2. The structure of the “Dealing with the Public” module

The “Dealing with the Public” module contains six sections, six tests and a final test. You will improve your English language skills in a variety of situations when dealing with the public.





Section 1: Welcoming and introductions

In this section you practise greetings, introductions and giving help.

Test 1

This section tests what you have studied in section 1, “Welcoming and introductions”. You will receive a mark out of 10 for this test which will contribute to your final assessment.

Section 2: Giving information

In this section you will practise giving information about dates, prices and conditions. Then do Speaking Tutorial 1.





Test 2 This section tests what you have studied in section 2, "Giving information". You will receive a mark out of 10 for this test which will contribute to your final assessment.

Section 3: Explaining rules and describing problems

In this section you will study language of obligation, prohibition and permission. Then do Speaking Tutorial 2.

Test 3 This section tests what you have studied in section 3, "Explaining rules and

describing problems". You will receive a mark out of 10 for this test which will contribute to your final assessment.





Section 4: Planning and arranging

In this section you will practise talking about times, schedules and arrangements, and describing purposes, precautions and reasons. Then do SpeakingTutorial 3.

Test 4 This section tests what you have studied in section 4, "Planning and arranging". You will receive a mark out of 10 for this test which will contribute to your final assessment.

Section 5: Explaining where to go and what to do

In this section you will practise describing bureaucratic procedures.

Test 5 This section tests what you have studied in section 5, "Explaining where to go and what to do". You will receive a mark out of 10 for this test which will contribute to your final assessment.





Section 6: Giving instructions

In this section you will practise expressing intentions, possibilities and necessity. You will also find a summary of language practised in the module in the Language Review tab.

Test 6 This section tests what you have studied in section 6, "Giving instructions". You will receive a mark out of 10 for this test which will contribute to your final assessment.

Final test

The final test contains four sections that test what you have learnt in the module. This test is marked out of 40 and contributes to your final assessment.

4. The role of the tutor

All Net Languages tutors are experienced teachers of English who help you throughout the course. The tutor will:

have three speaking tutorials with you and send you written feedback and a mark answer any questions you might have about the course motivate and encourage you throughout the course.

5. Assessment

Marks are awarded as follows for this module:
