Sobriquets - It’s Meaning and ORIGIN -Sobriquet is a French word. Sob means - foolish, briquet -a french adaptation.
pseudonym assumed as a disguise, but a nickname which is familiar enough such that it can be used in place of a real name without need of explanation. eg. Abraham Lincoln - Honest Abe , Pamirs - Roof of the world, Kerela - Spice Garden of India, Bhutan - Land of Thunderbolt.
