Animoto

Animoto is a Web 2.0 site that will take pictures and music and combine them to make a

quick Video Slideshow. It does offer a free slideshow that is only 30 seconds long and you can

pay for an unlimited length. It is very easy to use and you can bring the pictures in from your

computer or Facebook page. It offers a large selection of music, but it is possible to import your

own mp3s. Animoto is a Software as a Service Web 2.0 tool as you can use it anywhere and it

does store your projects on the Cloud.

1. Load up the Animoto site (http://animoto.com/) and create a free account by signing

up.

2. Create your account by supplying the needed information. Do not use yourFacebook

account to sign-up. Click Start Trial to begin using Animoto.



3. Start your project by clicking the CREATE button under Slideshow Video.

4. Pick a Video Style by clicking on the appropriate frame to get started. There are many styles to choose. Placing your mouse over the top of a style will give a preview of the style’s features or click on it to get a better preview.



5. You make not be able to select some styles because we are using the Free version. If you see PREMIUM on selected Style then that is a Style you have pay to use. We do NOT want to use any of those as there is many Free styles we can use.

6. After choosing a Style that Style will play music associated with it. You can change that music later. If you decide that you do not like the Style, click on the ‘X’ to go back to all the Styles. Otherwise click CREATE VIDEO to get started.



7. You can skip the Tour if that comes up on your screen. Upload your pictures from your computer first.



8. Click on the + to add more pictures then click on for pictures (and not text unless you want to add text). You can repeat this process for every picture or Command-Click on each picture and load them all at once.



9. When you have all the pictures loaded (need at least 7 pictures for your assignemnt). Click on bar where the slideshow style’s music is listed to change it.

10. You can select music from the Animoto collection or upload your own mp3. Click on

a song from the Animoto collection to hear it.

11. If you choose to upload your own music, then the directions are basically the same as

if you were uploading pictures. Make sure the music file you upload is a mp3 and not some other type of audio file.



12. After selecting your music and done making all changes, Click Preview video to see

what your slideshow will look like. Remember in Preview the quality of the video slideshow will not be as high as when it is finalized.

13. After previewing your video, you can either Click PRODUCE to finalize your project or Click CONTINUE EDITING to make changes to your projcect.



14. Give your video slideshow the Title “Animoto Project”. If you want you can also

give a Description, but that is optional. Select 720p for Video Quality

15. Animoto will then process and create your video slideshow. This will take a little

time. Animoto will email you when done. Your video slideshow will be stored in your Account on the Animoto site.
