodiesincluding natural drainagesystem in the area shall bedisturbed due to activitiesassociated with the operation ofthe Mining activity.

Hydrogeological study of the areaconducted will be reviewed annually andthe report will be submitted to authority.

No water bodies including naturaldrainage system in the area will bedisturbed due to mining activities bytaking necessary safety precautions.

(xi) CSR activity shall beimplemented as committed bydrawing a scheme for social upliftmen in the surroundingvillages with reference tocontribution in road construction,providing sanitation facilities,drinking water supply in thegovernment schools nearby,community awareness,establishment of health centres,water supply to nearbyvillages and employment to localpeople whenever and whereverpossible both for technical andnon-technical jobs and protectionof water sources around theproject site etc. Fundsearmarked for CSR activity shallbe used for that purpose only andseparate account shall bemaintained and report onimplementation shall befurnished regularly.

As this is an operat ing mines, CSRactivity are implemented as committed bydrawing a scheme for social up-liftmentin the surrounding villages with referenceto the contribution in road construction,providing sanitation facilities, drinkingw a t e r s u p p l y i n t h egovernment schools nearby, communityawareness,establishment of health carecenters and employment to local peoplewhenever and wherever possible both fortechnical and non technical jobs andprotection of water sources around theproject site.

Funds earmarked for CSR activity will beused for that purpose only and separateaccount will be maintained and report onimplementation will be furnishedregularly.

(xii) A separate EnvironmentalManagement Cell equipped withfull fledged laboratoryfacilities to carry out the variousEnvironmental Management andMonitoring functions shall be setup under the control of a SeniorExecutive.

As this is an operating mine, a separateEnvironmental Cell to take care ofenvironment and safety managementfunction is in place and the Head of theCell directly reports to the Head of theOrganization for implementationenvironmental safeguards

(xiii) The requisite amount earmarkedtowards capital cost andrecurring cost/annum forimplementing pollution controlmeasures shall be usedjudiciously to implement theEnvironment Management Planas furnished in the EIA report.The funds so provided shall notbe diverted for any otherpurposes.

The funds earmarked for environmentalprotection measures are used to implementthe Environment Management Plan asfurnished in the EIA Report.

(xiv) The project proponent shallupload the status of complianceof the stipulated environmentalclearance conditions, includingresults of monitored data on theirwebsite and shall update thesame periodically. It shallsimultaneously be sent to theRegional Office of the MoEF atChennai, the respective ZonalOffice of CPCB and the SPCB.The criteria pollutant levelsnamely; RSPM, SO2, NOx orcritical sector parameters,indicated for the projects shall bemonitored and displayed at aconvenient location near themain gate of the company in thepublic

The status of compliance of theenvironmental clearance conditions, isbeing uploaded in the company websiteand will be updated periodically.

The same is being simultaneously be sentto the Regional Office of the Ministry ofEnvironment and Forest & ClimateChange , Chennai, the Zonal Office ofCentral Pollution Control Board,Bengaluru and the Tamilnadu PollutionControl Board.

As th i s i s a op e r a t i n g mi n e s , t h ePollutant levels namely PM10, PM2.5,SO2, NOx (in the ambient air) aremonitored and the monitored data areuploaded in the company website and areupdated periodically. The monitored dataare sent in hard copy to all the all abovementioned authorities No stack monitoringis required to be carried out as there willnot be any stack within the ML Area.

(xv) The project proponent shall alsosubmit six monthly reports onthe status of the complianceof the stipulated environmentalconditions including results ofmonitored data (both in hardcopies as well as by e-mail) tothe respective Regional Office oMoEF, the respective ZonalOffice of CPCB and the SPCB.

The six monthly report on the status ofcompliance of the stipulatedenvironmental clearance in hard copies isbeing submitted to the SEIAA, TN, theRegional Office of the MoEF &CC,Chennai, and the Tamilnadu PollutionControl Board.

Henceforth, the monitored data (both inhard copies as well as by e-mail

The environmental statement for eachfinancial year ending 31st March inForm-V as mandated is submitted toTamilnadu Pollution Control Board andthe Regional Office of the Ministry ofEnvironment, Forest & Climate Change,Chennai.The same is put on the website of thecompany and will also be sent to therespective Regional Office of theMinistry of Environment, Forest &Climate change, Chennai by e-mail.The status of compliance ofEnvironmental Clearance conditions isbeing uploaded on the company website.

(xvii) Environmental Clearance isbeing issued without prejudice tothe action initiated underEnvironment (Protection) Act1986 or any court case pendingor any other court order shallprevail.

(xviii) The SEIAA, TN mayalter/modi the above conditionsor stipulate any furthercondition in the interest ofenvironment protection
