English You will need Comprehension Cloze Worksheets (WS) 1 and 2
Success Criteria At the end of the lesson, I will be able to 1. fill in the blanks with the appropriate
words 2. use the following clues in the text to fill in
the blanks: - collocations - contextual clues - connectors - forward / backward referencing
Instructions 1. Read the entire passage of WS 1 as a
whole once without attempting to fill in any words. Why? To get a gist of the text.
2. Read it again slowly. 3. This time, annotate the key words that
are linked to the blank. The Comprehension WS 1 is annotated with arrows to guide you to look for context clues (in bold).
4. Think of the most suitable word that fit into the sentence grammatically.
5. Check by reading the passage again with your answers. Are the verbs in the right tenses? Are the vocabulary in the right parts of speech that is in the right form – verb, noun, adjective, adverb?
6. After completing WS1, do WS 2 and do the annotation. Refer to WS 1 if you are not sure.
7. Check your answers on SLS the next day.
8. Mark your work with a pencil. 9. Do the corrections immediately.

Science SLS Lesson - Evaporation & Factors affecting Rate of Evaporation
Success Criteria: At the end of the lesson, I will be able to: 1. state that evaporation is a process where
water (liquid state) gains heat to form water vapour (gaseous state) at any temperature.
2. state that the factors affecting rate of evaporation are Wind, Exposed Surface Area and Temperature (W.E.T.).
3. state that: in the presence of wind, the rate of evaporation increases
as the exposed surface area increases, the rate of evaporation increases.
as the temperature increases, the rate of evaporation increases.
Instructions: 1. Click on the lesson titled “Evaporation &

2. Watch the video and observe what happens to the volume of water in the cup. Fill in the blanks below to describe evaporation.
3. Watch the video and compare the differences between boiling and evaporation.
4. Watch the videos and observe how the different factors affect how fast the water evaporates. Fill in the blanks and state the relationship between the factors and the rate of evaporation.

Success Criteria At the end of the lesson, I will be able to 1. select the correct vocabulary to fit into the
sentence. 2. scan for context clues in the sentence or the
passage. Instructions: Vocabulary MCQ 1. Read each question carefully. 2. Highlight the key words/ context clues.
Context clue helps you to figure out the meaning of a new word in the sentence.
3. Look at the 4 options. 4. Look up the dictionary or online dictionary
for meanings of new words for better understanding.
5. Write the meaning beside the word and also, jot it down in your Secret to Success later.
6. Look at the options again and omit those you are very certain are inappropriate. After that, look at the remaining ones and choose the one that is the most appropriate in the sentence.
Vocabulary Cloze 1. Read the passage to get a gist of the topic /
story. 2. Read slowly again and look up the dictionary
for meaning of new words. 3. Highlight the context clues in the sentence
